I'd buy one in Paralimni, in between Ayia Napa and Protaras, South Cyprus, just close to the border where the Turkish invaded 31 years ago...I nearly bought a flat 6 years ago, it was £19k, now the same one's up for sale for £80k, I'd even live there, never mind have it as a holiday home, the Cypriots are the nicest people I've ever met!

soapbox · 13/10/2005 16:35

Erm - Moondog its all in goblidigook, or is that the point!!!

OP posts:
teeavee · 13/10/2005 16:37

soapbox · 13/10/2005 16:37

Nooooo

OP posts:
moondog · 13/10/2005 16:43

Sp..I did link to the English section...

soapbox · 13/10/2005 16:44

Nope defintately not English

OP posts:
moondog · 13/10/2005 16:49

Why is it in English when I click the link then??
Even on the Welsh version there shoud be a teeny tiny 'English' at the top to get the English version.

dinosaur · 13/10/2005 16:51

I found the English bit moondog.

These blimmin' sassenachs, eh?

CountessDracula · 13/10/2005 16:53

I can speak some welsh

Dim parcio
Pant Cud
Araf (said in style of scooby doo at Castle Dracula)

Actually I use pant cud and araf all the time here too - Oh look at that pant cud, you mustn't overtake now for eg,

CountessDracula · 13/10/2005 16:53

(I doubt my pronunciation is up to much)

soapbox · 13/10/2005 16:54

It is still linking me to the welsh version but I found the button!

I was right then when I said that no incomers were welcome and the 2nd home issue is a red herring!

I'm an integrationist I'm afraid. I believe that we all mitigate differences most when we integrate and live with peoples who are different to us.

I'm Scottish and I abhor the anti-english stance that creeps into the phsyche now and again!

Interestingly Sassenach is not a term used to describe the English originally. Rather it was a term used to describe lowlanders by the highlanders. So anyone south of teh highland divide was a Sassenach!

So there you go, another useless fact!

No soapbox, you completely miss the point. Incomers are welcome-those that make the effort to integrate and learn the language. That goes for all places-not just Wales.

I know and am friendly with many many 'incomers' who have done just that-with enormous success.

The chief executive of Cymuned was a non Welsh speaking Welshman who had lived and worked abroad for most of his childhood and twenties who decided to come back and learn Welsh.
There are also many many non Welsh members

My mother is English btw and I have spent most of my childhood and adulthood in various other countries.

piffle · 13/10/2005 17:00

New Zealand infact if I had no cares I'd be back there now for a permanent holiday...

CountessDracula · 13/10/2005 17:24

So can I come as I know the road lingo?

soapbox - sorry about that - I'm Irish and I thought it was just a generalised word for foreigners, not specifically the English!

triceratops · 14/10/2005 11:38

I already live in the deepest countryside. I would love a flat in London for weekends.

fimac1 · 14/10/2005 14:35

Manhattan - used to live there and miss it like mad

Fimbo · 14/10/2005 14:40

Loch Lommond, or a flat in Glasgow or Edinburgh - can you tell I am homesick

soapbox · 14/10/2005 15:06

Fimbo - I used to live in Dumbarton which is very close to LL. Are you from round about there?
