What will Cyprus be like at Easter?

katymac · 09/10/2005 14:17

How hot?

Will it close down? Are there any bank holidays?

Will I like it?

you'll like it. It'll be warm enough but not boiling. Don't know if it shuts down but there may be a few celebrations around, try their tourist sites.

Which bit are you going to? We got ripped off by sixt car hire at the airport. Watch drink prices if you go in fixed price restaurants as they can be inflated.

I haven't booked yet - but it's the only place we can fly to from Norwich that day.

I'm wondering if I can get a kids club?

Some holiday dates here but it just says Easter is moveable! Looks like it might have other interesting pages.

Thanks for the info..no kids clubs on holidays from Norwich (as it's still the winter catalogue)

just make sure you have a swimming pool and the kids will make their own friends there, at least mine do Take an inflatable toy or buy one when you are there and lots of sunscreen and they may almost live in the pool

katymac · 09/10/2005 20:28

Unfortunatley - DD won't join in

But she likes it if someone organises things.....it normally ends up being me, if there isn't a club. And as I do that all year I want a week off If I could leave dd behnd I would - but I don't think she would take it very well

I went in May which is their easter , but to be honest I didnt notice that places were closed for Easter. The weather was nice most days , I think we had one off grey day , but every other was sunbathing level!

A lot of the big hotel groups have kid clubs , ours did at the Paphos Amathus & we also visited Le Meridian in Limassol, for future referance , they have (supposedly) the best kids club in the world, it looked pretty impressive , set in itas own area with a pool and various sports courts surrounding it.

We need to go on 12th April...I think?

Every three years the Greek Orthodox Easter and 'our' Easter coincide and I think 2006 is one of those years. Easter is a big deal over there (my MIL thinks it is more important than christmas) so there will be lots going on. It does mean that flights etc will be pricey, as a lot of people try to go home for the festivities.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:18

Oh Bu&&er

Where else could I go?

We went for Easter a couple of years ago, but TBH we went all inclusive and the kids made a lot of friends so we didn't go that far. I remember the weather being nice though. I def want to go back to Cyprus again and see more of it as what I did see was lovely.
Katymac Norwich is our nearest airport and we go away twice a year and have done for years yet you wouldn't believe I have never managed to fly from Norwich yet. They are getting more flights now though. We are thinking of Bulgaria next year for a change - not quite sure about that one - and I see they fly there now.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:23

My Mum & Dad went to Croatia last summer from Norwich and loved it

But we might go from somewhere else to get a better holiday

I hate booking holidays I might use aahrelax again

The last few times we have flown from Gatwick which is a right pain from here. Stansted isn't too far though.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:27

I just wish you could exclude gatwick from your choices it such a crap journey

You get all excited about a holiday and then realise it's from Gatwick - I hate it

We have stayed in a hotel which included car parking a few times but then you end up going out the night before, you have to have a change of clothes unpacked and it is hard work and expensive. In August we flew back from Florida to Gatwick. It took 2 hours to get our bags as they got two flights muddled up so half the bags were on one carousel and half on the other, then our car wouldn't start so we had to call the AA and then we hade to face over a 3 hour drive home.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:38

And I think we are the other side of Norwich to you

I HATE GATWICK

And Luton. Last time I flew from Tenerife back to Luton, we had only been up in the air for about half an hour. They then called to see if the was a Dr on board, but it was too late anyway and some poor old chap had a heart attack and died. They just laid him across the 3 seats and tied him so he wouldn't roll off and left him there with his feet sticking into the aisle. We then flew another 3 and a half hours to Luton as they said it would be better than landing somewhere else. While he was laying there though, they served us our chicken and chips. Funnily enough, we weren't hungry anymore.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:49

That is so awful - I'm not surprised you couldn't eat

OP posts:
Goldfish · 09/10/2005 21:55

It was awful. I def want to go from Norwich or Stansted next year. Trouble is my dh works on the oil rigs so we can only fly certain days. Like if he is due home on a Thursday there is always the possibility of him getting fogged in for a day or 2 so we have to allow for that but we can't leave it too long as it is time for him to go back again. He often flies into Norwich from his rig.

katymac · 09/10/2005 21:56

I even looked into flying to Gatwick to make my life easier - but I couldn't there aren't any flights

Its really popular at Easter. We actually went to Cyprus Easter Saturday from Gatwick but I know there wasn't much availability. Last year we went to Lanzarote in Feb and that was good. The Canary islands are all supposed to be popular at Easter - and warm.
