ok, so i changed my coat and not technically here. You may or may not recognise my posting style. I can not. I have goofed and done the hoping about on arse trick enough on here for someone to know me despite the new name. Although it is irrelevant.

Here goes.

  1. irrational and impulsive
  2. exhausted but unable to sleep
  3. a to do list a mile long
  4. bp 107/69, poss low iron
  5. very cut scars
  6. very very odd periods
  7. NOT pregnant
  8. stress
  9. Over bright and positive on outside
10. loss of appitite 11. loss of hair/higher then normal hair wear and tear. 12. loss of some weight, not significant and had been trying. 13. hypersensitivity of bitter taste of foods 14. DEFINTELY NOT pregnant 15. bruising easily. 16. inability to concentrate and focus.

probably other bits and bobs and as coherent as i can made it being knackered.

I have seen a doctor and i am awaiting blood test results so i can go back and discuss further. SO what do you think? what dr mn do you suspect this odditiy lot is?

OP posts:
cyb · 11/03/2010 21:23

Hmm I would say a deficiency in a B vitamin of some sort

that will be £125 , please

cyb · 11/03/2010 21:24

Or mild depresion

DoctorAficionadoDelArse · 11/03/2010 21:25

over active thyroid.

Portofino · 11/03/2010 21:25

How old are you? Menopause?

cyb · 11/03/2010 21:25

Oh blimey I've been trounced by a proper doctor

CMOTdibbler · 11/03/2010 21:25

did they include thyroid levels on your blood tests ? That would be my top suspect

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 21:27

You are mildly depressed, combined with the possible on set of the menopause. but I do not have your age or sex, so can not be certain about that.

I prescribe a multiviimin, plus extra Vit C and B^ complex, and a holiday somwhere warm.

DoctorAficionadoDelArse · 11/03/2010 21:31

Please don't mistake me for a propper doctor. In a former incarnation I was the amateurarsedoctor .

I do however have personal experience of overactive thyroid and most of your symptoms are very familliar.

Out of interest, what is your pulse rate?

limitedname · 11/03/2010 21:39

Taking a multivit when remember combined with extra calcium when remember.
30yr female
Yep testing random sugar, thyroid and gynae
Doc didnt note pulse rate, but when ametuer did it to demo some equipment he had to readjust is serveral times and said it seemed to have a fault as it was reading very slow. Used to train 20hrs/wk but not done anything really in last 5 years.
Pulse is difficult to take due to tendancy to low bp.72bp/min at rough guess.

OP posts:
limitedname · 11/03/2010 21:52

erm should just say that bp might not be representative of normal have had a stressful day today. As result drunk a large amount of cafine. dont normally drink much. Heart feels like it is racing to me at mo, so def too much diet coke today. symptoms been about 2 months now.

OP posts:
DoctorAficionadoDelArse · 11/03/2010 22:15

That BP sounds ok. If your pulse is normally quite low then 72bpm which is normal for most folk may be fast for you. Do you feel like you're having palpitations? My heart used to feel like it was going to leap out of my chest sometimes, just for about 5-10 seconds before it returned to normal. My resting heart rate was around 100bpm though by that point and had previously been around 60-65bpm.

I suffered from thyrotoxicosis and lost loads of weight, despite having a large appetite, but OP states she has a loss of appetite. Stress and exhaustion sound familiar though as does racing heart, so I suppose it could be???

limitedname · 11/03/2010 22:32

And there is the issue of gynae and weird periods so that is another option being investigated. which would fit with weird hormones, low bp, low iron.
Have v low dose of an antidepressant for treating migraines recently but they are random stand alone/ few concurrant doses. Am looking forward to blood results, not looking forward to being referred to gynae specialist to rule that out. bored of it already. What about early M? Something that was mentioned as a possibility post emergency surgery decades ago. Or does it not fit? dont say hot flushes needed, i am walking around in v-tops already but this is totally normal for me!

does your name begin with 'E'?

Anaemia will make you feel crap all on its own, without any help from other illnesses, btw.

limitedname · 11/03/2010 22:46

erm not sure who you are thinking. one of the initials does but not the first letter of the name.

Yep, which is what i thought it was liekly to be but aparently all the other little bits suggest is ight be something else or eles with. result wed so hopefully some answers then. Have added to come back a post them. I think doc is thinking anemia is a result of something else not the main cause. which does make sense considering the 3days on, 1 week off, 2 weeks on, 4 days off random pattern that is happening at mo.

Must go sleep am tired now, although not surprising as only managed 2hours sleep last night. thank you for indulging me.

OP posts:
Valpollicella · 11/03/2010 22:52

How are you sleeping?

Vit b12 deficiencies can cause a lot of the above symptoms, so would advise taking that. Although stress can produce a whole load of symptoms that can't be sorted without the stress being sorted Sorry you#re having a shit time.

Hows your diet? Good, middling or meh (like mine). Could be a good, easy starting point.

DoctorAficionadoDelArse · 11/03/2010 22:54

that's for you shineoncrazydiamond

Good luck with your test results limitedname. Sleep tight.

You'd be terribly unimpressed if you knew. Best we keep it a secret.

PandaEis · 12/03/2010 15:46

i was going to suggest pernicious anaemia (B12 def.) or over-active thyroid. when you say you have been prescribed ADs for migraines, do you have to take these on a semi-regular basis? if so some of they symptoms can be down to a withdrawal-type effect of the ADs on your system. even at a low dose it can cause side effects and it is worth discussing this with your GP when you get your blood test results

good luck
