DEM go and stay at Five's place, it sounds heavenly.

Go on go on go on go on go on go on go on GO ON etc etc

Fleecy · 05/04/2010 23:14

Oh - how rubbish that Lactofree isn't actually free of lactose Thanks for the heads up - I wouldn't have checked as would naturally have assumed there wasn't any in it! Will have to allow a bit of time for a nose around the milk subsitutes - what do you knowledgable ladies recommend?

jet your daughter sounds like a girl after my own heart with a massive wardrobe already

DEM sorry to hear you've had to make a tough decision but hope you have some peace of mind now you've made your mind up

yank at the extra cost on your behalf but hope all works out well and you are a happily vomit-free household very, very soon

wasting I lusted after Brora wristwarmers in the sale and wish I'd bought some now. Can I ask how much it cost to knit a DIY pair with some nice wool? I can knit a bit but never thought to make my own

ClaudiaSchiffer · 05/04/2010 23:16

More thunder here.

And torrential rain crashing down on the tin roof.

Also kids gone all silly.

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 23:21

Watch gravy granules as they can contain milk derivatives. And whilst am only lactose intollerant i find that if that is bad any milk products can be irratating. Most bread is ok as long as it is not fresh (supermarket baked) as they put milk in it.

Vitalite is milk free, we use soya milk but also oat and rice milk. it depends on the purpose. ds can't stand oat or rice milk on cereal and will only use one particular brand but we use both the others in cooking as mum is soya allergic. Rice milk make lovely rice pudding especially if you put a bit of cinamon in it. Oat milk makes better pancakes.

Watch out for hidden milk stuff though. lactose is a key component in a lot of flavouring. So simple things like crisps can contain milk.

I have no idea where i put my list other wise would send it

YanknCock · 05/04/2010 23:21

Claudia, we are still at home (UK), were supposed to be in Wisconsin with my family by now

wasting, he isn't feeding as much as normal. Today was a combo of dioralyte and breastmilk. I was so excited when he actually starting weeing again that I made MrCock come and look at the nappy

Yesterday I pumped quite a bit, but tonight only managed about 1.5 oz which is worrying. But if he feeds well tomorrow I should be able to build it back up, right?

DEM, hope you are ok. No shame in taking ADs, some of the best people do

DreamsInBinary · 05/04/2010 23:26

Yes, Yank - your supply will def get back up to speed. The illness and stress will not have helped, but will all be well soon.

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 23:29

Claudia - could you send that thunder storm over here?

Ds' night terrors are back and i have just made the mistake of changing his nappy. it could be a long night.

wastingaway · 05/04/2010 23:30

Yank, just keep feeding and you'll get back up to regular production levels.
I was worried you may have encountered a silly health professional who told you not to feed as much when ill, scary how often that happens from reading the breast and bottle feeding board.

Fleecy, the wool was less than £5.

TotalChaos · 05/04/2010 23:30

Fleecy - for cups of tea Coffee Compliment may do, it's a non dairy whitener. You may also want to check out the kosher food section in supermarkets - some kosher food is "parev" - i.e. completely dairy and meat free.

Dem - hope it's a weight off your mind now you have made the decision. btw quite a few of my friends started off PGCE/teaching - and only one of them has been able to manage it as a long-term career (and she does supply!). It's a surprisingly demanding job, jobs at good schools tend to be in short supply.

Yank - glad DS sounds to be on the mend. I wouldn't worry too much about the pumping, getting him on directly and often will be far better for supply.

wastingaway · 05/04/2010 23:31

Vegan society used to produce a small book of animal-free products, that might be handy when avoiding dairy.

DreamsInBinary · 05/04/2010 23:34

Yank - lots of liquids and fennel tea should get you full-to-bursting in no time

DreamsInBinary · 05/04/2010 23:35

Bloody hell - Iggi is getting married tomorrow

How exciting!

TotalChaos · 05/04/2010 23:36

PS Dem - not sure whether this will be any help or not - but after I had DS I threw in the towel on a supposingly promising career - for the sake of my mental health I knew I was better out of it. Because of my DS's developmental issues, I didn't return to work till he started school last year - I am now doing a job that is, yes, less lucrative and certainly less high status, but I am much happier doing it , and I feel it is just more, well, moral somehow.

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 23:46

wonder if she is being all traditional re the night before?

DreamsInBinary · 05/04/2010 23:48

I think so. Didn't she say something about non-married nookie last night?

Can't wait to see pics...

DreamsInBinary · 05/04/2010 23:49

Aghh!

Pics of the wedding, of course.

DidEinsteinsMum · 05/04/2010 23:50

of course DIB.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 06/04/2010 01:19

Storm seems to have abated. Phew, it got pretty wild there. It's now all foggy and wet - lovely, reminds me of home (Brighton).

yank, how depressing. I do hope you get off ok on Wednesday.

Got people coming round soon for hot X buns and a play. Just been to shops for goodies. Now for a speed tidy up before 4 kids wreck it all.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 06/04/2010 01:21

Oh and to get all healthy for a moment. I am determined to lay off the choccies today and get back to being all healthy again. Since the w/end gorge fest, my skin looks awful and I feel depressed and grumpy. I'm positive it's related to having eaten and drunk loads of yummy things crap.

BitOfFun · 06/04/2010 01:26

Hi Claudia- I feel excited when I see you post because it naughtily means I'm up when I shouldn't be

ClaudiaSchiffer · 06/04/2010 04:34

Aaarrghhhhhh my resolve is weakening - WANT CHOCOLATE

NormaSknockers · 06/04/2010 07:30

Morning all,

Claudia you're not alone...only I caved in & ate a load

We have lovely sunshine here today, hope it lasts! Sorry I'm not on very much, my sister has been staying so I'm getting early lessons in living with teenagers

ClaudiaSchiffer · 06/04/2010 07:45

Crumbs Norma, is she, um, difficult

I am a lovely adult (honest), but my goodness I was a shocking teenager. I am already dreading my dds reaching vile teens. I found that 14 was my worst age. But then 15 and 16 were also pretty bad.

I still feel sorry for my parents.

Lizzylou · 06/04/2010 08:10

Morning all

Have tried to catch up, poor Yank and Baby Yank, so glad that you can still go, though.

Jet, I would put your foot down about the Wii, that is inexcusable behaviour.

DEM, are you OK? Do you feel better having made the decision?

Will have to be very good this week, have been eating and drinking with abandon this weekend, gym tonight.

NormaSknockers · 06/04/2010 08:15

She's not difficult as such, just hard work. She's your typical teenager really, leaves all the lights on around the house, doesn't pick up/clear up after herself, sleeps in til lunchtime, eats dinner then just walks away from the table, the spare room is a tip, she has her mobile phone superglued to her at all times & if I ask her a question she grunts in response! Still, she's going home this afternoon

Lizzy did you have a lovely birthday?
