Highchairs and baby seats

If you didn't buy an Antilop high chair, why the hell not?!

Obviously this only applies to those who need a high chair!

Other than a Tripp Trapp, I can't see how any other high chair can beat the Antilop in any way. It's dirt cheap, easy to clean, easily stored, and comfy. You can get that little blow up thing to give them support when they are still little, and they last for ages.

Whenever we've been to cafes / restaurants / other homes that have a different style of highchair, my DS's have never looked comfortable.

So, tell me, if you discounted the Antilop, why????????????????

I just don't like plastic things in the house. We have nice dining table and chairs, why would I put some plastic monstrosity in there?

I've never heard of an Antilop!

Because I didn't really know about them on time. Had seen them in the ikea catalogue but couldn't imagine how anything so much cheaper than the alternatives would be better. Oh well...

We had one for DS and it was excellent. It counteracted the crazy money I spent on that god awful Jane carry cot/pushchair.

HOW many times did I trip over those bastard legs though Angry

I didn't buy one. I was given a second hand one. Do I get extra brownie points?

How on earth is a wooden highchair harder to clean than a plastic one? They are both wipe clean.

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 31/08/2012 22:48

MrsRhett, it is harder, stuff clings to the wood. It just wipes clean from the plastic.
Not a major imposition for one child but with two its tedious trying to scrub weetabix out of those grooves.

Because we were given one! Will use it for DD too soon, but I gave the blowup support thingy away, can you buy them separately?

I would have done if I'd known about them before buying our big Silver Cross one, but I think they're probably not as comfy....

Sorry, 5madthings did you just say your 13yo was still in a high chair??!

We are done with ours. Anybody want a white Antilop and tray? Edinburgh.

LOVED that it could be shoved in the dishwasher!

Report
princelypurpleparrot · 31/08/2012 22:52

The Antilop doesn't have any seems or gaps on the seat so there is nowhere for gunk to get into, which makes it the ultimate in wipe-cleanable loveliness. You can also stick them in the dishwasher if you really want to.

I love my Antilop.

Along with being a BLWer, it makes me feel lonely amidst my puree loving, pricey high chair buying NCT friends though Sad

A tripp trapp is only a high chair for as long as you want it to be. Have you looked them up, Mini?

Oh right, I see. Ha, ha. Had an image of a strapping teenager getting strapped into a 5 point harness for his lunch there...

Because it was a two hour drive to Ikea so i got an all singing all dancing puffy seat monstrosity

Report
Alligatorpie · 31/08/2012 22:59

I am thinking about buying one, but I live overseas and we dont have ikea here (yet). How heavy are they and do they pack up small enough to fit in a suitcase? Cheers!

They are unwieldy! That's the downside.

Report
larks35 · 31/08/2012 23:02

So do any of you Antilop owners have a blow-up support thingy to sell? Smile

Report
fridakahlo · 31/08/2012 23:03

Because I bought a wooden thing that has lasted through both children and can still fit my daughter at the age of six. I've given up on getting out the gunk in the hard to reach places but you cannot tell unless you look really closely.
It's a great chair and I'd do it again, I tell ya!

Report
NarkedRaspberry · 31/08/2012 23:04

I was given a hand me down wooden one. Yay [underwhelmed]. It's huge, unfolding and mingy.

I really don't like the tripp trapp. Yes, it's a chair for life, but it's an ugly chair for life.

Larks, unfortunately DS actually bit his blow up thingy and burst it.

I only had one, sorry.

We have one - in the caravan. The harness is crap. Other than that it's fine.

In the house we have the Little Helper Fun Pod High Chair - does more, and as I cook a lot it will be in use for years in it's second form as safety stool, and the seat part becomes a chair. Happy days.

They have the white back in in Germany!

Yeah I ordered a trip trap when dd was little. I absolutely hated it, ugly and not worth the money (imo) So I packed it up quickly and sent it back.
