Yippee !! Southampton has given an offer.
First real smile i have seen on him for ages

Don't know grades wanted as he just flashed his phone at me and went 🤣

bizzey · 12/01/2019 13:20

Re course work ...thanks for replying..he cant challenge his marks as he missed his deadlines ..note the Plural of that ....i got a generic e mail from school informing me .

To say i went ballistic is an understatement !
Even his younger brothers were quaking in there boots ha ha

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2019 13:28

bizzey, obviously it is not right to miss internal deadlines, but this does not trump the right to request / challenge courseowrk marks. As a subject leader, obviously I would find it a royal pita, but I'd have to bite the bullet an dput up with it . The exam boards are clear on this.

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2019 13:31

It's all in the various enthralling documents here:

www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/non-examination-assessments

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/01/2019 14:56

Crikey, those documents are a 'dry' read, Piggy - I fell by the wayside reading the first one...

Ahhh another offer came in yesterday for me! Law at Brighton uni. Smile

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2019 15:46

They are indeed! But school exams officers have read and circulated them and schools have to follow them!

Laniakea · 12/01/2019 15:53

good new about the offers Bizzey & Water!

dd's still not sure whether she'll have one or two interview(s). She got an email from each course this morning, both said a 30 minute interview & 5 minute presentation. She's registered for both & will contact them next week to see if they really want to interview her twice (she's applied for the MSci & the BSc in the same subject)!

It looks like the offer holder day in Cardiff is going to clash with a biology PAG (which absolutely can't be moved because this is the reserve date), it's her theoretical insurance & she knows nothing about the course beyond what little there is in the prospectus. She needs to see if there's an alternative date for that too.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/01/2019 16:05

Good news Bizzey and waterplease. Laniakea I cannot believe that they would need to interview her twice (are they on the same day?) surely?

bizzey · 12/01/2019 16:10

waterplease wonderful news !

piggywaspushed thank you for links .
As regards to helicopter patenting fŕom oter thread ha ha how is anyone going to learn if no one helps them.

The trip to Costa occurred. DS kept looking at the door as if contemplating making a run for the county line.

Still, we established we will wait til he 'stinks it out' in the Feb mocks to make a decision and that we may go to Lincoln and Aberystwyth offer days.

Laniakea · 12/01/2019 16:25

I think it would be well OTT to interview her twice! Both on the same day, she needs to be there between 11am & 5pm.

Aurea · 12/01/2019 16:33

Fantastic news waterplease. I knew you were a little worried.

I'm pleased to report my DS has all 5 offers for Law back.

Three unconditional offers (Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen) and two with conditions - Durham AAA and OXFORD!!!! AAB.

This is pretty massive for my DS as very few Scottish state students apply to Oxbridge, let alone get offers.

He will firm Oxford and put Edinburgh down as his unconditional insurance.

Super proud and happy Smile

I hope more fantastic offers come through for others....,,

Piggywaspushed · 12/01/2019 16:37

Wow , that's fabulous news and a great offer from Oxford. The sky is the limit!

Laniakea · 12/01/2019 16:40

Wow Aurea that’s fabulous - you must all be over the moon Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/01/2019 16:50

Well done to your DS, Aurea.

Laniakea, I would have thought one interview (maybe for the MSc) would suffice - surely that would 'kill two birds with one stone'?

And impressed that the Costa-run resulted in a 'maybe' to offer holder open days. DS is still emphatic that he doesn't want to go...

Shimy · 12/01/2019 17:39

Waterplease - Congratulations!
Piggy re Costa 😂 DS just completed his mocks. His feedback is, ‘I think they went well?”, (notice the question mark)
Laniakea - how did you hear about the offer dayrom Cardiff? DS swears he hasn’t heard anything.

Danglingmod · 12/01/2019 17:59

Ds's mock results in - achieved his predicted grades so all good. Just needs to make his decision (2 unconditionals) and will probably go to offer holders days at both.

LoniceraJaponica · 12/01/2019 18:31

DD acheived her predicted grades in her December mocks, but slipped up in her Easter mocks. It was a wake up call as she did manage to achieve her predicted grades at A level.

LoniceraJaponica · 12/01/2019 18:33

"He will firm Oxford and put Edinburgh down as his unconditional insurance."

Did Edinburgh ask for the same grades?

I only ask as DD's BF put Edinburgh down as his insurance after Oxford (with the same grades) and he got rejected from both.

LoniceraJaponica · 12/01/2019 18:34

Ignore my post Aurea

That is fantastic news indeed. Well done to your DS.

Danglingmod · 12/01/2019 19:52

I don't think ds has any more mocks, Lonicera? Easter is very close to the actual exams, isn't it?

Aurea · 12/01/2019 20:22

No worries Lonicera, but to further explain we're Scottish so my DS Is applying with Highers which have already been achieved so the Edinburgh offer is unconditional as per many Scottish students applying to Scottish institutions.

Laniakea · 12/01/2019 20:34

Shimy they emailed her - I think it was fairly soon after the offer came in. There were a few dates available iirc.
