Sounds fab. Think my DD would have liked it but the distance from us is extreme.

Agree Hull accommodation still the best I've seen too.

Thanks for the information about the offer holders day at UEA, all sounds very good. Also, interesting about the benefits of intercalation, I didn't know any of that. It's always seemed a bit of a mystery to me, so good to know it has advantages (they all intercalate at Edinburgh) which is my son's first choice.

Another column to add to next cohort spreadsheet. Intercalation opportunities.? Also seems for some pro section vs dissection. So much to think about but most of all apply smart and get an offer - then work to get the grades. I won’t relax for months ... Gin

We are going on a road trip over Easter visiting all her offers (should have all replies by then). Looking forward to nights out pretending to be a student 😁

We went to a Cardiff offer holders afternoon last week. It was good and really confirmed to my daughter that she likes their course. They had a mini CBL session which she also really enjoyed - parents had a Q & A session which was helpful and not!

We also only got to see one sort of accommodation, and were only at the medical school which is in the hospital complex. Some of the lectures are in the main bit of the Uni but we've not really seen that, which is a shame, but because we haven't been to a general open day. DD said ideally she'd like Cardiff's course in Leicester's campus! So who knows. She's been busy with her ballet show all weekend so I don't think that she's really thought much about it since!

We have a lucky bunch with decisions to make, as head of UEAs course said if you are in that fortunate position take your time, 5 years is a long time... Not sure if DD will decide to go to Liverpool offer holders or not, I think chatting with school friends gives a different perspective and some have Liverpool for other courses. An A4 envelope arrived from UEA today - written confirmation of offer?

2B1GMum I was amazed at some of the questions asked at the Sheffield open day. Again loads about fees and also job opportunities after !?!? Not sure Julian was impressed with the boy who asked what percentage of his lectures he was allowed to miss!

Fantastic news of yet more offers! What an amazing outcome. 4 out of 4 Somerset, what an accomplishment to be immensely proud of. What a decision to make indeed.

DD went to Manchester's open day yesterday. She went on the coach on Sunday, stayed at the hostel and back today, her first trip on her own. I didn't realise how much I hoped she would love it until she said that the day went great. The structure of day was not much different to what she'd done before so I thought she might be bored, but clearly not. She said she loved the Uni and she was really impressed with the facilities and technology at Manchester.

So it looks like the decision is final, crossing fingers all goes well with her A levels and my baby will be off to Manchester for 5 years. Still can't get my head around it! Manchester was her default choice, she was actually against it because of what she'd assumed was the structure of the course and I think she only put it down because her UKCAT results almost assured her an interview. Never been to Manchester before, no open day visit, never really thought it would end up number 1!

Funny how these things turn out! DD so wanted Hull & despite 4/4, because she was allocated York campus she feels like they turned her down.

However Leic was her second choice, post interview, & she likes their course better so once again, it all worked out too. It's also closer to home.

I would reiterate to anyone applying 2019 that 4/4 interviews was not due to stellar grades or stellar Ukcat, Borh were good but not brilliant. it was just down to homework & smart choices. Getting the offers was down to interview performance & preparation (& oh to be a fly on the wall! - no idea how she pulled that off )- she can't quite believe it's happened.

Same here Somerset. To help future applicant mums my DD has 6 A*s, 4As and a UKCAT of 2730. So good but for a medic not top by any means. However with careful applying 4 interviews, and with not much interview prep (she read a book about possible questions) somehow all offers - think she was just herself and they could see she really wants to be a doctor.
Mine can't decide as loves them all so next week we will be doing a tour of each city. And hoping can sneak in to see Mrs Schools again. Am hoping I can talk her out of going to Liverpool again as been 3 times and it's a long way.
Congratulations to us all and to everyone applying next year I suggest getting in a stock of booze.

Well done to all those DC with Liverpool offers, you must all be very proud!
Are any more offers due out or is that it? Think Bristol still randomly sending out a few but is anyone waiting for any more? Big decisions to be made then!

Well done to those who got Liverpool offers!

Let's hope all our DC manage to choose where to go now...... and get those A level grades! I'm hoping that now the ballet show is over a bit more work will be done!

Congratulations to all the other Liverpool offer holders! Its such a nice feeling - its doesn't seem long ago I thought DS wouldn't get any - now 3 (still peeved at Nottingham!). I think DS will choose Sheffield as he really loved the open day and says he feels that the way they have run everything from start to finish gives him confidence that the course will be well run.
Just the grades now!

shank2 DD had an interview on 14 december, not sure if there were many after that?

adrinkofwater · 27/03/2018 13:26

I know DD had one on 11th December at Leicester and I think they were all that week in several places and some had them the following week too I think.

Movingmountains are you still going to the Bristol Offer holders day?

Shank2 my DD had interview at Leicester 19 December, after school had broken. But, most places let you choose from a selection - though HYMS (early Dec) & Sheffield (24/1) just allocated if I remember & don't much approve of requests to change. We chose Liverpool & I think Leicester (theirs was from a very small selection - think it was a choice of 19/12 or 4/1 if my memory serves). Some, like Liverpool didn't start interviewing until well after Christmas & some I know were in Feb half term.

I'm sure Plymouth did theirs before Xmas too.

Bristol - very random process!

Adrinkofwater I don’t think DS will go now as he will firm and insure Sheffield and Liverpool (not finalised the order!) so Bristol will be rejected. This was his thinking last night anyway .....

Really well done on the Liverpool offers, I had a feeling it would be good news for you all after DD's early one (because of deferred entry), she found it toughest of the lot but felt having it last helped.

Movingmountains so lots of parents asking the same frustrating questions, I stopped listening after a while. Hilarious asking about what lectures to miss....

DD has decided she won't visit Liverpool again, she has been twice and Liverpool has slipped to third place - because she loves the strong PBL courses on offer at UEA & HYMS. But I think there is lots positive about Liverpool, least of all being in the centre of the city and the new hospital being built close by.

And agree again about choices, but also I like to think that there is something the interviewers can see and are looking for when it comes to future doctors. Common sense, Maturity, Empathy, genuine etc. Having seen two highly academic students get turned away a few years ago, I am sure one lacked the genuine passion and maybe the other was a bit too confident and also interviewed at 2 of the most oversubscribed?

I found positives in every medical school too and as DD & I both said, at the start 'just the chance of one interview and maybe with luck one offer' it was good to know that she would have been very happy with any of her choices.

Now for some more organic chemistry..luckily not me Grin
