Has anyone heard back from Edinburgh uni yet? Is it right they are not sending offers out until well into April?

My daughter was waiting on Edinburgh for History but has accepted Glasgow's offer now

Lilliput · 22/04/2022 23:11

Oh FFS!
Still nothing.

Still nothing here, too. All the other unis have replied. So tedious now. What has your DC applied to? It's Biotechnology for my DS.

Juja · 23/04/2022 17:08

@DoggerelBank same here - Edinburgh is the only Uni DC is still waiting for. Niece in second year at Edinburgh hasn't had a great teaching experience due to Covid and strikes - a lot still on line - just recycling lectures from two years ago. A great city to be a student in though.

He's waiting for music and sociology courses.
He's got an offer from Napier already as back up but thus us ridiculous.
He's first exam is on Tuesday and I fear he's taken his foot off the gas as not sure what he's working towards.

Music rejection but not a huge surprise

Sorry to hear that, @Lilliput. Hope he's not too gutted. Will he be firming Napier then? Hope his first exam went well.

Lilliput · 28/04/2022 18:49

He's still got two further courses from Edinburgh uni to come back.
I feel like I'd like to complain to someone about the late offers, not sure if it should be the uni or ucas.

The UCAS deadline for universities to respond to on-time applicants is 19th May, after which outstanding applications are automatically rejected. So although it is perfectly understandable that your DS might want to express his dissatisfaction with his current situation to either the university or UCAS (and I'm sure that many applicants have), the university is not in breach of its agreement with UCAS by not having responded yet. Perhaps he could contact UCAS to ask them for the reason why they set the date that they have this year?

Edinburgh is obviously going to take us up to the 11th hour or the 19th will come around with no offers.
I see from other threads there are plenty of kids still waiting.

My DC gave up waiting for Edinburgh to respond last week and chose their firm and insurance offers. Interestingly a school friend who applied for the same course waited and this week was offered AAA by Edinburgh which is higher than the website for 2022 entry requirements said.

I've just looked at Edinburgh's 2023 entry requirements and they are now AAA instead of AAB. There seems to be increasing pressure on places even for subjects such as modern languages which are considered less competitive.

DoggerelBank · 18/05/2022 21:06

FINALLY an answer. It's a no, as expected by now. Luckily he has other options he's excited about, so all is good. Good luck to everyone for exam season!

Lilliput · 19/05/2022 18:37

Yup a no to all three courses he applied for.
Thankfully he's got his unconditional for Napier.
