Did exactly the same thing, company jolly for 4 days in maui.
Flight to states, stay overnight, flight to main island, flight to maui, fun fun fun.
Plus all that company jollity to look forward to when you get there!
Had added pleasure of 10 mth old dd with jet lag.
Plus side is, if going with no kids, very beautiful place, transatlantic flights quite a pleasant rest when no snotty noses to wipe every 5 minutes and someone else is paying-what more could you want!

dive
imho

miggy · 17/01/2006 08:03

forgot to add, on way back we stopped in san diego for a few days on our own. Really broke the journey up and made the holiday. Would have to say preferred SD to maui but then I am a philistine!

How strange, my sister just went there
She says there's lots of swinging -- would that suit the fish?
She was invited to a sex party by a construction worker. But she made polite excuses
The macadamia nuts are certainly worth the trip though in her humble opinion

harpsichordcarrier · 17/01/2006 08:21

no one invited me to swing

soapbox · 17/01/2006 18:19

Which island? I would go that far for some of them but not others!

It's a long way, but parts are really wonderful and you'll have a ball! Depends totally on where though!

Harpsi - where did you go?

There are some stupendously beautiful islands but I think you need to know where to go!

Gingerbear · 17/01/2006 22:13

wasn't Soupy's bat from hawaii?

Gingerbear · 17/01/2006 22:15

Beetrootfultoyourself · 17/01/2006 22:20

go go go go go. YOu will hve fun. long flight to drik champange, read without being disturbed, watch movies that arenot u's and sleep.

CountessDracula · 17/01/2006 23:00

West coast of US was the WORST jet lag I have ever had and I have been to pretty much every time zone

Honestly I wouldn't do it for 4 days

soapbox · 17/01/2006 23:04

I thought I had the worse jet lag ever coming back from Hawaii, where we'd been on honeymoon, but it turns out I was pg with DD and throwing up all the time was not connected with jet lag at all

Don't think she'll be there long enough for jet lag really. DH has done hundreds of long haul trips for 2 or 3 days and never really suffers, just tries to stick to UK time as much as poss!
