Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay along the French/ Spanish coast? We have a 3 yo and are looking for a week in a small, ie not too busy place, ideally a self-catering apartment with a shared pool so he can maybe meet other kids. Nice beaches and good local restaurants also important! I would really like to take a day out and visit Carcassonne while we are there, which is why we are thinking of this area.

TIA

Le Sarrail is very nice - but pricey.

Try Collines Iduki too.

Google them - sorry I cannot link at the moment.

Try http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/france-languedoc-roussillon.htm Owners Direct for examples of accommodation in the Languedoc.

We stayed at Serignan Plage in Languedoc.

I wouldn't recommend it tbh, but that's the only place I've been to there Grin

Huge long beach, very wind blown, no character. Cap D'Agde nearby is grim.

MUCH prefer Costa Brava, - stayed in Calella de Palafrugell which is gorgeous and much more beautiful than the Languedoc coast.

Don't know about Rousillon really. Argeles Sur Mer is supposed to be nicer. Dunno though, didn't go there.

Costa Brava is a long way to Carcassonne, unless you're very up towards the border.

Hiya,
I highly recommend www.ownersrentals.com they have plenty of holiday rentals for families in both of the places you are looking for, take a look at these links. I would also say for families Javea and Moraira in Spain are very good for families, safe clean and plenty to do. Hope you find what your are looking for

Are you flying or driving? We drove down to Calella de Palafrugell a couple of years ago and stopped for a couple of nights in Carcassonne on the way. I agree, the Costa Brava coast is much more scenic than the French side and I love the little resorts of Calella and LLafranc. I think they would fit your brief perfectly. A company called Haven on Earth had lots of properties in that area but we booked a villa through Prestige Villas Spain, both on internet.

I love Roses, its just gorgeous. Carcasonne though is lush too but Roses has more passion. Have a fab time x
