First thread was started by Trisagion on Wed 30-Oct-13 15:18:17

"
This is to ask for the help of all Mumsnet members, most especially anyone who lives in the Haute Savoie departement.

One of our members, Carol Sheridan, is missing. She is a keen and intrepid hiker and explores the high mountains of the area. She is experienced and resourceful but neither her family nor many friends have had any communication with her since Saturday 27 October.

She may be lost or perhaps had an accident and be awaiting rescue.

She is 73, five foot five tall and drives a black Fiat Panda registration AZ522AP

If you have any information on Carol's whereabouts or the location of her car please contact French Police and her daughter Fiona Conyers [note from MNHQ, we've now removed the email address to respect the family's wish for privacy]

HQ are hoping to post the MISSING poster circulated by her family on here."

RIP Catol.
Condolences to her family. Sad

FestiveEdition · 06/11/2013 12:03

Her grandson has asked that messages of condolence are restricted to the FB p[age. Those at Gransnet who know the family are saying that there will be good reason for saying this (perhaps they will be able to keep the page online as a tribute)

You may wish to visit the page and leave messages of support there

lborolass · 06/11/2013 12:05

I haven't posted before as I couldn't add anything to the search but have been thinking about Carol and am very sorry to hear the news. Condolences to all her family and friends.

SundaySimmons · 06/11/2013 12:07

RIP Carol.

An amazing and much loved lady who truly lived her life.

For someone to be thought of so highly by so many people is reflective of Carol's personality.

It wasn't the outcome anyone wanted but Carol has passed away doing something she enjoyed very much and in a place she obviously loved being in.

Xxxxx

Thumbwitch · 06/11/2013 12:13

So sad :(
I hope that whatever the reason, it was quick and painless and yes, she died doing something she loved.

RIP Carol Sheridan and condolences to your family for their loss of you.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 06/11/2013 12:19

very sad news.

I don't think they are saying you can't write that you are sad she died anywhere but on FB Hmm Just not to try and contact them directly surely?!

giraffesCantGoGuising · 06/11/2013 12:21

He said "We still welcome your messages of support and condolence, but ask that, for now, you restrict them to posting on the wall in this group. " - he means we welcome your messages but only send these messages for us through this page.

toffeesponge · 06/11/2013 12:24

Oh no Sad.

I saw the last few threads in my my TIO and hoped against hope I had misunderstood.

I didn't know Carol but still feel so desperately sad for her and all who did.

Those who have led these threads and contributed, etc etc are all amazing. Flowers.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 06/11/2013 12:24

Yup agree skully - so no one on here and especially anyone on GN where she had some close friends should feel unable to share/process their grief on the forum. Am worried the messages of "only post on FB" are making some feel they are not allowed to post - especially on GN.

bigwellylittlewelly · 06/11/2013 12:24

Such sad news, thinking of her family and friends at this very difficult time.

magimedi · 06/11/2013 12:27

I am very sad - I 'knew' Carol through forums & had the great pleasure of meeting her once.

She was an amazing woman -an inspiration to us all that getting older doesn't have to mean giving up on life.

She dies doing what she loved best.

She would have been hugely touched by all the support that has been going on for the last week or so.

RIP Carol. Flowers

ohfourfoxache · 06/11/2013 12:29

Sad what a tragic outcome Sad

RIP Carol - you, your family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers

Thumbwitch · 06/11/2013 12:31

Should the listing in the DotD be changed now, do you think? Should we ask MNHQ to change it?

Curioustiger · 06/11/2013 12:32

Yes RIP Carol.

I would like to say to her family and friends that she must have been a very remarkable woman. I am so sorry for your loss. Flowers
