Thank you needmore for mentioning the academics! I’ve been lurking on this thread this term while I’ve been lecturing to, planning for, organising trips for, having seminars and 1-2-1s with, listening to, being exasperated by, worried by, amused by and emailed at 3am by your children. It’s been my first term, too.
Honestly, they are a lovely bunch. It’s a privilege to teach them and I’m full of hope for a future in their hands.
I’m exhausted beyond words, and in my whole two weeks “off” I’ve got 30 projects to mark, units to plan, admin to do, meetings to attend and Christmas to have. Any student who asks me on return how I enjoyed my “holiday” will be met with a very stern look.
But I just wanted to let you know that while they are away at uni, if all places are anything like mine, your young people are supported and those who engage are stretched, encouraged and appreciated.
Maybe I’m just tired and emotional, but I am very fond of ‘my lot!’ I hope you all have a Happy Christmas.
