Previous thread and hope you don't mind that I set up the next thread @juicy0. Just did it to ensure that we carry on chatting seamlessly Wink

Yes I agree. Unfortunately ds doesn't. One of flat mates says he's taking his car back to UEA with him in January. He was in the process of trying to get a parking permit. Whether or not he will get one, I don't know.
Ds says none of the properties are on a bus route. Not sure I believe that one!

GoldenRuby · 18/12/2019 10:18

DS has a bike but is planning on taking his car next year, mainly to get to away fixtures. He won't be able to park on campus so will bike in- his house is near Aldi. Some of his flat mates this year have already brought their cars up as there are places near to the Village they can park. They don't use them to go to campus, just food shops and other trips.

icanbewhatiwant · 19/12/2019 09:15

Ds was collected by a local friend yesterday. They went to Norwich to the cinema, then clubbing (it's about 50 mins drive from home) They got back 3.35am he woke us up by banging about downstairs then in and out the bathroom several times. I didn't really get back to sleep, he will now sleep till afternoon whereas the rest of us had to get up for work or school! Not impressed 😡

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/12/2019 15:22

Merry Christmas everyone.

DS has now come down with the lurgy that his sister had last week. Hopefully, he will be better by the 25th

Oh no @NewModelArmyMayhem18 hoping you are all well enough to enjoy Christmas together.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/12/2019 17:44

Thanks @juicy0. Yes, I hope so too. I can count on a couple of fingers the number of times everyone has been well over Christmas, since the children were born. Sighs.

juicy0 · 23/12/2019 23:52

Went for a dog walk this morning and the ziggs were looking great against the beautiful Norfolk blue sky.
Merry Christmas to you and your families. Let's see what 2020 brings our DC.......

best wishes to all for the festive season. A new decade to look forward to, hope that the positive start for all the DCs at UEA continues. @juicy0 great pics of the Zigs :)

icanbewhatiwant · 24/12/2019 16:29

Yes happy Christmas to everyone. I hope you are all enjoying them being home too. 😄

sluj · 25/12/2019 10:55

Happy Christmas UEA mums!
For once, my boys are quite happy with the extra pants and socks they have had amongst their presents. Thank you Campus Launderette! Grin

icanbewhatiwant · 26/12/2019 16:25

Ds is heading off to visit his new girlfriend on Saturday. He met her at UEA. She lives in Lincolnshire. It's a 2 and half hour drive from here. He passed his test over a year ago but has never really driven anywhere unfamiliar. So I will worry a bit about his journey. It'll do him good though I know. But I can't help being worried.
He's staying the night and home the next day. So if any of you have a lad arriving Saturday it could be mine 😁

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 27/12/2019 08:24

Good for your DS @icanbewhatiwant. Hope he is okay with the long drive. Hopefully, the roads won't be too busy.

Thanks @NewModelArmyMayhem18
I'm pleased he has a girlfriend. I think he felt a bit awkward around girls. Sharing a flat with so many girls has made it easier.
He seems happy with university life which is the main thing.

Itscoldouthere · 31/12/2019 09:58

Wishing all a very Happy New Year, we’ve been away visiting family over Christmas.
It’s been lovely having the boys home, but also a bit surreal as this is our last get together here, it’s going to be so weird when they go back to uni knowing we won’t all be living here anymore.
New year, new start for us 😬

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 31/12/2019 10:26

@Itscoldout there, good luck with the move and your new life in Canada.

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope this next decade is going to be a very positive one!

@Itscoldouthere I didn't know you were moving abroad. I hope it all goes well for you.
It is great to have ds home. He's caught up with sleep and eaten lots of food. I think he seems more "grown up" now too. He's been talking of looking at some properties to rent later this week. All of the lads in his group can get to Norwich for the day. Whether or not they will actually meet up or not..I don't know.
Happy new year to everyone. If you are out celebrating, have fun. Being the boring person I am I shall more than likely be asleep as the new year comes in!

Itscoldouthere · 31/12/2019 13:59

Thank you for your thoughts, it’s all getting a bit real now as DH leaves properly on 12th Jan. I’m going towards the end of Jan but only for 4/6 weeks whilst we find somewhere to live, then I’ll be back in the UK to sort out house move.
I don’t know if we will still have our house at Easter, or if the boys will have to stay at uni/with friends, all unknown at the moment.
I’m sure I’m going to have some very wobbly moments especially when we take the boys back to uni, I hope you lot will put up with me and my wobbles Smile

MrsBartlet · 31/12/2019 17:02

How exciting @Itscoldouthere! Is it a permanent move? Wishing you all the best.

Itscoldouthere · 31/12/2019 17:40

@MrsBartlet no not permenant, but could be 3-5 years depending on how we get on, it’s all happened due to DH job, I’m a trailing spouse Hmm which is a bit tricky, but I’m hoping I can also make it work for me too. The DC think it’s a good idea and like the thought of coming to visit in Canada and that we are planning to buy a small flat in London which they will be able to use, but I know some of our friends think we are a bit bonkers.
It’s going to be hard to backpack, DS was joking with me that it would be cheaper to buy him new clothes than visit him at UEA to help with his laundry like I did last term!

boys3 · 31/12/2019 18:47

@itscoldouthere Canada WOW!!!!! I think you will enjoy its immensely. A couple I know, albeit with much younger DCs, moved there a couple of years ago. They absolutely love it. Whilst the distance may be great, our digital world makes communication with the DC so much easier, although granted the laundry support could be more of a challenge. :)

DS2 has regaled us with the various Y2 accommodation plans for most of his flatmates, although has nothing sorted himself yet. He seems very chilled about it though, and as the new year progresses will no doubt get something arranged. Seems more focused on the numerous upcoming Jan and Feb birthdays within his flat. :)

Best wishes for the New Year, and indeed new decade, to all.

MrsBartlet · 31/12/2019 20:09

@Itscoldouthere what a wonderful opportunity. And even better if you will have a flat in London, too. A great start to the new decade Smile

sluj · 31/12/2019 20:11

*itscoldoutthere, Best of luck with your next chapter and it will be lovely to hear how you get on. Was your choice of user name prophetic?
Happy New Year everyone

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 01/01/2020 08:12

It sounds as if you will have the best of both worlds, having a London base and your new home in Canada. Three to five years over there will give you plenty of time to explore too. Very exciting @itscoldouthere.

Are your boys very outdoors sporty? If so, they will have great fun with hiking, mountaineering, skiing etc... when they visit!
