Bad attitude of some of you here

There's a lot of bad attitude on here. Culture of underachievement and all that. It's sad and a bit shocking really when these children are the ones who really need the help and the resources and aren't getting it. My daughter is four and I'm not abashed to say the word 'genuis'. In front of her or not. It isn't a bad word, it's what she is and I love her for it.

How do I know? Oh please, this is the child who was playing - meaningully - with abacus at 3 months. Now four she has read Secret Seven and is working on newspapers. She has her own email.

So shoot me. My daughter is gifted, there, I said it. Why the bad attitude?

MrsBadger naughty, now go to time out step!

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:43

Perhaps you could have achieved even more if your parents had limited your visual diet?

Hmm
colditz · 21/02/2007 12:46

Perhaps they'd have been like those hopelessly anxious kids - there's one in every class - who sob their heart out and refuse to go home if they get a B.

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:48

I wouldn't know colditz, my results were always A+ which is why I am confident my baby, whom we plan to call Amadeus, will be exceptional and I aim to do everything in my power to ensure his talents will not be wasted.

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:49

imho giving your young child the label of genius and "hothousing" is merely a way to rectify or at least mask your own inadequacies. behind every pushy parent is screaming insecurity.

has to be TMMJ. the last post was a giveaway

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:51

There are alternatives to Teletubbies you know. Why could you not use the toilet if the child is secure and listening to Mozart? I don't really see what could be so hard about child rearing, if you have intelligence then you can overcome most problems.

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 12:52

lotrl, great name btw

Oh and Amadeaus isn't bad either

Oh c'mon now I keep lurking back to find out lotrl's true ID and it's still not out yet...

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:53

i always left ds with war & peace, he'd eaten it in 2 days!

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 12:53

When you say secure llort, are we taking full body restaint or just wrist and ankle straps?

MrsBadger · 21/02/2007 12:53

rofl 'what's so hard about childrearing?'

I would pay good money to see this woman in a year's time, exhausted, covered in sick and knowing just what is so hard about it.

stick around, lotrl, and we'll se how it pans out...

PeachyClair · 21/02/2007 12:53

Amadeus is fab and conclusive proof

Not that it matters anyway if he's bright or not- he won't live long enough with a name like thatb for his adulthood to be an issue

PMSL

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:55

pmsl peachy

Piffle · 21/02/2007 12:56

My ds is a future PM and he watched the teletubbies, infact he even had his own plastic Po.
And he has been officially diagnosed.
but do you know what he is 13, his poo smells, so do his feet and armpits and he is a lazy oik.
so genius or not he is not able to be separated fromt the general flow of 13 yr old boys.

And quite frankly I'd rather he'd make his own bed and put the washing out than score 100% on mock maths A level papers
but that's just me...

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:56

He will be going to a private school so I doubt his name will be an issue.

Goodness me, I fail to see how such a small thing as a baby could really make things so hard for you all! What did you do before you had babies? Is it not true that the main viewers of daytime television are mothers. I plan to stimulate my baby, not waste my time watching daytime television and eating chocolate.

Piffle · 21/02/2007 12:58

incorrect the main daytime viewers are under 3's
the mums are on the internet, so walk away now, you'll have no time for this carry on when you're raising a future atom splitter

AitchTwoOh · 21/02/2007 12:59

before i had dd i sat around all day watching daytime tv and eating chocolate.

TeeCee · 21/02/2007 13:00

That's the most ridiculous thing you've said so far rtltl, how can eating choclate ever be described as a waste of time? Now I know you're a troll, that was just a plain stupid thing to say, ha haaaa see trip trapped yourself up there with that comment.

DaveOHara · 21/02/2007 13:00

please, I have work to do... out with it.
