Most of the good hotels I have looked at have a minimum stay of 2 nights. We can only manage one. It's for a 50th so want to stay in the hotel not be buggering around looking for restaurants and want it pretty nice (but not silly money)

will google Crathorne

I was looking for a bit more luxury, tbh (on this occasion)

Not muddy boots and a pint of scrumpy Grin

irton hall in Eskdale is lovely. Just spent a night in the Clock Tower and it was fabulous.

We've just come back from Raithwaite Hall in Whitby and it was incredible. It has a spa, beautiful gardens, excellent food and a short walk to Sandsend which is a gorgeous unspoilt beach. Oh and the moors.

Judges is nice, similar price to Crathorne. If you stay at one of those hotels you could get a taxi to Yarm and eat there - lots of choice.

I stayed at Aldwark manor recently, it was very nice and there is a pub very near by (2 minutes walk!) that did gorgeous food, would highly recommend.

I have heard that the Black Swan in Helsmley is lovely.

Drunken Duck?Lakeside Hotel on windermere?

bluesky · 29/10/2012 20:03

Feversham Arms in Helmsley

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 29/10/2012 20:04

I googled Crathorne and it came up with "Hand Picked Hotels"

it looks lovely, and there was also another one nr Wetherby, the "Wood Hall" that does a champagne DBB for £230

Whitby a bit too far over as we are near Lancaster the Friday evening before (up from Manchester area)

was looking to push on up into Lakes or a small jump over into Yorks

How about the Lakeside Hotel near Windermere? It's been several years since I stayed there but it was lovely.

cathpip · 29/10/2012 20:06

How about the Crab and Lobster near thirsk in North Yorks, its a restaurant with a manor house that does themed luxury rooms . I was taken for my 30th and would highly recommend, could'nt comment on price though!!

ajandjjmum · 29/10/2012 20:09

I like Lakeside too.

Ktay · 29/10/2012 20:09

Oops sorry twentyten, slow typing. Have heard good things about drunken duck too.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/10/2012 20:09

If its last minute I'd ring up places even if they say minimum 2 nights. Surely if they have empty rooms they won't turn money away?

Ktay · 29/10/2012 20:11

Or l'enclume in cartmel?

HappyHalloweenMotherFucker · 29/10/2012 20:17

wow, thanks everybody, my googling can't keep up !
