Has anyone heard back from Edinburgh uni yet? Is it right they are not sending offers out until well into April?

That’s my son’s final one he’s waiting on. Just heard from St A today so hoping this will follow

sw33tchilli · 17/03/2022 15:52

My daughter received an offer for geography about a week ago, she had grades in hand.

SayYouDontMind · 17/03/2022 15:52

DS (Scottish applicant) is waiting on Edinburgh and also has an unconditional from St Andrew's and an offer from Glasgow. It's excruciating because I have no expectation that we'll hear anything anytime soon.

SandyIrvine · 17/03/2022 16:34

Edinburgh on strike again next week so you might have to wait a bit longer.

Sarcobaleno · 18/03/2022 15:54

Still waiting for Edinburgh. It's painful.

17to35 · 18/03/2022 16:04

Same here.
St. andrews last week but Edinburgh last on the list.

WeAllHaveWings · 18/03/2022 18:04

Ds (Scottish applicant) had an Edinburgh offer for engineering mid February.

Sarcobaleno · 18/03/2022 19:21

@WeAllHaveWings think some courses back and not others. What kind of engineering? Congrats on the offer?

WeAllHaveWings · 18/03/2022 20:19

@Sarcobaleno it is mechanical Engineering MEng

SaveloyDip · 18/03/2022 20:29

DS (again a Scottish applicant) heard back in Feb from Ed Uni with a conditional offer for Politics - just heard from Dundee and Strathclyde this week though. Still waiting to hear from Stirling though.

londonmummy1966 · 20/03/2022 00:37

I know lots of people still waiting on Edinburgh for history, English, modern languages Economics and Classics. All English applicants and Year 13

FinnRussell · 20/03/2022 18:47

@WeAllHaveWings My DSS is waiting for Edinburgh Mech Eng. No one he knows has heard anything. Can I ask what offer your DS got please? My DSS has his heart set on Edinburgh. Congratulations to your son.

WeAllHaveWings · 20/03/2022 20:14

Thanks @FinnRussell, he got an unconditional offer.

He got 5As last year and attends a school identifed as "low progression" so think he may have been further considered under the widening access scheme as he has subsequently had a couple of emails inviting him to offer holder days in march/April from the "Widening participation team".

Hope your ds gets some good news soon.

FinnRussell · 20/03/2022 20:55

@WeAllHaveWings
Great achievement by him, it's been such a crap couple of years for that age group so great to hear of people getting good news.

RubyDarke · 22/03/2022 22:45

DD2 finally heard today
The offer is higher than her Cambridge offer and therefore she won't be accepting it!

She had reduced offers (exceptional promise type things) from 2 other places so one of them is likely to be her insurance. Edinburgh's offer has actually made the decision easier.

Sofuckingsad · 22/03/2022 23:00

DD - grades in hand after a year out - had an unconditional from Edinburgh in February. Scottish based if that makes any difference.

Darbs76 · 23/03/2022 06:31

@RubyDarke - oh gosh. I read on here the other day that due to high number of applicants this year they are increasing the grade requirements. DS only put Edinburgh as he needed a uni with low grade requirements. If they up the requirement then DS won’t have an insurance. Eek.

RubyDarke · 23/03/2022 08:47

@Darbs76
It felt like a waste of an application tbh especially as she's been waiting for weeks since all her other offers came in. Now at least she can make her final decision.

Darbs76 · 23/03/2022 08:49

@RubyDarke - yeah it’s wrong to move the goal posts like that. DS would have chosen a different Uni for insurance if he had known they might offer well over the stated grades on the website. Wish they’d hurry up and let him know either way

DonegalGhirl · 24/03/2022 14:05

DD received an unconditional to study architecture yesterday.

We live in Edinburgh, only 15 minute bus ride from Edinburgh Uni so she will stay at home Smile. Might not be smiling when we receive random drunken phone calls in the middle of the night asking for a lift home Wink.

SayYouDontMind · 25/03/2022 18:30

DS got an Unconditional for PPE today. Also has an unconditional from St As for Econ and Philosophy and a conditional from Glasgow for Politics. All great news after the disappointment of not getting an interview at Oxford for PPE. St As and Edinburgh's Offer Days are on the same day annoyingly - we're going to go to St As and then try and get a visit to Edinburgh sorted. Can you contact the department's directly and ask to look round?

There's not a huge amount of feedback on the PPE at Edinburgh - it doesn't rank as highly as many of the other PPE courses at Warwick, UCL, LSE etc but it is a new-ish course. Decisions, decisions!

Lilliput · 25/03/2022 19:52

Still nothing. Not feeling hopeful.

DD, Scottish applicant, got an unconditional from Edinburgh today for Politics & Social Policy. Also heard from Glasgow, Strathclyde and Stirling, just St Andrew’s to go.The wait is nerve wracking!

Lilliput · 07/04/2022 20:54

Still nothing! Give me strength!
He has an unconditional for Napier so all is not lost.

Still waiting on Edinburgh and St A here too. DD has her offer from Dundee and her insurance offer but would be nice to know one way or the other before the exams!
