Southampton accommodation

Results were good here, place confirmed at first choice. But there has been no word on accommodations allocation at all. Any idea when they will be informing people. Preferences were put in before the cut off date and was first choice as well.

Helpful to know for kitting out. For me helpful to think was this one of the ones viewed on open days etc although TBF they blur into one another somewhat anyway

Same position last year and there was a bit of a wait, it may have been early September. DD got roughly what she wanted and had an absolute riot at Southampton last year!

Twizzletoe · 13/08/2026 14:28

September! That seems really slow - but only because Im being impatient. Drop off slots are from the 13th I think

From the moment we got our secondary school allocations I feel like I have been waiting for something :-)

It was the same at Bath with DD1. We dropped off later last year, the Friday before Fresher's week. Freshers week isn't until 20th.

Treylime · 13/08/2026 14:37

DS got into Southampton first choice but I'm not expecting get to room allocation for a while.

myrosehasleftme · 13/08/2026 15:14

My DS seems to have an email about an hour ago re accommodation but the queue to get on the site is insane so will look tomorrow. Was also first choice accepted offer . We picked quite a big choice of accommodation so can’t even remember what he really wanted…

Treylime · 13/08/2026 15:47

Will get DS to look when he gets home. I didn't think it would be so quick. Can't remember what he chose Glen Eyre shared bathroom i think.

myrosehasleftme · 13/08/2026 15:51

Think that might have been up there for us too. Not so bothered about sharing a bathroom but preferred an enhanced room. He’s now out taking part in one of the many results day food offers so think it will be a looked at again tomorrow. I think maybe the queues to get on the portal are those putting in applications after clearing

Treylime · 13/08/2026 15:56

You could be right about the queues probably the insurance applicants as well. DS also went for the enhanced shared bathroom. I'm sure he would have preferred ensuite but was much pricier. Glen Eyre looks nice and close to campus

hahabahbag · 13/08/2026 16:32

They are slow or were at least. We had drop offs later than that though.

I”ll prompt to check again in case something has been overlooked. My eldest is dreadful for skim reading so I’m always a bit wary

Daughter went to Southampton last year so any questions feel free to ask ;-) .. this year she’s moving to a house share but had a nice uni room last year with bathroom.

Which halls was she in?

My DD has a room confirmed at Glen Eyre. Tbh we looked at so many I cannot remember.

myrosehasleftme · 13/08/2026 20:47

Glen Eyre is walkable to campus and definitely our preferred choice. Also put another one that is about 20 min walk. Definitely not mayflower as that felt too far away. We haven’t checked as he’s gone out celebrating his offer, very inconsiderately leaving me hanging!

striktleee · 14/08/2026 06:52

@Twizzletoe My son was in Highfield Hall last year. Good luck with the online queue, but it does go down eventually. 🙂

myrosehasleftme · 14/08/2026 07:41

Checked this morning and his offer is in, enhanced shared bathroom at Glen Eyre which I think was our first choice. Really pleased, now to get organised, good luck to all your YP too with their transition to Uni.

Treylime · 14/08/2026 07:58

@myrosehasleftme great news. DS is still asleep, will get him to check when he gets up. That was DSs first choice too.

Twizzletoe · 14/08/2026 08:36

He is still asleep after a night out with friends celebrating. Hopefully he will get one of his first couple of selections, Glen Eyre was top of his list I think.

@Twizzletoe @Treylime fingers crossed for your DSs and I hope they get what they want. I’m still very good friends with the girls I met in halls 30 years ago and I was in terrible ones that my mum found while I was travelling so it all hopefully works out in the end. We did put Highfield as @striktleee has reminded me of the name, as an option, they were really nice when we looked around and the bus is included with rent. DS may regret not being there when he is slogging up the hill to Glen Eyre!

fluffythecat1 · 14/08/2026 10:15

I was at Glen Eyre albeit over 30 years ago. It is on a beautifully landscaped site, with a lot of character and in Bassett which is a lovely leafy area. A short walk from Highfield campus.

Treylime · 14/08/2026 11:53

DS Just got his accommodation offer of Glen Eyre Enhanced Plus shared bathroom.

Pricier than Enhanced which I think was first choice but it's on Glen Eyre which is what he wanted so we are happy with it.
Glen Eyre does seem a nice safe area.

Treylime · 14/08/2026 11:55

There wasn't much of a queue to get onto the accommodation portal. 10 mins or so

girlwhowearsglasses · 14/08/2026 11:57

My DS had a 5 min wait just now and has confirmed Glen Eyre which was first choice, looks great!

girlwhowearsglasses · 14/08/2026 11:58

Mayflower is totally closed for maintenance- in news yesterday
