Starting a new one as we filled it up!

Can't believe DS1 will be home in 2 weeks. Must remember to adjust the Ocado shop for when he's back. I suspect we may end up with a few days of his favourite meals 😊

Ironoaks - toffee vodka? Or was it the sponge cake one... S1 doesn't like alcohol either (definitely a changeling, or a throwback to Temperance Grandad) but submitted to being plied by his friends with samples and a couple of them were pronounced Not Horrible Grin

He doesn't drink tea or coffee either (is he even a real student).

His verdict on matric dinner was that he's not keen on caviar...

I don't stalk but every now and again someone tags him on Camfess. I did ask him "who's Emma?" but he looked at me and said "nothing like that..."

Another DS here whose preferred drink is....water. He says he tried various drinks this term but just doesn't like the taste. He has never liked fizzy drinks, or fruit squashes either so it really is just plain water.

Pleased to report that an Oxford puffer jacket can withstand filthy west country weather. Surprisingly waterproof.

Pepermintea · 18/12/2020 17:43

That's good news @Hoghgyni! I'm hoping that the puffer jacket that I've ordered ds for Christmas will arrive in time!

Ironoaks · 18/12/2020 17:51

One society DS belongs to is continuing their zoom socials over the vacation. A bunch of them met up for a virtual "pub night" yesterday evening.

JulesJules · 18/12/2020 19:58

I have not heard of the puffer jacket - is it a boy thing mainly? D1 didn't even get a college hoodie, but she has got a college branded facemask, so 2020...

sandybayley · 18/12/2020 20:36

DS1 is loving his puffer. The initials are a nice touch.

@JulesJules - DS1 has a branded face mask and a pint glass!

The puffer jackets for DS's college are so popular that Ryder & Amies sold out within days of getting them in stock. One of the Freshers organised a bulk order, and DS got one that way. He has a couple of college-branded face masks and a hoodie. He is not at all sporty (unless tabletop RPGs count as a sport 😂) so that's the only stash he is going to get.

They might count... DD said one of her friends is a 'blue' in some sort of online gaming. Grin

Hoghgyni · 19/12/2020 08:02

Definitely not just a boy thing. There is a sea of girls in black puffer jackets with as many initials as they can squeeze on under their college crest.

Flyonawalk · 19/12/2020 23:49

DS has been sporting a college puffa over a college fleece, emphasised with a college scarf and topped off with a college face mask. He looks as if the college has thrown up on him.

We were out for a walk in SW London yesterday and spotted 3 other Oxford puffers. I guess the freshers are flaunting their stash with pride.

@Flyonawalk, I was just thinking that I haven’t seen much wearing of college scarves.

DS has just this morning been wearing his Oxford puffer round Cambridge, which is a bold move. Nobody tried to tip him in the Cam as far as I am aware. Smile
Hoghgyni · 20/12/2020 16:41

Only because they had to keep 2m away DadDadDad.

SnapSnapDragon · 20/12/2020 18:41

I am devoid of ideas for Christmas present for DS and will have to traipse round the shops, I fear. I had planned to get him a nice DLR camera because I thought he'd been hinting but DH probed further and I was wrong. I asked for a clue and he just said if I knew him well I'd be able to get him something. I hate playing this game and wish they'd really cancelled Christmas this year! Any bright ideas?

sandybayley · 20/12/2020 21:05

I've bought DS1 a chemistry modelling kit. A bit like grown mecano /stikelbricks

goodbyestranger · 20/12/2020 21:06

I've got the opposite issue SnapSnapDragon: masses of presents around the tree but the four eldest DC caught up by the London Tier 4 announcement, so Christmas for our family is indeed properly cancelled.

goodbyestranger · 20/12/2020 21:07

No puffer evident here, or scarf, or fleece, or anything even hinting at Oxford....

goodbyestranger · 20/12/2020 21:11

My Cambridge DS came home tonight having transited through London. He said three fairly languorous policemen were wandering around Paddington but no questions asked anywhere so much for barricades etc.

Unescorted · 20/12/2020 21:12

goodbye - we have a Hassan's Kabab sweatshirt.

goodbyestranger · 20/12/2020 21:16

Haha why does that not surprise me Unescorted :)

Ironoaks · 20/12/2020 21:22

goodbyestranger sorry to hear that some of your children won't be able to join you for Christmas.
