Hello, by the way. Although DS has applied for Oxbridge I feel this thread may be more in my comfort zone, especially as that dream could very easily go down the pan!

You’re very welcome. The Oxbridge thread is obviously useful for those that are having to negotiate that particular minefield but this is a general thread for everyone and anyone whose DC are applying to any uni. We’ll try not to bicker!

That's how many times since last week I've wanted to ask DD if she's heard anything/checked UCAS but have stopped myself just in time and bitten my tongue. . !

I know she'll tell me the minute she gets so much as a sniff of an offer. Well, I'm pretty sure she will. At least, I hope she will.

And I know she's far more anxious than me about it all so don't want to bring it up un necessarily. The waiting and wondering is a killer though isn't it?!

DD has got her third offer, from York, ABB for History.

DD has just received an offer from Durham. AAA dropping to ABB if she makes it her firm choice. Their standard offer for her course is A*AA. I was convinced they only sent out offers in March & only communicated on Fridays.

@hesmylobster -I shall be the same... although in fairness DD can be fairly loud so I think I will know when she has received any offers.

aibut- well done to your DD on her third offer.

@Hoghgyni and @aibutohavethisusername whoop whoop. I'd do a jig for you both but I'm on a packed commuter train and it would be tres embarrassing. Inside I'd dancing for you both.

Thanks all. Really pleased as reduced offer from AAA. The ABB stipulates A in either her History or Ancient History.

I sensed that Durham actually made quite a few early offers last year and they like DC who are sporty/Head Girl types.

@Hoghgyni @aibutohavethisusername and all other Monday offerees - fantastic!

She was head girl, coaches, plays for our local team and was worrying that her school hadn't made enough of her extra curricular stuff. Durham will be her firm choice if the place we don't mention here doesn't make her an offer. Only Edinburgh left to hear from now, but that no longer matters.

Hello - accidentally clicked on this thread (Dd has gone this year already) but thought you might like to know Dd got an offer from York within a week, Newcastle took another month. Both one grade lower due to an A in her EPQ. She didn’t put any others down on her UCAS form. Those were the only 2 she wanted.

Btw if this years Oxbridge threads are as intense as last years, don’t let your child look at them. Dd stumbled on them and even if she’d wanted to go before, I think they would have put her off!

Only 2? That was brave. I'm just delighted that although DD will almost certainly be travelling from one end of the country to another, she will now be staying in this country and not going to Scotland.

Hoghgyni many congratulations to your dd and also to aibu. I know when ds got his Warwick offer it was a huge relief in case the unmentionable does not pan out. Are Durham/York the next favourite for both?

York is DD’s third choice, she really likes UCL.

Durham, then Warwick, then York in our house.

I'm loving hearing about all the offers your dcs are getting.
Trying to get dd to finish her ps and get her applications done this week.
I will be asking her constantly if she's heard anything and probably drive her mad.
