...if you can use the mocks, then use the mocks but not if they're higher than the CAGs.

And hopefully on to university!

Jufus I completely understand why you must be worried. It's a pain when doctors can no longer speak to the parents. Has she had all of the jabs she needs before uni? Could you persuade her to have Men B on top? If you could get her into a doctors surgery under an innocent pretence, then tell the nurse your concerns before the appt, the nurse could raise the issue whilst sticking needles in her.

Lightuptheroom · 19/08/2020 13:50

It's a tricky one @JufusMum because I know they won't speak to you without her consent. It may be that when she goes to uni and has to register with a new go that it gets flagged.

Newgirls · 19/08/2020 13:52

No periods for low weight professional sports women is not that unusual. Not saying it’s right but it’s definitely a thing. It does indicate that her weight is low for her build. Does she have plenty of energy going about her day? They never stop being a worry do they.

Lightuptheroom · 19/08/2020 13:52

@Newgirls I strongly suspect so, though the class sizes are small, the system has really failed him. He's very resilient, just wish that this wasn't happening.

Newgirls · 19/08/2020 13:53

It’s really not fair 😞

TudorChimney · 19/08/2020 13:55

I cannot believe so many people are still waiting for CAG's, this is shocking. My DS requested them on results day (only because a friend did), and we got them and his ranking really quickly. We were obviously very lucky.

Bathroom12345 · 19/08/2020 14:01

£2k is reasonable and nice to see a university do something creative.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/08/2020 14:05

Jufus, I have a friend who started her periods in her early twenties. She's also slim and of light build and quite sporty.
So it may turn out there's no real problem. I think people used to commonly start quite a bit later and the average age for starting the has been steadily creeping downwards.
They are just a pain all through teenage years really aren't they. Starting later could be a bit of a bonus?
If your DD is taking the default position of wait and see there may be little or no harm in that approach?

JufusMum · 19/08/2020 14:17

Hog
My GP has advised she does not need any vaccinations for uni unfortunately.

SnapSnapDragon · 19/08/2020 14:49

I can understand your worry @JufusMum. Maybe it would help to decouple your anxiety about health issues with your anxiety about her being in denial? If you can satisfy yourself that it's not a worry health wise (hormone test was fine, maybe hearing about others in situation will help) then you are just left with her denial. And that will sort itself out pretty sharpish when it finally happens.

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/08/2020 15:57

Next week is quite short notice for some uni changes. Dd2 is to be there on 5th.

flowerrful · 19/08/2020 16:05

Is anyone expecting to have to do an unplanned Gap year? It's looking v likely for my DC.

Peaseblossom22 · 19/08/2020 16:59

Durham gave just said that they are looking for volunteers amongst offer holders to take a gap year . But if ds has a place this year , he is thinking he should take it , no idea what to do for the best

RainbowDash101 · 19/08/2020 17:04

@Peaseblossom22 I think it would be easier to make a decision if we had some more information about how this next year is going to run. My dd has her offer and her first choice college but I am worried about the Covid effect. Her college also has come shared rooms and I’m wondering how that works with Covid 😕

Hoghgyni · 19/08/2020 17:20

On the plus side Jufus your post reminded me that we need a list of all the data when DD received hers, so thank you.

Sostenueto · 19/08/2020 19:21

Jufus is she quite slim? I know if under certain weight then periods can stop or not start. She should definately see a doc. Xx

I've been wittering on about CAGs appeals. Seems there was never any intention for them to be open to appeal - except for admin errors- for the legitimate reasons explained in the article. Apologies to anyone I've misled

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/08/2020 19:36

That's helpful to know anyhow gymntonic, before we get them

Monkey2001 · 19/08/2020 19:42

Some crazy upgrades from the GCSE thread which may make you laugh or cry!

One from a 1 to an 8!

BTec situation hasn't improved.

aibutohavethisusername · 19/08/2020 21:07

Just seen that, feel so sorry for those that have done BTecs.

University 2020 :8: Use the CAGs, don’t use the CAGs...
Extracurricularfatigue · 19/08/2020 21:42

I’m so sorry to read about the stresses that kids on here have been put through.

DS is at a school that still does AS so got results last week, and CAGs today - from BBBU to AABC. Obviously pleased but also worried as since then many weeks of school have been missed, he has ADHD so has struggled hugely, and I worry that his predictions will be less than his AS grades, which will be tricky. Also of course next year will now be a far more challenging environment for applications. All assuming (and I think foolish to do so) that the year ahead isn’t disrupted by further school closures.

I feel so bad for all the kids doing exams and HE/FE applications right now. It feels like the system is trying to bend just a tiny bit to make the bare minimum adjustments to get through, which just isn’t going to be enough to make it work.

TheTeenageYears · 19/08/2020 22:18

I'm most interested in the statement that "no BTEC student will be disadvantaged". When students have been given higher grades than they have earned and were given those grades last week, but won't have them downgraded, how on earth are those like my DS not going to be disadvantaged on a remark because the most he will be able to get is what he should have got all along.

mumof42020 · 19/08/2020 23:16

Was anyone else's DC verbally given A level CAGs by the school on results day then told in an email following Monday's announcement that the school would pass on CAGs as soon as they are issued from the exam boards? Talk about a rollercoaster! Back to stressing and nail biting (metaphorically) here until we have it in writing.
