How fantastic SomersetS...her favourite as well! Bet you’re the smiliest (my best guess!) mum around this evening too, perhaps with the exception of specialted that is! 😊

Abra1de · 02/02/2018 18:48

Congrats to all offer holders and their mothers!

Minikew · 02/02/2018 19:07

Congrats to all - must be a such a relief. I will be glad when we have all decisions so DD can concentrate on grades 😉

adrinkofwater · 02/02/2018 19:15

Congratulations to everyone who got an offer today!
No news from Leicester today for DD, but fortunately she has got it in her head that she wont hear back from anywhere until after half term, so I'm doing all the stressing on my own!

Abra1de · 02/02/2018 19:19

We didn’t get any offers for DD until after half-term last year. One rejection, during HT.

specialted · 02/02/2018 20:40

Thank you all for your comments everyone, feel very touched! and big congrats to your DD SomersetS! Brilliant to get her first choice offer!

Really keeping everything crossed for those waiting for news.

specialted · 02/02/2018 20:42

2B1Gmum thank you, may well be in touch if that's ok to ask about halls etc

biscuit2000 · 03/02/2018 08:53

Wow the thread has picked up a pace over the last few days! Many congratulations to DCs (and mums who have been "enjoying" the emotional journey along with them).
Still waiting here. Cardiff should be this month, possibly during half term and then Queens Belfast in mid April!!!
Still trying to keep DD upbeat and focused on studies but at least her interviews and interview offers/rejections are over so that's one less distraction. I really feel for those waiting to do or hear about interviews when peers have got offers - it just adds to the pressure.
Haven't even started thinking about the next stage as it may not happen this year. Haven't even looked into the student loan process yet - which is very unlike me - it almost feels tempting fate.
Hang on in there all waiting mums. Smile

watfordmummy · 03/02/2018 09:59

Yes congratulations to those with offers, we won't hear from our until at least March so it just feels so drawn out.

Needmoresleep · 03/02/2018 10:36

To echo Abra1de, DD did not hear from three till late March. There were others on the thread, or lurking, who picked up offers in May and August. Worse as everyone else at school is talking about offer days and accommodation, or able to put their heads down to focus on meeting grades.

Perhaps a good exercise in time management. The only thing you can really impact are grades. This has to be the focus. And easy to see why having been through it once re applicants often do well. There is a lot of learning to be gained from having been through the process before.

One of the nicest things that happened to DD was in March when her friend congratulated her on her offer. He had just been rejected for the fourth time, so understood how much the offer meant to her. A lovely boy, and something I hope that has cemented a long-term friendship, despite their different directions.

Abra1de · 03/02/2018 10:40

That shows real grace. I hope that he went on to great things.

Needmoresleep · 03/02/2018 10:57

Abra1de, actually yes. He became an intern in a very different area
and did so well that he was promoted twice and his employer offered him a seriously impressive salary to skip University and stay on. The last time DD saw him, he was just about to head off to New York for a meeting. He has decided to go to University, though not medicine. He is very bright, and I think that when he looks back he will consider that the medical schools did him a favour by rejecting him.

But tough at the time. And some impressive maturity. DD was very grateful because she had worried about telling him her good news.

Abra1de · 03/02/2018 11:04

Lovely coda to the story!

Needmoresleep · 03/02/2018 11:22

And the third member of their group (I think they had taken to hiding in a corner of the sixth form common room) got her first choice Medical School on reapplication.

That said, I think the pressure and distraction did affect DDs grades. Luckily Bristol's standard offer is one of the less demanding.

Katisha · 03/02/2018 15:48

Hi all. Another Nottingham offer here for DS. He's got one more interview to go in a couple of weeks. So far it's been a couple of rejections but thank goodness this offer now. He liked the campus a lot.

muddlethro · 03/02/2018 16:09

Congratulations to your DS Katisha...one is all it takes! My daughter’s friend has just started veterinary science at Nottingham, having already done a 3 year pharmacy degree there, so it must be a great place to study! 😊

specialted · 03/02/2018 16:14

Great news Katisha! Will your DS put as firm choice? My DD will I think, even though she's not heard back from others yet.

Abra1de · 03/02/2018 16:24

Yay, Katisha!

Woodenhillmum · 03/02/2018 17:12

So lovely to hear of all these offers .Nottingham is lovely 😊

SomersetS · 04/02/2018 12:14

Great news Katisha.

SomersetS · 05/02/2018 07:07

Back on the rollercoaster. Liverpool today for us.
Good luck ladies & your DCs whatever this week holds.

Movingmountains · 05/02/2018 08:25

SomersetS - good luck for Liverpool today. We are next week. DS very nervous as it is his favourite. Congratulations to everyone who got offers last week. Such a relief #justoneoffer!

specialted · 05/02/2018 09:12

Yes good luck at Liverpool to everyone!

LoniceraJaponica · 05/02/2018 09:29

DD had a rejection from Nottingham, but a "we still want you to come to Nottingham here are some other courses instead". She applied for medical physiology and therapeutics and received an offer for that.

Leicester interview next week. Still not heard from the other 2 universities yet.

muddlethro · 05/02/2018 09:49

So sorry to hear about your DD’s rejection from Nottingham LoniceraJaponica, but very much hope for an offer for her, and for the other DC on this thread who are still waiting too.
