I can see some of the other Universities have a thread so thought I'd set one up for Warwick too :). DC is looking forward to starting in September and will be studying History BA.

Has anyone had or do you know when we get our moving in slots?

Has anyone had or do you know when we get our moving in slots?

During this week your dc will be emailed an induction and once it’s complete you can book a slot - make sure your dc keeps
an eye on their emails. The parents FB page will have updates when the induction email is sent out.

Keenwalker · 06/09/2026 14:17

Perfect thanks @poppybuttons

pinkdelight · 09/09/2026 12:17

Accommodation induction/booking slots now live if anyone needs to bag one.

JacketPotatoQueen · 09/09/2026 15:37

Thank you! Just managed to get a Saturday slot - I can’t get time off work that week so really wanted a weekend drop-off!

JacketPotatoQueen · 09/09/2026 15:37

My DS is in Jack Martin.

Fabfabfab · 09/09/2026 18:56

We've also got a Saturday slot. DC decided to book late afternoon though as he wanted a lie in! Would have preferred it a bit earlier as we have to travel back home afterwards...I wonder if we could turn up earlier or if they wouldn't give out the keys outside of the allocated time slot.

@Fabfabfabyes you can turn up earlier, it’s very well organised.

pinkdelight · 09/09/2026 19:36

Saturday slot here too - midday. Nice to have a last Friday night at home before the big move.

Great to hear, thank you. Will probably aim for an hour earlier then so we have time to do a food shop afterwards, before heading home. I think it's going to be an emotional day (for me at least, not sure about DC!). DC has just bought the freshers clubbing pass (or whatever it is called) and is planning to be out every night during freshers week!

Saturday slot booked here too. It’s good to finally have some certainty on the timings! @Fabfabfab, I think that’s my DS’ plan too, they are going to be exhausted by the end of the first week! On top of all the socialising that’s going on already to say goodbye to friends before they disperse around the country.

Fabfabfab · 23/09/2026 18:39

How is everyone doing? Can't quite believe they are finally about to start university! Looking at the Warwick FB page, some have gone already e.g. for pre-season training or those needing a bit more time to settle in. We go on Saturday which I worry is a bit late. Hopefully DC won't be the last to arrive out of his flat of 13. He seems very ready to go although we haven't checked to see if everything will fit in the car (I suspect not....). Wishing everyone all the best over the next few days!

We are arriving Saturday too, my DS is very ready to go now after most of his friends have already gone off!

pinkdelight · 24/09/2026 01:10

Also Saturday and fine with that. Lots of posts on other uni sites of kids getting there too early and wanting to leave so think Saturday before freshers is plenty of time. Good luck with the move everyone! Going to be very strange not having them around.

BalkerneBaby · 24/09/2026 09:31

Saturday for us too. He is so ready to go at this point.

If anyone has their first child going to uni please reassure them that it will take time to find friends and their tribe, yes you want them to have good flat mates but really the clubs and societies they join and possibly their course is where they are likely to find their friends. It’s such a big learning curve no matter how independent they are already and it is ok if it takes a few weeks to settle. I have always said they can call me anytime night or day and share all their worries/panics with me.

they are likely to lock themselves out of their flat/room in the early days so it is worth making sure they find out the procedure of who they should contact (esp at 2am!) and making sure they have that info in their phone when you leave them!

the first time I managed to hold my tears in til I got the car and then cried in the car park before driving home!

Madmoomoo · 24/09/2026 17:53

Dd moved in to Rootes this morning. It was all very well organised and straightforward. She was then off to training so she will finish setting up her room this evening. We were there at 10am and went straight into the key collection hub but when we left at 12:30 there was a huge queue on the road.

Lots of friendly helpers to point you in the right direction.

ComingInByAnsible · 25/09/2026 10:22

Hope her Rootes room is nice, @Madmoomoo! Thanks for the warning about the queue on the road. When we came for the OHD, we queued for over an hour to leave campus, DS and I ended up jumping out, going to the Asian buffet place in the Arts Centre, picking up food while DH sat in the queue and rejoining him with the take away, as we got hungry and bored!

Like many here, we are dropping of tomorrow. Lots of last minute prep still to do today!

Fabfabfab · 25/09/2026 14:28

@ComingInByAnsible @BalkerneBaby @JacketPotatoQueen @pinkdelight good luck for tomorrow! Might see you in the queue somewhere!

DC has now finished packing and said he 'needs a rest' before we attempt to put it all in the car!

Great to hear there were lots of friendly helpers there @Madmoomoo and hope she's setting in well! Has she been in touch since yesterday?

Can't believe how warm it is today, think DC's duvet is going to be way too hot for him. Wasn't expecting another heatwave. 23 degrees here (although might be a bit cooler in Warwick as we are 3 hours south)

Good luck to you too! And I know what you mean about the temperatures - we are London and it hit 26 today!

ComingInByAnsible · 25/09/2026 20:21

Thanks, @Fabfabfab, good luck to you too and also to everyone else dropping off tomorrow! Packing is still ongoing here although getting there now.

Yes it’s lovely and warm here in Surrey, it looks like it’s a couple of degrees cooler in Coventry, but the sun is meant to smile to welcome them in tomorrow. 🙂

Madmoomoo · 25/09/2026 22:28

Good luck to everyone dropping off tomorrow.
Dd is loving Rootes so far. I spoke to her this afternoon and her room is looking great. A few others that have now moved in. One lad has taken 3 kitchen cupboards….not sure how that will work for the students that arrive last! She’s off out tonight clubbing in Coventry with some of the friends she’s made. I’m delighted because she is really embracing it.

pinkdelight · 26/09/2026 06:33

Good luck everyone doing drop-offs today. We’ve got a noon slot but hoping to arrive a bit early to shop for fresh bits n pieces. Happy and hopeful for him but suspect it’s gonna be a bit emotional for a while. For us at least. I think he’ll probably be chill and take it as it comes. Time will tell…

Covsouth · 26/09/2026 07:02

@pinkdelight Tesco at Cannon Park will be heaving today with other families doing the same. If you've got time Sainsbury's on the Fletchamstead Highway is only 5-10 minutes away and is much nicer.
Happy drop offs everyone, DD2 is climbing at the sports hub this morning so I'll think of you as I have my coffee there. 🙂
We take DD1 back to her northern university tomorrow for her final year and DD2 goes next year after this gap year. She's refused Warwick as it's too close and she's too familiar with campus as she's accessed lots of things there growing up, plus I and two other close family members went there. I can absolutely see her point and I hope she enjoys her choice as much as I loved Warwick.

pinkdelight · 26/09/2026 07:45

Yeah we’ll be shopping nearby, already got most stuff. Good luck with your northern missions, sounds like an excellent choice!

ComingInByAnsible · 26/09/2026 07:59

@pinkdelight, we’ve got a noon slot too but trying to arrive a bit early, might see you in the queue!

@Covsouth, DH and I are Warwick alumni too, it took a while for DS to decide not to rule out Warwick on that basis! We don’t live nearby though, that would have been too much for him too.
