Sounds like it Fairenuff Sad Scary thought.

Isthiscorrect · 16/03/2016 18:35

Fairenuff we told the agent we wouldn't do that and low and behold there was another contract. I think they try it on and sadly no doubt it works and some people do get caught out and have to pay for those who don't pay.

Fairenuff · 16/03/2016 18:52

I think we'll try that Isthis. The Guarantee definitely states that we're only liable for her share of the rent but the tenancy agreement doesn't state the same for her so we'll just check that out.

HocusCrocus · 16/03/2016 20:21

Littleham - Grin at DD2. Ds has had a friend to stay which has largely involved them commandeering a sofa each and being on their various devices / kipping / watching TV from their respective vantage points.

Molio · 16/03/2016 21:44

Hocus one of mine has moved off the sofa and away from fixed devices to go to Suffolk, but promises to return on Friday. I got zero hours notice to take him to the station (he 'forgot' he was going).

voilets · 17/03/2016 17:18

Chat on here prompted me to look again. I just double checked my DC's tenancy agreement - phew, only liable for his rent!

He's home on Saturday. Told him to get ahead on some of his course tests then he'll get a lift! Worked! Wink

DS has confessed he is a bit of a last minute student - which causes stress - so my way of encouraging him to kick habit.
I sound like a helicopter parent I know Smile

Doing me best to let him go! Honest!

I also will have lots of ironing to do come Sunday!

[cheers] We should all be so proud they've got through best part of year!

Horsemad · 18/03/2016 21:13

My DS is home! Smile

GypsyFl0ss · 18/03/2016 21:19

My DD is home too Smile

Quietlygoingmad67 · 18/03/2016 21:25

I'm going to visit my DD tomorrow but she isn't home til 4th April - hope everyone enjoys having their DC home

2rebecca · 18/03/2016 23:13

My son's only off 4-18 April and then he'll be studying for his exams. He's just found out he's got an Erasmus place for next year though so is very excited.

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 09:41

Great news 2rebecca!

DD and I were chatting in the car yesterday on the long drive home about how much she has changed since starting uni and how lovely it is to see her life blossoming and with so much potential. I can't get my head around her being home for 5 weeks now, going back for 8 and then that will be the first year done. It all seems to have gone by in a flash , in comparison to last year where we just seemed to be permanently waiting for the next big thing.

DS decided in the last couple of days what he might like to study so we've started looking at Open days. And so it starts again Smile

Fairenuff · 19/03/2016 11:07

I know Gypsy, it's astonishing how quickly the first year has gone and how little we have had to do once we bravely waved them off.

My 16 year old ds will also be gone in just 18 months and then dh and I will be on our own again after all those years of planning, organising, packing, washing, driving, supporting, guiding and being there, we will be free to do whatever we like.

Bliss Grin

What is he going to study Gypsy? My ds still not completely sure but has got some ideas.

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 11:13

Broadcasting in some shape or form Fairenuff.

I'm smiling at your "how little we've had to do..." Comment. My DD has still managed to facetime me at least twice a day... there's no escaping her really! DS announced the other day that he will still phone me regularly " to tell you that I love you but it definitely won't be as much her" Grin

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 11:16

DH and I are very much looking forward to our child free days. We just need to slowly decrease the number of animals we have at home over the next couple of years and then we will be free to drop everything and go away . I'm still angling for half the year abroad but I suspect the costs of two at uni might put paid to that!

Fairenuff · 19/03/2016 11:27

I've been working in school since they were little but am thinking of changing my job so that I can take holidays during term time. It will be so cheap and half the cost as it will just be the two of us. We'd love to go to Rome.

Fairenuff · 19/03/2016 11:32

Btw Gypsy, feel free to join us on this long running thread in secondary. We all have dcs doing year 12 and are dealing with mock results, uni visits, etc over there Smile

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 11:36

We went to Rome last year for DH's 50th and stayed in the nicest little boutique hotel within walking distant of everything, next to the flower market and the french embassy. Let me know if you want the details, it was very reasonable and they looked after us so well.

Thanks for the link. I'm sure that's how I ended up here when it was a secondary thread that migrated once they all headed off.

Fairenuff · 19/03/2016 11:59

Yes, I followed this thread through from gcses too. I'll have to join the empty nest one next

(at losing you lot not my dcs Grin)

Your Rome trip sounds lovely, just the ticket.

Quietlygoingmad67 · 19/03/2016 12:15

I'm not sure I'll ever have an empty nest - I have a 5yr gap between DD's and dd2 has ME so not sure she will ever make or wants uni! By which time dd1 has assured me she will return to the mothership!!!

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 12:18

Lol @ returning to the mothership. I keep threatening to downsize when they're both gone to avoid that happening!

1234Littleham · 19/03/2016 12:20

Same here Quietly. By the time my 14 year old goes my oldest will probably be back!

Last time I went to Rome was when dh was a boyfriend and I had no children. I want to go back but may not run around Rome quite so quickly next time.

seimum · 19/03/2016 22:35

I have both DD1 and DD2 back in the mothership.

But we go on holiday without them (in term time).

Though we are in fact off skiing tomorrow with all of them, including DS who got back from uni yesterday.

1234Littleham · 19/03/2016 22:40

Still waiting for dd1's end of term. Why are different university terms so different?

Both are home for 4+ weeks but only two of those weeks in common.

GypsyFl0ss · 20/03/2016 07:01

DD was talking about that the other day Littleham . Her old school mates term ends are all completely different , with the Scottish unis only having a short break thus making planning meet ups a bit more challenging.

Decorhate · 20/03/2016 08:30

My dd came home yesterday. There is already makeup strewn all over the bathroom & various sleeping bodies in my living room!
