Someone has to be the OP and I have no fate to tempt now in this journey.

Congratulations to all the Oxford offer holders. Some lovely stories yesterday afternoon.

Comiserations to those who had different news yesterday. I hope your DC are doing ok and beginning to look positively towards their other options.

Good luck to everyone waiting for news from Cambridge on 28th January.

And hello to all the Oxbridge observers - alumni, parents of past and future applicants. It is always a thread of highs and lows and it was a privilege to be a small part of it for this cycle.

The waiting is killing me! DD doesn't regularly check her phone at 6th form and she's not great at remembering to text me. I think she's got a full timetable of lessons this morning so I probably won't hear until lunch time.

Same here. Trying to work but checking my phone every 5 minutes to see if any texts from DS 😩 it’s excruciating!!

OxbridgeThreadName · 28/01/2026 10:28

Still nothing here. Same feelings as mentioned by others. Keep checking phone, can’t focus on work. I feel for all of them waiting.

Obviousquestion · 28/01/2026 10:29

Me too, same boat!

LadyCrumb · 28/01/2026 10:34

We’re waiting to hear about MML at St Catherine’s but DD has mocks today so can’t check her phone. She has some really nice alternatives if it doesn’t happen so not a disaster, just Cambridge is closer to home than Edinburgh, Durham or Leeds.
I hate waiting 😩

pinkdelight · 28/01/2026 10:36

It's a no here. Hey ho. Lots of good options and arguably more fun to be had. Good luck to all of you still on the rollercoaster...

Satsuma55 · 28/01/2026 10:37

If y'all really want to drive yourselves nuts, head on over to Reddit 6th form sub...you can see the offers roll in LIVE. 😂

Greyeyesgreenlight · 28/01/2026 10:46

Just had a text from DC, they have an offer for PBS (psychology) from St John's. They applied to Emma, so were obviously picked up from the pool. No UCAS update yet, so we don't know what grades they'll need.

Hope everyone hears soon.

Sophomore · 28/01/2026 10:48

DD has an offer but hasn’t been told the grades yet. Good luck to everyone still waiting and commiserations to those who were disappointed.

It’s a yes! So thrilled for her 😻

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/01/2026 10:59

DD has an offer from Corpus Cristi for Natural Sciences. It’s feels a bit surreal. she’s over the moon. Only one at her school to be offered an oxbridge place this year.

congratulations to those getting offers.
Best of luck for those looking at other options now.

Writing as a teacher rather than parent but just found out today that all four of our Oxbridge English applicants got in! One Oxford and three Cambridge! I’m so chuffed. We work really hard to enrich and prepare them and, like most schools, were fighting the prevailing all must do Maths A level STEM culture. So please for and proud of them.

Notellinganyone · 28/01/2026 11:09

We’re and pleased. My excitement outdid my typing.

Absolutely understandable!

(but I love the irony given the subject!)

We’re (were) still waiting. So many seem to have heard. Feel like it’s heading in negative direction.

loopylocks · 28/01/2026 11:32

We’ve just heard - it’s a no 😢

puddock · 28/01/2026 11:32

it's a no here

lanadelgrey · 28/01/2026 11:40

Email had congratulations in the header so he opened it. Magdalene for HSPS and A star, A A

Obviousquestion · 28/01/2026 11:48

Also yes for us. So thrilled but thinking of everyone on this rollercoaster journey.

I studied Law at Catz many moons ago. It’s a cracking college.

OxbridgeThreadName · 28/01/2026 12:02

It’s a yes for us. I’m over the moon.

Congratulations...it's the best college obviously 😉🎉

Jeffandpedro · 28/01/2026 12:21

It's a no for us. He was pooled but not selected from the pool. He's very sad. Now trying to decide whether to try again next year with his actual results.

WhereAreWeNow · 28/01/2026 12:24

It's a yes for DD (Newnham). Can't believe it.

WishfulThinkingToday · 28/01/2026 12:25

It’s a yes for us - Maths at Newnham College! DD is so excited and over the moon.

Shame the Steps tests are right in the middle of the A level exam period though.

Good luck everyone still waiting to hear.

So did I- small world! Agree it’s a lovely college in a great location. Even better when the Squire was the law library!

ProfessorLayton1 · 28/01/2026 12:47

It’s a no for us, Dd is absolutely fine with this.
