That is a beautiful area of France you're going to Tutter, my brother nearly fell off Pont du Gard when he was about 10 and the best views of it are from the river below - swimming of course.

Oh I'm soooo envious

milward · 12/07/2006 12:38

wonderful beetroot - have a lovely time xxx

Tutter · 12/07/2006 12:38

oh excellent lucycc (about the area, not your brother!) - that's good to know as i don't know that area - ended up choosing the villa more on availability (and flight availability).

LucyCampCat · 12/07/2006 13:00

It's probably my favourite area of France. Nimes and Arles are lovely - not too touristy in the usual Provence kind of way. Lots of Roman ruins if you like that sort of thing, impressive amphitheatres and the Colosseum in Nimes is fab.

Great river swimming and canoeing too.

oh and my brother fell in / out of / onto everything when he was little! Be warned there are no barrier rails on the top on Pont du Gard, just slabs of stone to cover the aqueduct channel! and it's very high!

We stayed in Uzes town last summer - lovely place. We did lots of exploring and even got as far as Carcassonne!

Another scary Pont du Gard story - DS (3 and a month) was walking along the path to the Pont du Gard when he suddenly threw himself into the bushes down the side. Lots of tourists stopped to look and DH ran and fortunately discovered him stuck on a branch otherwise he'd have been in the river One of those bizarre and scary moments. DS couldn't explain why he did it and it wasn't like he was being naughty.

LucyCampCat · 12/07/2006 13:43

omg Gem!

can you still walk across the top? We went ooo it must be 20 years ago and you could just wander around. It looks a bit more organised now if you look at their website here

Blu · 12/07/2006 13:47

Beety, i'm SO gald you found something.

It will be totally fab. Enjoy yourselves.

When your heart stops thumping!!

CountessDracula · 12/07/2006 15:04

Beety that looks great - honestly I have experienced some "character" provencal houses that are frankly rather grim in the past, you may be better off going for that sort of thing.

How much per week? Let me know if it is nice as we may be heading down that way again next year.
Where is it? (v odd website, no info!)

Beetroot · 12/07/2006 15:06

it is near Grasse 4400 for 16 days.

not a website just info as it is not up on a sigte yet as i think it is only just atrating to be rented out.
