Durham is still left to go.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/09/2017 16:49

I think Cambridge term starts on the 2nd too, freshers on Saturday, but DD's college has pre freshers events for some subjects starting on the 27th. So DH is taking her on Tuesday.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 24/09/2017 16:51

We dropped ds at Nottingham yesterday.

I had a Tesco delivery this morning. The guy arrived at the door, put down 3 crates and I waited for him to go and get the rest. But no, the order was just 3 crates. No biscuits, juice, litres of soya milk, bagels etc etc. I guess our shopping bill will be halved. Most odd.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/09/2017 17:13

Had lunch with ds1

He had a bad experience last night. One of the girls he was with last night got very drunk, threw up for three hours

The group of them got very concerned, contacted A and E who told them to ring FRANK, couldnt really hear then in the bad line, tried asking the security people for help who told them to just sit up with her

He was frightened that she was going to die and it was going to be 'his' fault

Reassured him that it sounded as if he had done everything right, recovery position and staying with her etc

eatyourveg · 24/09/2017 17:28

Horse Newcastle must have a thing about pet cafes. We came across this cat cafe and dog cafe when we dropped ds - only a few doors apart.

RedHelenB · 24/09/2017 17:29

Think Tuesday for my dd s friend starting at Loughborough.

Poor ds(10) sobbed himself to sleep.last night but his sis skyped this aft. She's taken dd2s new hoodie from urban outfitters so she's not happy- It was by accident as they both had the same one.

I thought dd1 was having a quiet night in with her new flatmates but no she went off to a glitter party and it's Chris Ramsay tonight.

SoupDragon · 24/09/2017 17:33

I had a text from DS1 saying "Mum! Can you help me pleeeeease!"

He only needed some number from his banking letter. Hmm I was very disappointed my practical expertise in "stuff" was not required.

Fffion · 24/09/2017 18:06

DD's freshers' week started two weeks ago, so she has already had a week of lectures. This coming week will have all the tutorials kick in.

She's in a lovely flat in halls as close to the main campus as you get. She hasn't witnessed any outrageous drinking, and I think will always steer clear of this. she doesn't want to turn into her mother .

LineysRun · 24/09/2017 18:06

Hope you're doing ok @QuestionableMouse and settling in.

Fffion · 24/09/2017 18:08

Soup, I had a load of texts going back and forth about the immunisations she had, as she was in the process of registering with a GP. I failed as a mother as I had no actual clue.

stonecircle · 24/09/2017 18:28

Rufus - par for the course I'm afraid. DS2 likes a drink but - touch wood - can handle it. In first year one of his flatmates was scooped up by the university minibus doing the rounds and deposited home - ds had to sit up with him all night.

I don't know why freshers has to be so alcohol focused. Just spoke to DS3 who went to his freshers party last night (one of his flatmates got lost and didn't get back until 5am). He has a foam party tonight and a block party tomorrow. He sounds a bit bored with the whole thing. Not sure what the alternative is though. Afternoon tea in the common room, a celidh and a bonfire on the beach in my day!

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/09/2017 18:40

stone

Ds1 has spent just about every evening drunk

But staying awake all night to watch her just about killed him

That'll learn him Smile

BehindTheBlueDoor · 24/09/2017 18:50

Final week at home coming up for DS. He's just done Sunday night bin duty for the last time......Freshers starts on Monday 2nd and he's ready to go now; there's only him and two mates left one of whom goes to Loughborough on Tuesday and the other to Oxford on 2nd. Was too ill to worry last week but this week I'll have to keep busy at work.Confused

stonecircle · 24/09/2017 18:52

Rufus - DS2 has form for videoing his very drunk friends. I'd like to think this was to show them the error of their ways. But it's sheer devilment. He is, in his own words, "a top bevver" and has proved this so much, nobody ever challenges him to a drinking competition. ConfusedConfusedConfused

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 24/09/2017 19:06

I videoed ds1 the first time he got drunk

He was very sweet

A high strung tense child got very very languid

Think basil fawlty mophing into one of the characters from brideheads revisited

LineysRun · 24/09/2017 19:06

My DS didn't opt out of the NHS record sharing scheme, so shouldn't the new GP practice have his vaccination record?

readsalotgirl63 · 24/09/2017 19:27

dd was a little concerned that a couple of her flat mates were more into drinking/partying but she has made friends with people in the flats upstairs and last night they had a movie and pizza night.

Also as they are now at the end of the first "proper" week the drinking/partying does seem to have settled down a little.

Haffdonga · 24/09/2017 19:29

DS has just whatsapped me a photo of his lettuce so I can decide if it's ok to eat. Confused

Fffion · 24/09/2017 19:35

Does Whatsapp convey smells? :)

user327854831 · 24/09/2017 19:44

I'd have been inclined to say it looked fine but make sure to remove the caterpillar first and then let him search for it, where's wally style....but then I'm mean like that.

SoupDragon · 24/09/2017 19:45

I know what vaccinations DS1 has had as he is my PFB. DS2? Not so much... although I do know that they've all had whatever what was on offer, plus the updated meningitis one for DS1 which he had a few weeks ago.

DS only bought tickets for two Freshers events. I was a bit surprised but he is my one sensible child.

SoupDragon · 24/09/2017 19:46

I'm impressed that he has a lettuce, regardless of what state it's in. :)

HSMMaCM · 24/09/2017 19:52

DD has a bag of salad. Not sure it'll be opened. She sent the tinned sweetcorn home.

She's off to her first freshers tonight. She is Grin I am Confused

Sparklingbrook · 24/09/2017 19:54

Yes that's a bit of a stealth lettuce boast there user. DS1 has texted to ask if a chilled hotpot dated 21/9 is ok to eat.

DH said if it looks alright and smells alright and he blasts it for ages in the microwave all will be well.

bigTillyMint · 24/09/2017 19:56

Lettuce? Shock

StoneCircle, is he a scouser?

DD messaged me earlier saying that she needs a laundry basket to take her dirty washing to the laundrette Grin
I told her that she is a fool and to put it in a shopping bag Grin
