DD decided against applying for Oxbridge

My DD has finally decided not to apply for Oxbridge. Of course i realise she had a slim chance of getting in but I'd really hoped she'd throw her hat in the ring. With the current graduate jobs market as it is, I thought she might be in with a chance of a golden ticket if she got in.
Is it really that dire out there? Would a talented high achiever really struggle to find a career after uni? I've been advising her to consider her STEM subjects rather than literature, which i think she'd enjoy more...thinking at Oxbridge humanities degrees still have currency...it's so hard, isn't it?!

@Floppyearedlab ( love the name) thank you. She just doesn't have a burning desire to go and can't see the point of applying therefore.
Warwick, Durham, Glasgow, Sheffield.
Sorry to brag but she's brilliant at everything but no burning passion for any subject, so makes it tricky for her to know what/where to go.
I'm justvtrying to provide appropriate scaffolding.

Of these, Glasgow is probably the best bet in her circumstances. The structure of the degree at a Scottish ancient means she can pick three subjects in first and second years, giving her an opportunity to try different things. In most cases she can even change her mind on arrival, e.g apply for English and French and end up taking History, French, and Anthropology.

We're at the Durham open day today and heading to PPE, literature, law and econ talks so hoping it might shed some light.
Thanks for all the comments/advice, really useful.
@mylifeisexams this is exactly what i suggested on the way up
@IDasIX going to Glagow open day in sept. It's only £70 return to fly!
@Araminta1003 good luck to your dd, i hope she lands where she wants to be

@SinuousTendrils - thank you. DD is at Durham today with some of her friends too! Hopefully she will be going to some of the same talks. I think she is at Law with a modern language mentally, but some of her friends are PPE.
I am just glad they made the very early train from London and got up on time!

@IDasIX Id not pick a Scottish uni for law if DD is considering that. It’s very good but feeds the Scottish market. LNAT unis elsewhere if she wants English law.

She loved Durham and is hoping to study English lit and philosophy there. Sge felt immediately at home. Had lots of excellent advice from staff and students. The bottom line was, if you're going to spend 3 years studying, make the decision based on what you'd rather be doing, not what you think will be more employable. Lots of recent graduates landing amazing jobs/training schemes/further study irresprctive of their undergrad subject.
@Araminta1003 i hope your DD and her friends loved it too.
