Morning lovely ladies

Bitter/SAF - glad you had a good meet up

Dinner was ok yesterday. It was quite busy in there so everything a bit slow and didn't leave til 8pm (had DD with us falling asleep) Would totally recomend the children's menu in Prezzo though £4.95 (ish could have been .75) and DD had an adult portion of garlic mozzarella bread, then a small adult size pizza (i helped) and some ice cream and some squash. You could easily have fed 3 2yr olds on the pizza (and DD likes pizza!)

Anyway, DH has gone off to Paris, my 'friend' has let me down yet again, so no curry this evening and i should go for a repeat blood test today but cba.

On the plus side though, my friend is in town for the racing, so going to see her for coffee (only see her about once/twice a year)

TrillianAstra · 14/05/2010 09:30

Go get your blood tested Alice, I know it's boring/annoying but you need to check.

Dinner sounds nice - our Prezzo is gone now.

bellavita · 14/05/2010 09:32

Does your friend let you down an awful lot Alice?

I second what Trills says about the blood test.

Mmm Prezzo sounds lovely.

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 09:33

I'm going to watch jk and feed baby and then brooches here we come, I may even have photos of some by this evening, that should give me incentive to get on with it.

See you in a bit x

Alicetheinvisible · 14/05/2010 09:44

Defluff - definitely put pics up!

The blood test is because i came into contact with 'slapped cheek' disease a few weeks ago. I had the first blood test which came back absolutely fine, but they like you to get a second one 3wks after being in contact with it. They are really not bothered after 25wks pg, and i was just 25weeks when in contact, so it is just a waste of time and NHS money.

My 'friend' is a pain in the arse. She is a lovely girl. She is DD's Godmother and has been fab really, but recently has gone a bit off the rails. She has always been a bit flaky and would sometimes let me down, but by kind of not really saying yes or no to start with iyswim? But twice this week she has said a definite yes to something but then can't do it, or in the case of last sunday just didn't turn up. I seem to be her sensible friend that she turns to when she is too scared to phone her mum, but wants 'advice'

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 14/05/2010 09:46

Morning.

Dfluff, could I borrow the wire? Pretty please?

I'll swap you for Dexter as soon as saf has finished it?

Can't wait to see the brooches btw

Prezzo sounds lovely alice. If your friend is letting you down a lot then maybe you should back off from the relationship for a while, IYKWIM?

DS has trashed my house. I came down at 5am to absolute carnage.

There isn't a single sugary thing left in the house and there are cocopops and yoghurts all over the carpet.

On a positive side, I'm off to Toccata's for a coffee later, so I have a vat of chicken soup on the go. That girl needs feeding up!

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 09:46

Morning all
Tired today, late night (for me) and some gin and I am like an old lady this morning.

Jet, don't get disheartened if you find the shred difficult, I've been doing lots of exercise and it really hurt me! Please remember to do all the stretches, and some extra as you will ache the next day! But it gives good results.

Alice, I don't think we have a Prezzo nearby, sounds lovely. Go to get your blood tests!

Fluffy, I would love to borrow The Wire after you've finished it please.

I have weighed this morning and not lost an ounce. Every day I've exercised since Sunday and been really strict foodwise. Am hoping that this means next weekI'll get a good loss.

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 09:52

X-post
Bitter, I'll borrow it after you if that is OK with Fluffy.

hellsbelles · 14/05/2010 10:03

morning all,

Had a lovely dinner out with DH (despite 9pm curfew!)...Nicky Clarke (hairdresser with big ginger flicky hair) was there and opened the door for me. Alas he is NOT one of my celeb crushes.

Bitter/fluff/lizzy (!) - I have the whole Wire so whoever is wireless can borrow it off me? Bitter...I'm still on series 7 so my cherry will remain intact for a little longer

shiney - as a fellow product junkie I'm loving the links [smile

Lovely lovely BOF for sending the flowers to yank - and yank so glad everything sounds like it's getting back on track.

jetcat · 14/05/2010 10:10

well done on the pound Bella

Alice, about your friend, and i hope the blood test turns out ok (am sure it will). My girls had slapped cheek just prior to going on holiday a couple of years ago, and they were initially banned from the swimming pool in case they were pregnant woman there - they were gutted - as was i was it meant i got no peace

Lizzy - i will heed your warning. I have read the shred thread, and noted a few areas i will have to watch (like my dodgy knees) but i am getting right into this exercise lark, and think now that i am jogging I also need to do some toning up.

Bitter/Saf (Baf) glad you had a nice meet up

You know my list i posted a while back about things i need to get done before June? Well, i have eye appointment next week, and am about to ring for a haircut for the weekafter. Would appreciate some opinions on that front I am ginger strawberry blonde and very fair skinned. Hair is very thick, wavy bordering on curly and hasnt been cut in years ages (I always wear it tied back at the moment) I am thinking of a colour, i have been brown in the past, but am wondering if that looks a bit odd with pale skin? So, i am now thinking of embracing the ginger strawberry blondeness and going a deeper red colour. Style wise, i havent a clue, other than i want it short - it is easier to manage.

bellavita · 14/05/2010 10:29

Deep red might be too deep jet? What about alternate red with some warm brown and honey tones?

One of my colleagues has just passed me two lovely M&S choc chip cookies . Have eaten one and will give the other to my jobshare colleage when she comes in.

Will have scrambled egg for lunch when I get home and then the last of the veg curry for tea.

jetcat · 14/05/2010 10:37

ooh, that sounds nice Bella - both the cookies and the hair

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 10:40

Jet how about going more of a honey/toffee colour? Warm but still light?
Sort of Jennifer Aniston shade?

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 10:41

A lovely shiny chin length bob would be nice.

To be honest I've always found if you go somewhere like Lisa Shepherd they will look at your hair and advise you what will suit, and if they say it, it will. They are bloody brilliant. You see they would probably tell you straight away no chin length bob because if its very thick and curly it might go like a triangle (mine would!) but they would know what would suit your hair. THey could cut layers etc to reduce the weight.

It would probably cost about £60 - £150 depending on who cuts it, if you have it coloured etc. But honestly it is really worth it to get the experience of the professionals.

Bitter - yes! no problems at all.

Scuttles back to BLOODY brooches

jetcat · 14/05/2010 10:46

£150 fluff I couldn't pay that!

I am now actually toying with the idea of colouring it myself, and then going in for the cut and highlights or something. Max i could pay would be about £70 i think, and that would be a push I couldnt justify to myself spending anymore than that.

thanks lizzy - i am clueless, as you can tell

hellsbelles · 14/05/2010 11:07

Jet - it actually sounds like it's a lovely colour already...a colour that people would pay good money to have (iyswim)...Fluff is right of course that they will advise you in a salon...but my instinct would be to work with the lovely colour your have (saves a bloody fortune in the long run).

Also - do you think this would suit little Jet? It doesn't suit my colouring at all so I've hardly worn it. I have it in size 12 if you think she would like it?

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 11:11

You could get done for about £50/60 if you just had cut and blow dry and chose a junior stylist, I just think if you're going for a big change its good if you can to go somewhere really good. It may just be expensive where I am, night be much cheaper by you.

Jet - don't stress the others prob know far more than me about it, I've only ever used T&G or LS. I often colour mine myself - £4.25 and only usually get cut and blow dry at hairdressers. I think I'm weird about my hair, I don't spend any money really on clothes but I do on hair as you 'wear it' everyday if you see what I mean. And it gives me a massive boost when i get it done

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 11:12

Hells - very good point re the colour, if you can work with what you have much better and cheaper

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 11:15

We have very good local salons here, Jet. A cut and blow dry is about £25-30.
Ask a friend who has nice hair where they go. I go to the same hairdresser as my friends because they have nice hair so I copied

Do I go to the gym/run or swim tonight? I am going out tomorrow night so no exercise this weekend. I have exercised every single day since Sunday.

So why am I still wobbly????

jetcat · 14/05/2010 11:16

Hells - the dress is lovely, and junior would love it with leggings, but i think a 12 may be too big for her - she is kind of midway between an 8 and a 10. Of course, she could grow into it

I really dont like my colour, it is neither blonde nor ginger. If it was one or the other, it would be ok i think, but i always think it looks like a mucky blonde. I am liking the honey/toffee idea, and also Bella's idea of different tones

DeFluffy · 14/05/2010 11:20

Sorry Jet I didn't mean to scare you re prices £150 would only be with top stylist at LS and a colour too

Definitely do what Lizzy suggests

jet, I pay £66 for a cut/blow and a full head of highlights (which includes a permanent tint down the parting to hide my grey hairs when the regrowth starts (makes it less noticeable) - different tones would be something like mine?

Lizzylou · 14/05/2010 11:23

There is a good thing about living oop north, even the really posh hairdressers only charge £35 for a cut and blow dry with the Director or whatever. He is ex-top Manchester salon as well.

I do my own colour. Feria are good, as are Nice and Easy.
