Clearing the laundry basket at home and filling the fridge in anticipation of the return tomorrow! Grin

Mamam1a · 16/12/2017 09:47

Can I ask Why are mums doing so much washing? Confused why aren’t these adults doing their own washing?

Ocies · 16/12/2017 09:51

Collected dd at 3pm yesterday when her last lecture finished. Drove straight back to home town for a rehearsal and concert where she sang her socks off. On to the pub with her singing pals and then on to meet some old school friends. I’m not really expecting her to emerge from her bed much today! She’s home for six weeks now -one piece of coursework to complete but no exams this semester. She’s even managed to get some shifts at the pub she used to work at.

HSMMaCM · 16/12/2017 10:21

Maman- because we can Grin

DD will do some of ours over the holiday too, so it doesn't bother me.

We've left her in bed. Apparently she's sorting out her clothes today

BehindTheBlueDoor · 16/12/2017 11:32

Same as HSMMaCM here Maman. He'll do his fair share of household jobs over the break. He's more looking forward to having access to a dishwasher though- so he tells
me! Smile

rightsofwomen · 16/12/2017 11:37

maman.** DS’s response to me asking whether he’d washed his bed linen was “loads of times, Mum, you were holding me back”!

BestIsWest · 16/12/2017 12:11

Rights Grin. My DS has always done his own bedding as apparently I don’t do them frequently enough for his liking.

Horsemad · 16/12/2017 13:22

Mine's home! Grin Footy cancelled due to frozen pitch, so he's in bed asleep and off out with his old school friends tonight.

I haven't asked about the washing situation yet but I'm not bothered if he's brought it home.

LineyRunner · 16/12/2017 14:26

Mine has learned to cook!

BrizzleDrizzle · 16/12/2017 15:36

Mine is back and has told me that they were ready to move out and are enjoying being able to eat whatever they like whenever they like and having their independence. My chosen interpretation is that I have done a good job Grin

Auntpetunia2015 · 16/12/2017 16:55

Mine is ironing !!!Shock

rightsofwomen · 16/12/2017 23:11

Am in slightly dodgy Airbnb in Southampton.
Spent evening with DS1. Ikea and Nando’s and lots of talking. I’m not one for melancholy thoughts, just get on with things, but I’ve realised just how much I’ve missed him.
He hasn’t changed.

MorvahRising · 17/12/2017 00:57

Picked DS up this morning; he had run down all his perishable food so there was nothing to bring back; I was quite impressed! And he had cleaned his bathroom and tidied up. It’s lovely to have him home. Goodness he needs a haircut though! They obviously don’t have any barber shops in Southampton . . . Hmm

He also has exams as soon as he goes back so there will be a lot of work over the holiday.

Lovely post Viewofhedges!

Eve · 17/12/2017 07:15

Mines home - and has lost weight! His jeans are 28 inch waist and now loose on him - we are now on operation fatten him up before sending back! He’s too skinny.

... and he needs a haircut!

PilarTernera · 17/12/2017 08:40

There obviously are no hairdressers in dd's uni city either Grin Luckily I have made appointments for both of us with mine before Xmas.

extinctspecies · 17/12/2017 09:14

DS also came home in bad need of a haircut. Funny because he's always been quite vain about his hair.

DH took him with him to the barber's on Friday - now much better.

BehindTheBlueDoor · 17/12/2017 09:35

DS hasn't lost weight, he's actually looking very much the same as when he went but the hair! As DH put it, thank goodness 'Wookiees' are very much on trend.

bigbluebus · 17/12/2017 10:20

DS arrived home by train yesterday. He has put on weight. He says it's because he is cooking big portions - I think he's using packs of mince nd although he says he's freezing portions, I think he must be eating large helpings first. In addition I think the large quantities of beer haven't helped.

He hasn't brought any laundry home! In fact I did text him on Friday to say I wouldn't mind if he did bring it, only for him to reply that there was no need as he had done a load yesterday and had another load on now!

He sat and chatted with us for 3 hours when he got in then ate a hearty dinner before retreating to his room to put his PJs on (at 6.30pm). He only appeared later to request fruit which he helped himself to - 2 kiwis and 2 apples. I think he's trying to make up for the lack of fruit over the last 3 months!

He's managed to get a few shifts in the bar where he worked previously during the holidays so will earn a little bit of cash. Smile

BackforGood · 17/12/2017 14:38

Rights Grin at you "holding him back"

tbf, dd hasn't brought any washing home. All under control at university apparently.

BehindTheBlueDoor · 17/12/2017 15:20

All home safe and sound-even the washing isn’t too bad. DC have argued their way through lunch. Balance has been returned to the Force!

Horsemad · 17/12/2017 15:25

Peeped in DS2's bedroom earlier and was Shock at the mess!

It's like he's never been away Grin

Eve · 17/12/2017 16:40

Ha ha horsemad... same bedroom here, it’s a tip already.

Trip to Holland and Barrett today for protein shake mix - 1000 calories in a glass Shock got few samples 1st but he likes it, so big tub for going back.

Haffdonga · 17/12/2017 16:56

Funny the same scenarios happening all over the country this weekend.

DS arrived home yesterday - his first action was cuddle the dog then check the fridge. He was half asleep after a night out that had ended at 4am with a back pack full of dirty washing and hair like a thicket. He told me
I saved getting my hair cut for home so you could pay for it , mum Hmm

But god it's great to have him back. Grin

LineyRunner · 17/12/2017 17:51

Yeah, we had the hair thing here, too.

Horsemad · 17/12/2017 19:34

Mine's got Prizegiving tomorrow night, hasn't brought any decent trousers/jeans with him. We are miles from the shops but I cannot go to Prizegiving with him dressed in what he's brought home, so off to town he'll be going tomorrow morning...
