...if you can use the mocks, then use the mocks but not if they're higher than the CAGs.

And hopefully on to university!

Just a quick good night to all on this thread. Thank you for sharing your stories. Good luck to you and all your wonderful DC.
My DS1 is going to continue to ask Bristol if they will still have him.

Now, tomorrow we need to turn full attention in my family to DS2, who has GCSE results.

Buckle up....

KingscoteStaff · 19/08/2020 23:28

What a contrast to this time last week - DS is placidly snoring in his bed, while Yr11 DD has been up and down the stairs at least 10 times and has now taken our emotional support rabbit up to her room because ‘he helps me regulate my breathing’!

Gymntonic · 19/08/2020 23:42

Good luck @WellWoman @KingscoteStaff and anyone else facing the double whammy this year. Hope the day brings happiness and clarity. Just one GCSE here tomorrow. We'll scarcely notice it

JufusMum · 20/08/2020 06:33

Good luck for all DC getting GCSE results today. I remember feeling sick this time last year as DD had so much riding on GCSE results - getting out of a special measures school and into an outstanding school for sixth form - it was nailbiting stuff.

SeasonFinale · 20/08/2020 07:07

Wellwoman Unfortunately your wait will be longer than Friday. Pre-Us are run by CIE and their re-run of results are not expected until next week. They are not subject to JCQ like the other boards. Indeed their gcses results will not be confirmed today, but luckily schools can issue the CAGs and then reissue with any uplift when confirmation is through. (Schools did get them already within the fully moderated set so should also know whether there are any uplifts)>

specialted · 20/08/2020 07:27

Yes good luck to those getting gcse results

TheDrsDocMartens · 20/08/2020 07:53

Good luck GCSE people

TerfTerfTerf · 20/08/2020 07:58

@KingscoteStaff you still have the bunny!! Every time my kids have had stresses in the last 2 years I have talked about the emotional support bunny - but couldn't remember who actually owned one! My DS2 is very chilled about today, but he's off to do plumbing at college and really only needs English and Maths (and can resist those if necessary at college). Fingers crossed for your DD. It's been a rollercoaster!

KingscoteStaff · 20/08/2020 08:30

@TerfTerfTerf
And here he is, thinking ‘I’m up, ready to be supportive, so where is DD?’

DuckyMcDuck · 20/08/2020 08:36

Oh, he is gorgeous.

TerfTerfTerf · 20/08/2020 08:48

So cute 🐰🐰 My colleague and I have been wearing ears once a week since Easter to keep the office amused - it's 'Wabbit Wednesday' Smile

PavlovianPooch · 20/08/2020 08:53

Just to say to those who are waiting to see if uni places will be available - my DD's firm indicated that it would hold her place until appeals had been dealt with. As she now has the grades, she could take that place if she wanted. However, she has decided to stick with the insurance RG uni, which asked for the same grades as the firm, but offered her a place last Thursday. We think she's making the right choice. So there is a place available at her firm and I'm sure this situation will be quite common.

Good luck to those still looking for places and to those receiving results today.

TerfTerfTerf · 20/08/2020 08:54

Not very supportive bunnies

Gymntonic · 20/08/2020 08:56

Oh that bunny is adorable 🥰. My DD went through a phase of asking student ambassadors if she could bring her rabbit into university accommodationHmm. It hasn't lived to wave her off, unfortunately, but the wild rabbits living around the accommodation block in York were a definite selling pointWink
Lewis Goodall (newsnight) is reporting ucas had received revised grades last night. Bring it on!

@TerfTerfTerfGrin. I think the screenshots of fancy dress zoom meetings will live to haunt me

TerfTerfTerf · 20/08/2020 09:13

@Gymntonic which York block is that? It might sway DS1....

Gymntonic · 20/08/2020 09:15

Franklin House @TerfTerfTerf. Highly recommendWink

KingscoteStaff · 20/08/2020 09:15

Rabbit support successful and DD has great results.

Can now swivel my attention back to the approaching IKEA trip for DS...

Gymntonic · 20/08/2020 09:20

Congratulations @KingscoteStaff !

Some publicity for the btech issues. Cap lifted on medicine and dentistry so am hoping that allows my D to move into some spaces freed on her course.

ThrawnCow · 20/08/2020 13:33

DS was due to get Bristol accommodation allocation today, but this has been delayed. No firm date given.

suze28 · 20/08/2020 14:19

GCSE results today for DD2 and she's done very well so will be doing A levels at her current school's 6th form in Sept.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 20/08/2020 14:22

Can anyone confirm when we're likely to hear if the new CAG based A level results were different to the results given last Thursday for our DC?
Did someone mention Friday?
Will we hear from schools or from some central body?
Trying to wait patiently in hope of possibility of a small upgrade (though thankfully Uni place is settled)
Thought about emailing school but thought I'd let those with any critical issues take precedence first

LimitIsUp · 20/08/2020 14:28

Could I put a question re Core Maths to you experienced parents of A levellers (I also have an A leveller but in the arts subjects)?

Ds did well at his GCSEs today and will be staying at his Grammar school for sixth form. He has signed up for A levels in Chem, Biology and Psychology. However his grade average was high enough to be considered for a 4th A level. He doesn't want to do a full fourth A level but mentioned doing Core Maths which apparently is a one year AS level?

Is it worth doing?

mumsneedwine · 20/08/2020 14:29

@ThrawnCow it is being given out today but in batches. Just spoke to them 😊
