Wow. That's brilliant.
How much was your holiday for you to get a thousand pounds off?

Happypeeps11 · 03/02/2014 18:49

£9500 down to£8500! 2 weeks full board

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 03/02/2014 19:01

Good for you happypeeps :)

ihatethecold · 03/02/2014 19:58

How nice, I hope you have a great time

Klingyston · 03/02/2014 20:03

You spent how much on a holiday? That's obscene

diabolo · 04/02/2014 16:26

The OP might have saved up for years for this, or she just may be well off. As long as she hasn't harmed anyone to get the money to pay for it , I don't think people should be saying its obscene.

People choose to spend their money on what is important to them and rightly so.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 04/02/2014 16:33

Everything is relative klingy

Perfectlypurple · 04/02/2014 16:42

Of course it's not obscene to spend that ona holiday. It's their money to spend as they wish. We spent nearly 4 grand on a holiday before spending money for just the 2 of us. It was a special occasion and we work hard for our money with very little time together because of the shifts we work so our holiday is our time.

Have a fabulous holiday op

Moomoomie · 04/02/2014 16:45

What a great saving, I'm sure you will enjoy the holiday more knowing you got a discount.
Enjoy your holiday.

givemeaclue · 04/02/2014 16:49

In like neilsons holidays although the cost in school hols is more than going long haul all inclusive!

revealall · 04/02/2014 18:09

I don't have a problem with people spending 8 or 9 grand on holiday.

It just seems a shame that most of that money is going to a big company rather than small Greek businesses. Yes I know they might use some of the local services but it won't be anything like £8,000 worth. (perhaps you could spend that grand you saved locally).

diabolo · 04/02/2014 18:20

Agree there revealall, I wouldn't do all- inc, some of my favourite towns and restaurants in Menorca are really starting to suffer through so many AI hotels. OD for a villa and arrange my own flights and car hire every time. Though it does work out more expensive usually, I happily pay the extra not to be stuck in a hotel with a thousand other people listening to Take That impersonators. Grin

givemeaclue · 04/02/2014 19:05

Op don't worry, you will not be in a hotel with take that impersonation. Neilsons are small hotels with lots of great sports tuition. The actual hotels are locally owned they are not owned by Neilsons. Many staff will be local. You will have a lovely time. We are not talking drink till you drop all inclusive, in fact drinks are not included!

givemeaclue · 04/02/2014 19:06

So put that in your pipe and smoke it those of you who would stay in a small local hotel, the op is!

Wossname · 04/02/2014 19:08

Fucking hell, that's my annual take home pay

Happypeeps11 · 04/02/2014 19:11

Thanks for all the nice comments. It is a lot of money and we do work hard to save for 1 big holiday a year. On that holiday we really enjoy certain aspects. 2 weeks, somewhere hot, great food, pref all inc or full board, package including flights, sleeps 6 room set up, loads of great activities for kids and Dh. (I am happy with book!) next to a nice sandy beach. 4-5* accommodation in peak school summer holidays! If anyone has any cheaper suggestions for us for next year, please let me know lol!

OP posts:
BackforGood · 04/02/2014 19:13

Try Tunisia or Turkey.
OK, only 5 of us, not 6, but got 2 weeks with all that (well, we didn't use kids club) for half that price last year.

Happypeeps11 · 04/02/2014 19:16

I am sure i will cope with a bit of the take that thing! A nice cocktail in hand a warm evening and anything will seem ok

OP posts:
Happypeeps11 · 04/02/2014 19:18

I would look at turkey, don't necessarily want kids clubs more kids activities as kids a bit older now. Where did you go? Hotel/operator?

OP posts:
diabolo · 04/02/2014 19:22

Sorry happy, I was specifically talking about AI in a Menorcan resort where I had the dubious pleasure of renting a villa within earshot of the most god awful "tribute" band I've ever heard.

I stay away from resorts now and I'm sure your Neilsons holiday will be fabulous.
