I may have shed a tear as I have been worrying if hes up to the work standard.
I did the same when ds (asd and also on full dsa) told me he had got the same. He hadn't realised what the significance of 70% was. Its such a relief to know that he can hold his own.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 12/12/2017 16:18

Lovely to read everyone's end of term news.

DD is just finishing up her last lab report, had a Thanksgiving meal with flatmates the other night ( one from US), and I've bought my train ticket to meet her at her grandparents home on Friday!

Still have to think about my Christmas shopping this week - people will need the odd pressie!

simbobs · 12/12/2017 16:56

It's great to hear good news stories from people's DC. Hope mine has actually had some work graded so that I know whether to worry or not. Keeps things very close to her chest.

Needmoresleep · 12/12/2017 17:00

I am waiting for a picture of the puppy...

Eve · 12/12/2017 17:27

eatyourveg - ( and everyone else) thank you - when you know they have to work that amount harder than everyone else to stay level its hard not to worry and feels so much more of an achievement.

The dictation software provided by DSA is making a massive difference.

He did cunningly tell me the mark and then ask for a new LP as he had done so well - he has a bad LP habit!! - and I'm a pushover so give in and ordered it for him!

Needmoresleep · 12/12/2017 20:25

No exams till the start of next term, but I am really proud that DD managed to work her way through the DSA paperwork. (Though still one eye test to go - thank you for reminding me to chase for the promised Christmas holiday appointment). There is a huge volume of material to learn, but she is lucky that lectures are recorded. I know she has re-watched some, as this is much easier than trying to take stuff in by reading.

Well done your DCs! I will feel very relieved when I know she has successfully made the step up to tertiary education.

PilarTernera · 13/12/2017 10:09

I love a cute puppy picture too simbobs Wink

DD also has exams at the start of next term. This week it's all revision lectures. She hasn't mentioned the grades she got for any of her work. I'm not worried, she seems very happy and positive about her course.

She will be home on Saturday afternoon, then straight out on Saturday night to a Christmas party. Almost like she never left ...

Eve · 13/12/2017 11:21

Needsmoresleep - the DSA process is a bit of a nightmare - DS has got his equipment, but still trying to set up the 1 to 1 specialist tuition!

DS finds the lecture recording invaluable and he also has software that will read scanned documents to him.

...look forward to puppy pictures.

Creature2017 · 13/12/2017 11:28

Mine was back briefly over night (for a concert) and is driving back today (first time driving quite that far so I hope he's okay. I'cve already warned the biggest risks are other driver. Make sure you leave loads of stopping difference on motorways). He and his brother will be home on Sunday. He has lectures this week so we are not quite over yet here for Christmas which is just as well as I have loads of work until 23rd.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 13/12/2017 11:37

I am rubbish at keeping up with threads

But i hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas holiday with their precious babies Grin

Until we all get pissed off with them...

My boy is back on Saturday, he is doing ok at uni...enjoying the lifestyle and seems to be managing the work

He got a 2.1 on one assessment and a 3 on another as it appears he accidentally plagerised...he really needs to get to grips with the referencing!!

Anyway...merry Christmas all

Creature2017 · 13/12/2017 13:00

Well done Rufus. Mine did not say much - he's just left again in the car with my warnings about driving carefully (his biggest drive ever is today back to the university). He did say he'd played his trumpet for a Christmas thing and I said "in the chapel" (they have a hall chapel). No, in the bar. I laughed as it was so typical of students. Anyway it was nice to hear him playing the piano just now before he left. He's taken their printer back with him to keep there and all the spare toner which is a good idea. I suggested they took it in September.

HSMMaCM · 13/12/2017 14:13

Rufus I gave DD a long lecture about referencing, so she didn't get accused of plagiarism. I could see her eyes glazing over as I spoke.

She still hasn't had her software training for her DSA stuff Sad.

Also waiting for puppy pics Grin

BehindTheBlueDoor · 13/12/2017 14:28

DS spent what seemed like ages recently referencing so here's hoping the time he spent paid off. He too has exams after Christmas so some time will be spent revising during time at home.
My food shopping has doubled in preparation for his coming home on Sunday but really looking forward to having my fridge properly raided again for a while Wink

RedHelenB · 13/12/2017 16:26

Simbob - so glad you're getting another dog. My youngest is besotted with our puppy and it makes up for dd1 absence a bit! Never had a dog before but he's been as good as gold!

eatyourveg · 13/12/2017 19:43

it was nice to hear him playing the piano just now

Oh yes - same here definitely! Hadn't realised just how much I had missed listening to ds play.

BackforGood · 13/12/2017 20:06

Grades? Work ? Assessments ? Assignments ?

You mean they are supposed to be working ? Shock

Grin I've only heard about social things, after a couple of questions about washing in the firs couple of weeks. Hmm
bebumba · 13/12/2017 20:46

Ds comes home on Friday. He has had revision lectures this week and part of last week and has exams on his return to uni.
He is looking forward to catching up with his mates on Saturday and going to see the Star Wars film.

dolfinne · 13/12/2017 21:06

DD is not home until 23rd but i ive ordered her a new suitcase to send to here as last time she came home she struggled carrying her heavy bag to the coach stop, now im panicking it will be too big to be delivered to the halls reception if shes not in

bigTillyMint · 14/12/2017 17:03

DD appeared at the window last night - surprise return (was meant to be Fri) for DHs birthday! I was off out an hour later but DS and DH were home. She came back with a borrowed wheelie and a huge kit bag, a rucksack and some plastic bags. She says none of it needs washingHmmGrin

MorvahRising · 14/12/2017 18:17

I’m picking DS up on Saturday; he’s only been home once this term so really looking forward to seeing him! Roast lamb has been requested for the first night back.

Creature2017 · 14/12/2017 18:25

I keep texting them things to remember to bring home on Sunday (not least their passports). Mine still has lectures and they both have exam week very early in January so I am not sure how relaxing the Christmas holiday will be other than our week away.

bigTillyMint · 14/12/2017 19:44

Creature, the week away should give you all a good break.

DD is off clubbing tonight with local friends who have/havent been away at uni. AIBU to dread being woken in the middle of the night after 13 weeks of noone moving about at night?!

HSMMaCM · 14/12/2017 20:09

2:1 for her first exam Grin

Picking DD up tomorrow. I've also been reminding her about packing - Christmas tree, damp bath towel, MEDICINE, etc.

She wants her boyfriend to come and stay for the entire holidays. I know she's an adult, but I'm offering 2-3 days a week.

LineyRunner · 14/12/2017 21:47

AIBU to dread being woken in the middle of the night after 13 weeks of noone moving about at night?!

You're not the only one, bigTilly, not the only one ...

HSMMaCM · 14/12/2017 21:57

Oh yes, the 3am coming home when I have work in the morning. I can't wait. But also ... I can't wait Grin
