katierocket · 14/06/2006 17:11

I worked in a Wyndham hotel for 4 months but it was in Jamaica. They liked to rip their customers off!

isn't it one of those ghettos which doesn't trickle down to the local economy and therefore wouldn't touch it with a bargepole places? And it might as well be a hermetically sealed box in your head rather than mexico?

docket · 14/06/2006 17:31

I've been to Playa del Carmen but not to that specific resort. Went once in '98 and then in '99, it was significantly more touristy even one year on. Beautiful beach, amazing sea and some great places to go for excursions.

Beetroot · 14/06/2006 17:33

It is not for me. I think i would rather drink Bleach!

I've been to both Mexico and an all inclusive holiday recently and I have to say Mexico was gorgeous but it is very corrupt and it's a very, very long way to go with kids!!. As far as an all-inclusive holiday goes- well it wouldn't have occured to me in a million years to go on one and then I had to go to one in Tenerife for work and it was fab and I now totally get why people with kids go all inclusive.

Beetroot · 14/06/2006 17:39

But inmany of these all inlcusive ones you can be anywhere surely?

OP posts:
Carmenere · 14/06/2006 17:44

Well yes that's the point, I certainly wouldn't have gone to Tenerife by choice. It seemed to be a place devoid of all charm or original features iykwim. But the hotel was fab and we diddn't do anything at all but chill, so it was a really decent holiday. That said I was fairly sure Iwasn't missing anything and if I went to Mexico again I would definitely want to see more of the place!

Beetroot · 14/06/2006 17:59

The one in Jamaica was definitely, they actively discouraged guests from leaving the hotel, most of could have been anywhere

Beetroot · 14/06/2006 18:12
