STILL waiting for Warwick PPE here. DS is fine if they don’t offer, but FFS, just say one way or another 🙄. His exams have already started, so I am not allowed to mention it any more.

Hang in there, they are often late with offers.
🤞you here very soon.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/04/2026 21:37

DS is still waiting to hear about financial maths at LSE. It’s getting beyond daft now, over 5 months since he heard from the other 4!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 29/04/2026 21:47

@EducatingRosemary can you link to that page please? I’m struggling to find it for some reason

lanadelgrey · 29/04/2026 21:50

DS got his LSE rejection today, for IR.

Can I ask for your thoughts please?

DD absolutely loves kings CL and wants to study history and IR or politics there.

they’ve offered her history only. Queen Mary have offered her history and IR.

she’s torn between which to firm and insure.

would you go for fave uni or fave course? My instinct is to put QM as her firm, but I didn’t go to uni so not sure how much of a factor the location/vibe is.

anyone able to offer any pearls of wisdom?

I’d like her to decide and confirm before exam starts so she can stop thinking about it.

Has she contacted Kings to see if there are other courses she might be able to move over to? eg Politics and International affairs is a new course so less competitive than IR. Or would it have to include history?

It’s not one page I’m afraid. You have to go on ucas website to the uni and course you are interested in then scroll to near the bottom of the information.

Completely agree my dd is still waiting(History). I think she’ll firm Durham and insure Warwick now. She was hoping to go to the offer holder day for LSE but that’s now passed. I really don’t think it’s fair, it’s clear they wait till the last minute to see what their preferred candidates choose and then release the final offers/rejections. It’s all a bit too close to the exams.

Thanks. That explains why I couldn’t find it - I was looking for one page!!!

Thanks for the alert, @EducatingRosemary, that 2025 data are very useful. There were no data for one of my DS’s offers previously but now there are, and they have changed for one of his other offers. I wish there were a way to view them year by year to see the fluctuation.

Hope everyone still waiting for decisions hears very soon and positively. @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo, hope Warwick PPE comes through. We went to the OHD yesterday so if you have any questions I could attempt to answer!

@ArchitectureMum its tricky but I think we’ll figure out 5 options! There seems to be pros and cons to them all. Pollock is quite a walk to ECA but catered. But there are also a few really good uncatered central options.

@TeenWhisperer did your DD submit her accommodation choices, fingers crossed my DD will be ECA next year, we are struggling to narrow down the 5 options but will be self-catered.

I believe she’s doing it today! It feels a bit like pot luck as there’s no preference given to any of the 5. But we know Edinburgh well and think she will be happy centrally or at Pollock. Does your dd have a deferred offer?

@TeenWhisperer She doesn't have a deferred offer she is going straight from A-levels.

Warrender Park Crescent would be her first choice but as you say there is no preference given. We were not keen on the Pollock campus on the open day, and we don't know Edinburgh as a city so for her it's all pot luck based on the look of the accommodation.

ArchitectureMum · Yesterday 12:31

DD put Warrender Park Crescent as one of her options too. She went for buildings with a common room, reasonably central and not too expensive. She also has Myles Court on the list which would be very aesthetic but potentially annoying with tourists and bagpipes.

Common room is one of must haves for DD, fingers crossed everyone gets one of their preferences.

TeenWhisperer · Yesterday 13:29

Dd also has Mylnes by court as one of the options. Her and a friend are applying for twins as they’d like to share but I’m not sure she’s thought of a common room.

The historical (most common and lowest etc) grades on UCAS have now updated to include 2025 in case that’s of interest to anyone.

Interesting...I can see that some have lower historical grades than last year. Still hard to know how much of the that is contextual offers. It seems around 25% of places go to contextual applicants (just based on an internet search so could be entirely wrong). For Durham, it now says 32% of applicants were offered a place with AAB for an AstarAA course. If we include the 5% of applicants with even lower grades who are not counted in the data, that suggests to me that it has to include some non contextual places too with such grades which is reassuring. Saying that, DC is working really hard and acing all the mini mocks and NEAs so it's possible he will even exceed his PGs.

@Muchtoomuchtodo that's not MORSE at Warwick by any chance. That's what my son has to achieve (X2 A⭐ but a B as well).

Scary! Luckily he really likes his insurance!

Yes @AuntyBulgaria. DS has got the same offer as yours with the 2x A⭐️ in maths and further maths. Does that mean they’ve lowered the grades from last year?

AuntyBulgaria · Yesterday 21:24

@Muchtoomuchtodo I don't know - they said in their offer that it was a contextual offer. It was the only university that classified him as such and I'm not totally sure why but we think it was his school.

Muchtoomuchtodo · Yesterday 21:33

@AuntyBulgaria apologies but I’ve completely lost track of whose dc have firmed what.

will your ds firm Warwick? Our DS is still waiting to hear from LSE but he’s pretty sure that Warwick MORSE will be his firm choice. I’d be very happy with that tbh.

AuntyBulgaria · Yesterday 21:39

@Muchtoomuchtodo yes he has firmed Warwick as his aspirational choice with Loughborough as his insurance with a x3 A offer, but which according to UCAS often drops it's offer come results day.

Muchtoomuchtodo · Yesterday 21:46

@AuntyBulgaria which course is his insurance at Loughborough?

DS needs to decide between maths and stats at Bath or Manchester (or possibly financial maths at LSE but he’s realised how expensive that will be if he does get an offer so it’s unlikely) as his insurance but the grades aren’t much different between any of his offers tbh.

He was an unsuccessful Oxbridge applicant so it feels like this has been going on for far too long by now.
