Thankyou Monkey and Hoodiemum, that is all most helpful.
We have booked to go up to St A's on the offer day. We don't think Newcastle has a medicine offer day though.
Very grateful for your information.

@nuttychoc Just to let you know that Newcastle does have offer days - 15 and 22 April. They’re apparently sending out an email shortly

nuttychoc · 14/02/2020 17:46

Ooh marvellous Shangrilalala, I will tell dd to look out for the email!
Thank you and happy half term to those who have it next week.

Origamiheaven · 15/02/2020 11:02

@nuttychocs yes 15th and 22nd. My ds recieved the email midweek

Monkey2001 · 15/02/2020 11:55

Interesting fact from TSR - apparently, if DC has lived in Europe for more than 3 months they are an EU applicant in Scotland. Wish we had arranged for DS to go to Germany to stay with friends for a few months, could have saved £60k!! The person posting was not happy about it as the competition ratio for their course was very tough, but for medicine, EU applicants with a good UCAT are at an advantage over RUK applicants because of the ring-fenced places.

Might be if interest to 2021 applicants considering gap year application - July to August in EU might be enough if EU applicants get same terms for 2021!

Sorry, meant July to September

Please can I join? I have been following and have found the posts to be useful as a way to keep sane. Seeing that others are in the same boat with the same stresses! DD has applied for 2020 entry. Think the updates may help others next year too. So far, DD has two offers from Newcastle and Nottingham, both AAA. Awaiting Cardiff and Leeds.

MedSchoolRat · 15/02/2020 22:38

Hi Hopeful -- R U able to share what the grade offer is for your DD? it's great she has 2 offers (DD also has 2 offers, UCL & Kings both AAA*, plus her 5th choice has offered and I'm not sure what grades they want!).

5th choice is a London Uni to do philosophy (yup, left field). She is considering an offer holder day to attend next week...

Hopefulmed · 15/02/2020 23:03

Hi MedSchool
Congratulations to your DD on her offers including her fifth. Hope she enjoys the offer holder day. My DD has offers of AAA for both schools. No 5th choice.

Origamiheaven · 16/02/2020 09:20

Awaiting Sheffield news.. maybe tomorrow

mumsneedwine · 16/02/2020 10:48

Good luck to you all and congratulations to those with offers. I pop back here to see how you're all getting on as remember this horrible limbo period as being so so tough. It's not over until it's over !! One of DDs friends was rejected then offered an interview a few months later and is now in her 2nd year.

Shangrilalala · 16/02/2020 16:52

@nuttychoc Can I pick your brains about the Newcastle premier inn? Did your DD feel comfortable there on her own? We’ve booked it for the night before an offer day for DD. She knows the city really well as DH grew up and qualified there and we have lots of support but she wants a taste of doing it on her own. I am pleased to encourage this. She’s getting a late(ish) flight and then a taxi to the hotel. Anything that your DD said that might be useful?

She’s doing two other offer days on her own but they don’t require an overnight stay. It’s all very exciting and I want to make it as easy as possible for her. I’d also love her to firm Newcastle - but don’t tell her that! 😬

nuttychoc · 16/02/2020 19:13

Hi Shangrilalala, my dd had no problems what so ever staying at the premier inn. She said it was clean and safe with someone on reception. She hadn't been to Newcastle before but found it no problem finding her way around. She arrived Newcastle airport about 5pm and then took the metro into the centre and walked about 10 minutes to the hotel.
She hasn't had the email regarding offer days yet but I think they are a good thing to do if they can go,especially if they are still undecided. Good luck to your daughter, she's lucky to have family and friends close by and be familiar with the city.

Shangrilalala · 16/02/2020 20:26

Thanks Nutty, that’s great to know. Despite her desire to be independent, I still worry stupidly. Best to your DD too!

Monkey2001 · 16/02/2020 22:03

We all worry about them even though they are (nearly/)adults and some people their age are already parents themselves.

One thing with hotels - DS went to interviews before he was 18 and most hotels have a policy that you have to have somebody over 18 in each room. Nobody checked his age, but it is something to be aware of if they are not 18.

Good luck tomorrow to the Sheffield folk!

Hi all, nothing from Sheffield yet today, nerve racking. BUT my DS found email in spam from Birmingham with notification they will be making him an offer. Hurray, at long last. Email was sent Friday but he'd missed it. He messaged friend who also found email in spam. So note... Check your spam!

kingofkings · 17/02/2020 18:21

Ds has e mail from Liverpool today just saying to book accommodation ( no offer yet)

Monkey2001 · 17/02/2020 19:30

Congrats @Chickpeamad sorry he missed out on a weekend of relief! Leicester e-mails all go to Spam too.

Sheffield Track updates all happen at 18:01 - I had forgotten that from last year. Quite a big batch today, but by no means all. Nothing here.

Origamiheaven · 18/02/2020 18:24

Reserve list here for Sheffield for ds. Has 2 other offers though so hes fine with it

ladsmum · 18/02/2020 19:47

Sheffield offer here - so amazingly relieved. Was sat in a bar in French ski resort stalking DSs UCAS account when the offer came through. He hadn’t checked yet (he was putting the hens to bed when I rang) but he’s completed made up. Now the hard work begins Smile

SleightOfMind · 18/02/2020 20:04

DS has Sheffield and insurance offer of maths from Imperial (which he really doesn’t want to do).
Waiting to hear from Leics, Kent and Medway and have interview with Aberdeen in March.
I’m managing to maintain a sanguine attitude to proceedings but DH is a mess and calls me at work during the day, every day, to ‘make sure DS has checked his junk folder’.

The little ones content themselves with teasing DS about how much poo, pus and puke he’ll have to deal with.

Chickpeamad · 18/02/2020 21:24

Also sheffield offer in the bag, thank goodness. We'll done all 👏good luck with the final furlong of revision and exams.

kingofkings · 18/02/2020 22:34

Ds said some people on the student room had offers today from Cardiff at six thirty ( not him)
