Results were good here, place confirmed at first choice. But there has been no word on accommodations allocation at all. Any idea when they will be informing people. Preferences were put in before the cut off date and was first choice as well.

Helpful to know for kitting out. For me helpful to think was this one of the ones viewed on open days etc although TBF they blur into one another somewhat anyway

At lease we know size of bed and have a had a read of what can and can’t be used in the rooms. Don’t think he is remotely bothered but I feel better 😂

Daughter went to Southampton last year so any questions feel free to ask ;-) .. this year she’s moving to a house share but had a nice uni room last year with bathroom.

Was she in Glen Eyre? I was wondering the nearest place to buy groceries? There doesn't seem to be many supermarkets around there

Sainsbury’s is a short bus ride (10 mins) at portswood and Lidl is 15mins bus. (Down the avenue) however, we fully her her up with dry goods as her room had plenty of storage for things like rice, pasta etc in bulk. So she generally only bought fresh stuff from the supermarket … there’s a small Sainsbury’s 15 walk away on the main road as well. . (Burgess road) … plenty of places to get food she’s just told me. Including Waitrose! Clearly she’s earning too much 🤣

@Shouldbeworkingnotreadingtalk Thanks!

That’s good to know about the storage for dry stuff. I commented on the lack of supermarkets on the open day.

We are used to having a small coop very close by. He uses a lot of milk so handy if it is not too far to carry multiple bottles a week!

My son was in Highfield Hall last year. We made a pre-start-of-term visit in August - bad idea because the campus and surrounding streets were like a ghost town. DS was also very grumpy about the distance to Sainsbury's, 15 mins walk down the hill, but only because he has been spoilt at home where we have 3 small supermarkets within 5 minutes walk. Needless to say, when term started he soon got used to it, and had a brilliant first year.

He did a lot of cooking, and ate far fewer supermarket sandwich meal deals (his go-to snack at home!)

Where did you find that info?

idril · Yesterday 17:36

Lack of nearby supermarkets is the only bad thing about glen eyre halls. there is a small sainsburys near campus but even that is a little out the way. The uni shop is OK for top up essentials and my daughter got a morrisons delivery pass and got shopping delivered.

Twizzletoe · Yesterday 17:37

@girlwhowearsglasses because we know the sort of room the website give the size of bed. One of the documents sent had rules/terms and included no air fryers in rooms etc

Oh, I'm glad I saw this thread. My DS also got his first choice offer at Southampton and my husband and son have been managing accommodation and they've been waiting for an email. I've just told them to log onto the accommodation portal to confirm accommodation.

What is your child studying?
