Bad attitude of some of you here

There's a lot of bad attitude on here. Culture of underachievement and all that. It's sad and a bit shocking really when these children are the ones who really need the help and the resources and aren't getting it. My daughter is four and I'm not abashed to say the word 'genuis'. In front of her or not. It isn't a bad word, it's what she is and I love her for it.

How do I know? Oh please, this is the child who was playing - meaningully - with abacus at 3 months. Now four she has read Secret Seven and is working on newspapers. She has her own email.

So shoot me. My daughter is gifted, there, I said it. Why the bad attitude?

I cannot believe that none of you would give your utmost to ensure that your children grow up to be able to give to society rather than taking.

I do believe this thread is bullying this poster. I thought MN was all about mums pulling together.

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:28

thank you tenalady.

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:28

lotrl, of course we all want the v best for our children, i was hailed as a genius at school, got excellent marks in gcse's and a-levels got a place at oxford and decided that i was fed up of performing for all the people who hailed me as "gifted". that title came with an eating disorder and a massive inferiority complex. i hope ds ISNT gifted tbh i just want him to be happy and healthy

TenaLady · 21/02/2007 12:31

lissielou, thats my point, the parents should 'button it' with my child is a genius, most folk can see that for themselves. It cheeses the audience off and the child has too much pressure to live up to.

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:33

I want my child to make a valuable contribution to society and not just be a sponger or a waster. I think the world is going downhill and we need to start breeding intelligence.

TenaLady · 21/02/2007 12:33

All said and done, she is obviously deliriously proud of her childs great achievements and as mothers we should respect and understand her elation at the milestones that have been achieve.

Why wouldnt you be glad for a CHILD to of done so well?

It's a JOKE thread. A JOKE. Started by Greensleeves, who has said so herself halfway up thread. It's a JOKE thread.

wotzsaname · 21/02/2007 12:35

thats why ive stopped having any moe kids

TenaLady · 21/02/2007 12:36

Right that's it, ive said it before and I'll say it now, I will turn her sleeves to red when I get hold of her.

To think I was sticking up for her too!!

WriggleJiggle · 21/02/2007 12:36

My child will make a valuable contribution to society and not just be a sponger or a waster, but I think she'll achieve that without being a genius.

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:37

in my case i went q badly off the rails and didnt go to uni. ended up as a waitress. i am now looking into maybe going to uni but the point is i will be going for me. not my parents, not my teachers, not dh or even ds. i was so lonely at school because of this label that i became v ill, how can you say that pushing your children is the best for them when they dont even know what they want.

TenaLady · 21/02/2007 12:37

Sadly, I dont have the LUXURY of the time to read all of the threads at times. Ho hum!

WriggleJiggle · 21/02/2007 12:39

Damm, missed it. Got the lotrl = troll bit, but was hanging around waiting to see who it was.

Mental note - must read threads more closely

wotzsaname · 21/02/2007 12:39

lissielou the threads a wind up. sorry hun.

lotrl · 21/02/2007 12:39

I shall leave now as this thread has been denounced as a joke.

Hope you have a better attitude to scientists of today who are working to save your planet, or surgeons who might one day save your life. I wonder if they were stuck in front of teletubbies when they were little?

lissielou · 21/02/2007 12:40

i know but lotrl wouldnt stop so i assumed that she was real

JillyBeansNW · 21/02/2007 12:40

Tenalady - I don't have time to read all of the long threads either - I get my 6 mth old to do it and type me up an edited version.

colditz · 21/02/2007 12:41

[raises hand]

I am a scientist working to save people's lives.
I had a wide and varied diet of cartoons when I was small.
So did every single one of my (esteemed and renowned) colleagues.

So Ner.
