Yank, do you know, I bloody love you?!
YOu have so much going on and then you do this amazing round up and make sure everyone is mentioned.

You are fab, Lady

I hope Crispy is OK today.

YanknCock · 18/05/2010 21:24

jet, yes sorry was going to message you, let's not cancel just yet, can I let you know? Might do me good to get out of town for a morning/afternoon.

DI, well done, do hope you can give up the smokes. It is the single best thing you can do for yourself and your kids as far as health goes!

Lizzy, meeting was weird. I am being farmed out to Wigan for next six months on this project and basically big boss was grilling me about whether I was ready to commit to it, was I ready, blah blah blah. And said if I had 'any doubts at all' I should tell them now. What am I going to say? Actually I have lots of doubts, I hate this job and feel like it was the biggest mistake of my career to take it..... but can't say that. At least getting farmed out there is some actual work to do. I did say 'but there isn't any other work to do' and was told 'oh we'd find you something'. And she said 'I need to hear you say that you are ready 100%'....really a lot of pressure for what end I don't know. I guess this was my 'you've been back a month from maternity leave' meeting as well as working out what type of leave to take for all these absences. Wish someone would have told me beforehand.

YanknCock · 18/05/2010 21:26

thanks Lizzy....really i find the act of taking notes while reading helps me digest and remember stuff, so it's as much for me as anyone else!

Yes, where is Crispy....hope she ok

Lizzylou · 18/05/2010 21:27

Sheesh, Yank, they want a moon on a stick, don't they?

YanknCock · 18/05/2010 21:28

and somehow I missed off our fearless leader!

jetcat · 18/05/2010 21:31

no worries Yank, the train ticket is one that can be just bought on the day at no extra cost, so dont worry if you need to cancel at short notice. Just dont want you to feel obliged - and yes, some shopping may do you good

And i second Lizzy - how wonderful you are doing your wonderful round ups i can never remember everything

YanknCock · 18/05/2010 21:31

Big boss is actually 'acting Biggest Boss' at the moment and her managerial style is to be hard as nails harsh all the time. Tis quite boring. She has a 2 year old and has NEVER taken carer's leave.....always takes annual leave if her DH can't be home. Well bully for her.

jetcat · 18/05/2010 21:33

sounds like a lot of pressue from work Yank Is wigan closer to you?

Yes, going to Wigan actually shaves about 5 miles off my daily commute. I am looking forward to having some actual work to do and being in a different environment--finding that office a bit oppressive to say the least. After the first meeting we had the team meeting which went on forever and was a mass of cliches, sports metaphors and acronyms.

I swear I was ready to fling myself out the window if one more person said 'take it and run with it' or 'step up to the plate'.

My ear hurts. Poop.

Oh yeah, people who know about the salt in the sock thing....is there somethign about heating salt in the microwave that makes the microwave temporarily not work? It's gone on the fritz twice after I've microwaved salt (but eventually started working again). Weird.

YanknCock · 18/05/2010 21:48

I am going up to dye my hair now. This time I will be 'Dark Caramel Brown' aka Loreal 435.

jetcat · 18/05/2010 21:48

been on the wine there Bella

Lizzylou · 18/05/2010 21:55

Oh MItts, it sounds like your poor DD has them worse. Though DS2 has them in his ears, on his eyelids and all round his waistband (has worn PJs for days now)in his hair, he has scratched some and has a few I am a bit worried about, but most are scabbing nicely.
He has about 4x more than DS1 had when he was 22mths.
Mostly, he is just bored to be honest.
He also said I had chicken pox, I had to explain they were just spots that 37 yr old frazzled hormonal women got

Hope she's OK soon.

bellavita · 18/05/2010 22:00

The only drink I have had is a low cal hot choc drink !!

jetcat · 18/05/2010 22:04

sorry Bella - no slur intended

bellavita · 18/05/2010 22:06

jet - no offence taken!!

jetcat · 18/05/2010 22:10

thanks

i should really go to bed, have caught the sun again, despite my factor 50 and am a little sore.

bellavita · 18/05/2010 22:15

jet - try and drink plenty of water if you can. Sunburn can dehyrdrate if you are not careful. Have you got any aftersun?

TotalChaos · 18/05/2010 22:18

Mitts - how rotten for DD and you that she has had such a rough do with the dreaded pox. In terms of denitting, would she tolerate being hedrinned but not combed? obv. combing makes it more effective but was advised by pharmacist that it should do the job even without the combing (DS v uncooperative....)

jet - the right glasses are worth £60, you will be wearing them every day for a year or two. but you might as well have a wee shop around just in case you find nicer ones.

yank - hope that Wigan office is happier for you, and you escape twatty manager. re:ears - I have syringed my ear myself - found a kit in Boots with Otex drops plus mini-syringe for just under £9. not sure if it's contraindicated with ear infections though.....

DI and Goober - enjoy your respective trips

Hello, back where I belong (in front of laptop) and enjoying reading 1500 pages of messages. Had nice time at my mum's but horrible journey back - plane cancelled (quelle surprise) and had to do long ferry/car journey with hyper toddler.
Have missed my shiney chums
