Oh yes AuntP, I agree with that recipe! Also like spuds sliced and layered on top and baked for Lancashire hotpot, though havent made either in years!

Auntpetunia2015 · 27/10/2017 16:12

True scouse that is BTM. Nice to see it made it over the water ..Wink

So DS missed first bus but is on next one and not far now. He's just text the ask where he gets off??

bigTillyMint · 27/10/2017 17:28

AuntP, both my parents were Scousers (my dad was from Fazakerly and mum from Fairfield) and I was born and lived in West Derby for my first 3 years Smile

Have a great time with your DS.

HeadlessHorsemad · 27/10/2017 17:30

Aah, bTM West Derby is where my family were from. Smile

HSMMaCM · 27/10/2017 17:32

Tried to book a weekend with DD at the end of November for DH's birthday, but she said she's not sure, because it's exam week. Something else for me to worry needlessly about. Can't do anything about it anyway ... apart from maybe not book up get weekend.

simbobs · 27/10/2017 17:51

Thanks for your comments re having to pick up DD but I think she is just being lazy and taking us for granted. Normally DH could easily go and stay over with relatives in the area but not this time as they are on holiday, so it means going up and back, so 6 hours of driving. I will check whether there is a coach to our nearest city, though.

simbobs · 27/10/2017 17:56

I checked. There isn't.

Auntpetunia2015 · 27/10/2017 18:13

Erm. BTM and headless. Born and bred in West Derby till I was 24!!

Sefton on a Sunday, Barry's on Fridays..

bigTillyMint · 27/10/2017 18:19

All the best people obvs come from West Derby! My parents first flat was in Knotty Ash

dingit · 27/10/2017 18:38

I didn't realise knotty ash was a real place. Mind blown Shock

flyingpigsinclover · 27/10/2017 18:58

beetroot and brown sauce.

You aren't selling this to me, I hate beetroot and I hate brown sauce!

Haha oh dingit that's funny. My mum and dads first place was off Penny Lane and they upgraded to West Derby btm

BackforGood · 27/10/2017 19:29

Just checking in so thread appears on my 'Threads I'm on' Smile

dingit · 27/10/2017 19:50

Have to share dds Halloween make up with you. And it was from Poundland!

Larsitter · 27/10/2017 19:55

A 60% grade today when they had been threatened they would all get 40% in this first graded essay, so he is obviously doing a bit of work.

Dingit, lovely photo. Thanks.

rogueantimatter · 27/10/2017 20:22

Fabulous make up. Amazing.
Your DD is beautiful Dingit Hope that doesn't sound creepu Grin

HeadlessHorsemad · 27/10/2017 20:24

Great makeup dingit Smile

Fffion · 27/10/2017 20:26

I went up to Edinburgh to visit DD last weekend. She went to uni by herself so this was the first time I saw her flat.

She is so incredibly confident and sorted! And happy!

She'll be home in a couple of weeks for her A-level certificate presentation/speech day, so all the girls will get to make notes about their experiences.

TheMightyMing · 27/10/2017 20:53

DS scoffed him tea and has gone out for the night with his mates. Let slip that he was actually in Manchester last weekend for a concert but had 'no time' to see us so didn't let on!! Sly little dog.

He seems really happy so I can't be too mad at him.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 27/10/2017 21:10

Just back from half-term visit to DParents with DS and feeling a bit knackered
We went up to London and DGP bought DS a couple of nice birthday pressies and took us out to a nice little characterful place for lunch
and also saw a bit of my DNeice (who adores DS) and my DSis
Upcoming visit from DD next weekend is reviving my spirits though 😀
Hopefully we can all go out for a meal then with excuse of celebrating DH's birthday!

Eve · 27/10/2017 21:22

DS home for the weekend! With his washing, DS2 and I were away for 1/2 term so picked him up on the way past!

He's had a roast dinner courtesy of DH and pair of them now watching rugby together.

MorvahRising · 28/10/2017 00:20

Congratulations OddBoots!

DS is home for the weekend! It sounds like a popular weekend for return trips. He was quite late back as he has a lecture til six on Fridays which is a bit mean, but it was so lovely to see him and he seems very cheerful which is all you can ask really!

Have already put his laundry through the wash as he has to go back on Sunday morning and I wasn’t sure the jeans would be dry by then.

LineysRun · 28/10/2017 02:25

Haff, I think you're right about the health stuff. When DS was organising getting his university place and the halls place etc, I was like Monica from Friends arranging Phoebe's snow wedding with the power of a headset and adrenaline.

Now I'm a deflated omni-shambles trying to focus on myself, and feeling a bit knackered.

Onemandown · 28/10/2017 08:47

Been lurking on previous threads but really enjoyed reading and knowing not just me going through the different emotions as they all settle into uni...thank you! DS is home for the weekend, he is a very quiet, introverted soul and I had been a bit worried about how uni was going to suit him but he was glowing last night chatting about it all and how much he loves the course and his new independence. Relieved mum here :)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 28/10/2017 10:39

Awww, that's great to hear Onemandown, so glad your DS is enjoying Uni life. From what I've heard my DD is too, but hoping it will be especially nice to see her next weekend and hear more about it all from her. Hopefully I can feel more reassured that she's chosen somewhere on the other side of the country!
