This is our mumblemumbleth thread. We want to eat more healthily and/or lose weight.

In theory.

Mostly we like to chat and admire teh thread mascot - he helps us not to over-eat.

If that doesn't do it for you, you can always go old-school - I know I'm too scared to go into the dark spooky kitchen now

Some days it feels like people on here are having conversations where I can't see all of it, like there are actually 3 more invisible posters.

trying not to laugh DeFluff..... but yes

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 21:23

Oh crap, now I've just read that back and it sounds really sarcastic!

It wasn't meant to be. Christ, I know I am cursed with asarcastic tone of voice, I didn't realise that it carried on to typing!

Gah! Rollergirl - I'm sorry, ignore me I'm a bitter and twisted old hag.

(Though to be fair, the clue's in the name )

Rollergirl1 · 23/04/2010 21:24

Bitter: No need for apologies. But can I sponge a fag? Heh. Sorry!!!

bellavita: what is the cake for and why is it a disaster?!

bellavita · 23/04/2010 21:24

The farkin 12" cake which is very very heavy has got a four way crack right across and with every movement cracks a little more...

bellavita · 23/04/2010 21:25

Roller, it is for my friends parents 50th wedding anniversary do next week.

I am not a professional cake maker and my friend knows this... but the cake is just so bloody heavy.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:26

Bella is this after it's been iced?

DeFluff · 23/04/2010 21:26

For true mn madness go look at the padded bra convo in chat, went from 0-bitchfight in about 3 seconds.

I would link to it but if I c&p the address in my webpage and chuck it here as a link won't it have my nickname and password at bottom so everyone could post as me?

Shiney, don't make me get all medieval on you. Just reassure me, it's not spelt funny is it? Promise me

TotalChaos · 23/04/2010 21:26

um get some red colouring and fill in the cracks and pretend it's a special st george's day cake /// (legs it)

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:27

Mitts your brother isn't lacking in confidence issues is he?

Machu Pichu would be amazing wouldn't it? Perhaps we could do a shiney meet up there.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 21:27

Bella - can you do a 'Johnny Briggs' and fill it in with toothpaste icing?

wastingaway · 23/04/2010 21:29

Oh I loved Johnny Briggs.

Rollergirl1 · 23/04/2010 21:29

Shiney: Which thread?

This place is a bit like a cocoon, or heaven. Protected from the real mumsnet. It almost lures you into a false sense of security. I ventured out to AIBU for the first time in months last week (when a bit pissed). It's just mental in there. So many utterly differing opinions on absolutely everything! You can guarantee that someone would be mortally offended about how you made you tea in that place!

I've learned my lesson, i won't go back.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 21:29

I would love to go to Machu Pichu.

This thread is moving too fast!

MitsubishiWarrioress · 23/04/2010 21:31

he says we should talk more!! i haven't farking said anything yet!!lolol

JuJusDad · 23/04/2010 21:32

Hello, all!

I've sort of skimmed the thread, but badly, as gin and tonic has been involved.

I've had a long week - various personal crap as a result of the ever-so-pleasant ex, plus put DD on a bit of a sleep boot camp to sleep in her own bed (or at least stay in her own room). These things have resulted in a stressed me and a very grumpy whingy / tired / howling child.

Hey ho, weekend now

On the quitting smoking thing - I'd recommend the Allan Carr books too - I've been back to being a non-smoker for at least eight years now. On the few occaisions when I've tried to smoke, I've been coughing and spluttering and unable to do it.

wastingaway · 23/04/2010 21:32

Mitts!

bellavita · 23/04/2010 21:32

Bitter, it is a fruit cake which is at the moment just marzipanned. It will have fondant on it on Sunday. So it cannot be held together with butter cream or anything.

hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:34

rollergirl you are so right. I did a very innocent post on another thread (I usually stay in the warm haven of Shiney - though that sounds a bit weird doesn't it ) or S&B....and it all went a bit .

Rollergirl1 · 23/04/2010 21:34

I've always wondered this, do you lot skim-read or something? I find this thread alone enough to be reading and replying to but you're all off reading stuff in chat and responding too? Do you have super sharp reading and typo skills??

How do you do it??!!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/04/2010 21:35

JuJusDad, we had a big problem with DD not sleeping and ending up in our bed, went to a sleep clinic in the end, their moethod helped big time. Do you want me to pass on their words of wisdom?

TrillianAstra · 23/04/2010 21:37

Links don't work that way DeFluff.

See?

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 23/04/2010 21:37

jujus - it will get better. DD is just protesting as she should...and eventually she'll learn who has the stronger will (it will be you won't it????)

Bella - it will be pointless for me to give advice here as you well know I'm a beginner cook! Maybe fondant is the key? Who has chef like skills here (apart from you)...is it Fanny? She'll know.

DeFluff · 23/04/2010 21:38

Mitts - will you stop your updates!!!! Every two minutes I am laughing and DP keeps asking me why! Your brother just keeps on giving doesn't he?!

Roller - learnt that lesson myself recently. Tis good to lurk, not so good to post, unless you are mentally very strong and able to take a lot of flak. I don't know what I did to upset anyone, all I sad was that they were all 'thick as pig shit'

off to bed. can't cope with dp moaning about his ps3 anymore. gah

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 23/04/2010 21:40

Oh Oh Bella! could you maybe after icing it veeery carefully, tie a big ribbon around it to hold it together?
