Congratulations and commiserations.
This was us four years ago, made worse by the fact Warwick, UCL and LSE kept DS waiting till March. Two rejections one offer, but DS was absolutely happy with where he ended up, got a good first and has stayed on for a Masters, rejecting an offer from Oxford in the process. He is now awaiting the results of his PhD applications.
He now has no regrets about not getting a Cambridge offer. This was not so at the time. He was pretty much knocked for six, especially as he was only one of his friends who went through the spring term without a place. I realised that as an A* type boy, the problem was not Cambridge per se, but the fact that this was the first time he had really experienced rejection. Coinciding with the first application of his adult life. The solution, other than waiting it out, was to revert to doing family things like a weekly trip to the cinema. Whatever else goes wrong, family are there.
The silver lining is that he is now much more robust about rejection. Being willing to have a go is important. I don't know if everyone has seem this: www.princeton.edu/~joha/Johannes_Haushofer_CV_of_Failures.pdf but it might help put things in context.
I hope all the DC, wherever they end up, have a great time.
