Ah bend really sorry to hear this. I can imagine she just wants to feel settled ok her choice so she can move on. Any joy with Bristol?

Vargas · 29/03/2021 13:53

Bend - so sorry to hear your dd is feeling so low; this year has been so hard on them and recent disappointments do not help. Is she still at school this week? Mine are on holiday now, not sure if that will help them or not, given they only had 3 weeks back at school and they seemed to be enjoying being back. At least the weather is lovely today so they can get outside. Really hope your dd feels better soon.

Fairyfield · 29/03/2021 13:54

DD has decided to firm LSE. She is watching a few of the LSE youtuber videos before making her accommodation choice tomorrow. It is interesting to see footage of the actual rooms and kitchens. Most are very small and eye-wateringly expensive!

fiveoldteddies · 29/03/2021 14:41

For what it's worth found on TSR...
"hey all,I contacted LSE today and asked two things. One was whether offers are given to home students first and they said no and that offers are being issued for home and international. The second question was if most offers have been given and they said no and have much more to give"

chopc · 29/03/2021 15:49

@Fairyfield congrats to your daughter! Hope you stay on and let us know her progress

@fiveoldteddies thanks for that info. Let's see

Good on her fairyfield!

quest1on · 29/03/2021 17:46

Congratulations to your DD Fairyfield - that’s amazing.

Omg, DS had two exams today - one at 8am and one at 4pm. I was so worried LSE would reject him in between!

But we live another day, it seems...,

What subject is your DD going to be studying Fairy? Good for her.

quest1on · 29/03/2021 17:49

Di basically, if LSE are to make their extended deadline of April 16th, they have 3 remaining days this week (before closing on Friday for the week) and then five days in the week after that?

Not exactly many offers on TSR today from what I can see just now.

Pumpkintopf · 29/03/2021 18:15

I am keeping my fingers so crossed for all of you waiting on LSE...

Is anyone still waiting on anywhere else now- have lost track a bit, sorry.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 29/03/2021 20:01

Still waiting on St Andrews here for History and MFL.

If he does get an offer, we'll need to go and visit when covid restrictions allow.

With golf clubs obviously.

chopc · 29/03/2021 20:47

DS had gotten an offer from LSE. Apparently I wasn't at home when he received it then he forgot about it ........

LoonvanBoon · 29/03/2021 20:58

Congratulations to your son, chopc. Is LSE his first choice or is that Durham? Struggling to remember everyone's plans.

Fairyfield · 29/03/2021 21:16

@quest1on her offer for Social Anthropology

Congratulations Chopc. What subject is your son's offer for? What is his offer? DD's is AAB.

Longtimenewsee · 29/03/2021 21:34

Congratulations @Fairyfield and @chopc . @chopc- is that the last one your dc was waiting on?

Pumpkintopf · 29/03/2021 21:36

That's brilliant news chopc. So - LSE or Durham?

Midlife hope you hear from St Andrew's soon.

quest1on · 29/03/2021 21:42

Wow - congratulations chopc! Fantastic news after how many months was that ... six?

Which way are you leaning?

Midlife - good luck with St Andrews. Do you think he might go for that one over Durham?

quest1on · 29/03/2021 21:46

Fairy - I think I’d quite like to do Social Anthropology at LSE myself. Grin

chopc · 29/03/2021 22:07

Thank you all! Sorry if update was abrupt. We had our neighbours over for a bbq in the garden but was too excited to wait til after.

The offer is AAA for History

I think Durham is still no 1 but now all options are on the table, he can decide slowly over the Easter holidays

OP posts:
chopc · 29/03/2021 22:10

@MidLifeCrisis007 fingers crossed for St Andrews although I thought he would prfer Durham as that was one of his two choices prior to Jan?

In any case am I right to think student life in St Andrews and Durham would be similar except St Andrews work on 2 terms and Durham 3?

OP posts:
chopc · 29/03/2021 23:09

@Longtimenewsee yes LSE was the last he was waiting for

OP posts:
fiveoldteddies · 29/03/2021 23:16

Wow congratulations for offers

jano69 · 29/03/2021 23:30

Congrat chopc on the LSE offer!

Midlife, dd is also waiting for St Andrews - I'd love her to firm there but she's sticking with Durham I think.

Bend, I really hope you dd can move forward soon. I really feel for both of you. Exeter is such a fantastic Uni, once you get to visit I'm sure it will win you both over.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 30/03/2021 07:51

@jano69 - there's a lot to be said for St Andrews isn't there? The uni's meteoric rise through the rankings has rather caught me off guard - it seems much harder to get into than Durham these days as a result. Plus he'd be able to add in a second language for the first 2 years alongside History which would be CV enhancing. I just don't know how well regarded it is by employers though. But that said, I know of several Oxbridge graduates who can't get jobs at the moment!

chopc · 30/03/2021 07:54

@MidLifeCrisis007 I think St Andrews is hard to get into because it's a small university

In addition whilst it ranks highly, it doesn't rank so highly for graduate prospects. Don't know if I am wrong there.

In any case from the sound of yours and @jano69 's DC, I don't think that matters so much

Go for where they will enjoy life the most?
