I thought I would start a new one, as the last one went a bit 'off topic'! How's everyone getting on? Am so excited, and a bit nervous, as DS has two interviews coming up! How is everyone else's DCs preparing? Also, any tips from anyone who's been there?

First tranche of Leeds interviews sent out Monday Tuesday last week. apparently lots more to be offered.
DS just got first rejection, from Sheffield .

Sorry to hear about the Sheffield rejection Carrie. Dd has also applied to Sheffield and I think it's probably the most unpredictable of all her choices as so much rides on the personal statement. Still waiting here......

So sorry Carriemac Sad. I was looking at tsr last night, and lots of people with amazing stats have been rejected by Sheffield! Confused
Still waiting to hear from them here, anxiously!

Biting my nails here... no offer / rejection / pooling email from B'ham yet (but offers and rejections are being sent out according to tsr, no word from Leeds or Sheffield either. Would be very nice to hear some good news pre Christmas (not so keen for ds to get any rejections just now!)

No news IS good news but causes nail biting! It can drag on for months so if a rejection hasn't been received then regard it as a hopeful sign.

Going back 5 years, DD had one rejection in late Nov, an interview invitation came in Dec but the interview wasn't until early March. She got an offer from that and was invited to interview at her first choice, Imperial, with very little notice in mid- March when she had given up hope for that one.
By the time Leeds got round to her in early April she had two offers and her tail was high. That was an astonishingly do-able offer so she made that her insurance.
(All this is etched into my memory because we were snowed in during most of that winter. Shovels were deployed. She set off in wellies to go to one, smart shoes in a bag.)

She reckons she had the lowest BMAT score out of 5 who took it at school but she was the only one who got into a BMAT requiring med school. Results aren't everything.
Most seem to call tranches for interview after they've been ranked by results and CV etc. but on an interview day candidates have the same chance of success as any one else there. (I reckon DD was near the bottom of the list for Leeds but aced the interview.)

The worst bit of med school application is the waiting, especially when school mates have offers by now for other subjects and are checking out accommodation. Just hang in there!

This term began in July so I can't wait to have her home tomorrow.

Looking on the bright side here as no rejections yet, but the waiting is agonising! Although I think DD is much calmer than I am. Also no post-interview word from Birmingham although TSR isn't showing many offers so perhaps they haven't given out the top 50% that is rumoured to happen? Dd has got a Leeds interview though so that has brightened things up. I really hope she doesn't have to wait until March for an offer. Certainly won't be any nails left!

Well done Oysters DD! I hear Birmingham offers are coming thorough yesterday and today so fingers crossed, it would be great for their confidence to have one before Christmas!
(though rubbish if rejected obvs)

asking if your surnames are near the end of the alphabet. Some speculating that the offers are coming in alphabetical order. Thx!

Oyster Hang on in there, my DD last year had to wait for 4 hours after two of her schoolfriends had offers from Bham, then bingo she got an offer really late in the afternoon. It was agonising and surnames didn't come into it last year so don't give up hope! Been keeping an eye on this thread out of interest. It was so intense and stressful and yet my DD ended up with 3 offers (and very short nails!!) Good luck :)

Thanks for the positive thoughts. This is really horrible at the moment! Hope surnames don't come into it as that would not be good.

After assuming that dd hadn't got a Leeds interview email as hadn't heard from her, turns out it had come through at 12 but she hadn't been checking her emails! Such relief as it is her 2nd favourite

Any more news anyone? Ds has no heard (this morning) from Leeds and Sheffield with interview offers for late January. Fingers crossed for everyone getting (good) news.

Queenside That's the first Sheffield interview I've heard of! All DSs pals were rejected without interview.
