So with regard to unconditional offers , I’m pretty sure you can’t use them as an insurance offer , from the UCAS website .....

By accepting an unconditional offer you are committing to go to that uni or college, so you can't make an insurance choice or be entered into Clearing.

My daughter has had 1 interview so far resulting in an unconditional offer , she has 3 interviews after Christmas and 1 uni still to respond so bit of a dilemma here

Also got a lovely bunch of flowers from DS's friend's mum today for helping with his PS. He has had 4/5 offers so they are chuffed!

mumwithovertime am I right in thinking that your DD (should she wish to accept the unconditional offer she has 'in the bag') would have to withdraw from being considered by the other universities at this point in time? Presumably it would be a no-brainer if it was her preferred choice? It's all a bit final isn't it, at this stage, to be making such a decision?

At this point she plans to go to all the interviews and see what happens , the uni that offered unconditional is lower down the rankings but she did like it there . It wasn’t her top choice but if should got an offer from her top uni it would be AAB which is achievable but by no means guaranteed.The uni that made the unconditional generally asks for ABB so it does give her a dilemma , to be decided after all interviews

Good luck to her with upcoming interviews and decision-making, mumwithovertime - it's not a decision I would want to have to make. Indeed I'm rather hoping that DS doesn't get any as I think he'd make a rash one which he might later regret! It's a difficult call, isn't it?

That means that if you make an unconditional your firm choice, you cannot enter an insurance (also you don't need one, of course).

If instead you accept a conditional offer as your firm choice then it’s OK to accept an unconditional offer as your insurance choice. Sorry no idea how I've ended up clicking on this thread but I know that Leicester offer unconditionals that don't need to be firm choice, dd had one from them last year and she used it as insurance. So maybe other unis do the same.

OK, DS has clicked the right buttons on UCAS Conservatoires (essentially an unconditional offer, based on auditions + interviews), and so we now know where he's off to next year. Eeep.

Hello again ...i have been following these threads and then loose you for a bit !! Finally UCAS Form has been sent...today . (Which is good as heaf of 6th form retires tomorrow!!) Delay was teacher/school reference thing.

Plus they have changed his predicted grades from AAB to AAA because his B was geography.

Just hope this does not go against him if he gets the AAB ...Which the course wants .

We/ he have Southamton Bristol and Plymouth as choices.

Much excitement last night when DC1 got an email from York saying they'd make it Unconditional if Firm. York isn't their first choice but it's lovely to have that in the bag before Christmas.

I have booked DS on to a Maths revision course on the 3rd and 4th January to help kick start the New Year. Shall I wrap him a voucher to open on Xmas day?!
Some of the offers will include a grade requirement for Maths so worth doing everything he can.
Just to confirm - he does know about the course and agreed to it! I wouldn’t have booked him on it in a pushy parent kinda way if he didn’t want to do it.

DS just got a lower offer from Durham than he got for Exeter!?

Congrats to your DS NewModel. He's probably got one of the last offers of 2018 from them as they've notified DD they're closed until New Year
