Hello all, will catch up later, just posting to say I'm going to do some exercise now because it will shame me into actually doing it, and not lying on couch eating yogurty raisins!
(My mum: in same package sent me blueberry covered yogurty raisins and 2 jars of some kind of cactus based weight loss pill. Hmm.)

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 14:20

60 miles is still loads, how long do you have to do it? (Link won't work at work, but thankfully they have forgotten to block MN)

iggi999 · 27/02/2010 14:20

Hi Reality, just while I see you there wanted to say you were not in the least tactless the other day, we are just all in different places regarding what we want!
Jealous you have longer to get fit for your wedding than I have..'bout 5 weeks now. Not much I can do in that time!

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 14:21

What are you doing, Iggi, exercisewise?
Yoghurty raisins aren't as bad as most snacks, wouldn't feel too guilty.

iggi999 · 27/02/2010 14:23

Ta Lizzy

iggi999 · 27/02/2010 14:25

Sorry you're at work Lizzy, I keep forgetting Saturday not a day off for everyone!

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 14:28

Iggi, I would heartily recommend going on some power plate/vibrating machine sessions.
I did the arm exercise one yesterday and can honestly feel the difference already.
There are power plates here at local gyms and a boutique on the high street has some in a room above it!
I think as a quick fix (with some other diet and exercise) it will really tone you up.

Otherwise, press ups and tricep dips are very good for your arms (mine are not good and never have been to be honest).

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 14:32

I was also speaking to a Mom at DS2's preschool yesterday and she said she'd bought one, brand new, off Ebay for £40. They can be bulky (and noisy she said) but that is a fab price and woould work out very cheap.

I know I am a bit obsessed with these fat wobblers, but 10mins is equivalent to 1 hour jogging. If I do 1 hour in the gym or spinning then 10mins on the fat wobbler, I have doubled my exercise.

And it is funny!

bellavita · 27/02/2010 14:48

I am Bella and have 8ish or so pounds to lose. Am doing ww online, but AF arrived this morning, so I have lost about 4lbs since doing it, but it was weigh in this morning and I had not budged.

Blimey you lot, I am missing for one morning and the new thread is two pages long..

Right, cannot remember for the life of me what you all said, but squeezes 'n' kisses for those that need it!

Woop woops for those that have done really well on losing more weight.

Trills, dinner tonight sounds just divine and isn't it strange at first trying to mn from the i-phone?

Yes Shiney, Good Food Magazine (I have a subscription and have done for the last ummmm don't know how many years). I have that many magazines, they are taking over a corner of the bedroom. I still flick through them and find new recipes to do. Talking about Jimmy Choos though, JM actually perused their website two evenings ago! He actually didn't realise they were as expensive as they are although he didn't gasp at the cost of them just more of a "mmmm, a little expensive and slightly more than I thought" but sale prices are more the money he is talking about..... but the ones that I saw in the sale, they did not have my size.

Bless him though, he is the man. He knows I was worried about doing this blasted 12" cake today - tis all the mixing (my hands are so sore) and tbh, I don't have a bowl big enough and I have to prat about. He offered to go out this morning and buy me a Kitchen Aid.... they cost around £300, I admired one in Lakeland last time we were in there. I said to him it was a lovely idea and a lovely thought but I won't be making 12" cakes again for a very long time so I don't think I would get his moneys worth out of it. Anyway, cake is in the oven. Went in at 12.35 and should come out at 5.35. It is lined three times with greaseproof paper and has newspaper around the outside tied with string.

I had a lovely trout fillet with steamed veg for lunch - I really enjoyed it. Lasagne for tea.

Georgimama · 27/02/2010 14:51

Bella - if a man wants to buy you Jimmy choos and a KitchenAid, you let him.

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 14:51

I really am in love with your DH, Bella. He sounds so lovely (and generous!).

Well done on getting the cake in the oven.

bellavita · 27/02/2010 15:01

Georgi - I know, I know, but he is soooo unselfish and I really would like him to buy himself something. He has been looking for some wireless bluetooth headphones or summat like that to go with his i-pod touch and he found some last week, they were around maybe £250 and I told him to get them and he said no they were more than he wanted to pay. He always puts me first and I would like him to put himself first sometimes.

Lizzy, the cake is flippin heavy, it only just fits in the oven. I have one of those silverwood cake pans - where you can do one big cake or divide into small cakes, the sides and extra dividers all sort of slot into each other, one wrong move trying to get it in or out of the oven and it could be tragic!

iggi999 · 27/02/2010 15:04

Lizzy, do you (ignorantly) put your arms on the plate thingy? I have seen one in the gym but only put a tentative toe on it.
Unfortunately all my gym money went on the cross trainer in my bedroom. Was going to make usual joke about clothes hanger but have just been on it, so for today at least it is in use!
Could I strap a couple of vibrating mobile phones to my arms instead? Surely?

Do you think perhaps Bella your man wants to think of you in the kitchen baking cakes whilst wearing the Jimmy Choos? (and a frilly apron, perhaps!)

MitsubishiWarrioress · 27/02/2010 15:09

Bella.... you really deserve your lovely man , and I am glad you got the cake sorted out.

Reality, I will have a look at your link shortly.
I am pontificating because I am hungry but have eaten. Perhaps I need to distract myself.

bellavita · 27/02/2010 15:18

Mitts, I think he tries to make things up to me. We had only got together in the July and in the following February he started being really really poorly - this was the first bout of ulcerative colitis which blighted our lives for a long time - in and out of hospital, me working full days then going to see him. Being 8 months pregnant during a hot summer and doing a 40 mile round trip with bump on steering wheel to go and visit him in hospital for days on end. Having to look after me, baby (after having a section) and him straight away when coming out of hospital - oh and his bloody mother who came to stay (but that is a whole other story so I won't waffle on about that) He has had three major ops and I have just had to carry on with 2 small children and still go to work whilst making sure he is ok.

A drink perhaps Mitts - you could just be thirsty rather than hungry?

Lizzylou · 27/02/2010 15:23

Bella, sounds like you both deserve nice treats then. Am sure your cake will be fab.

Iggi, there are loads of exercises you can do on the wobbler, I went on all fours with my palms on the plates, you could see my bingo wings wobbling, and my friends. We were laughing our heads off!

The cross trainer will work your arms as well though, I like cross trainers. I pretend I am a Nordic cross country skier, not a flabby 36yr old Mom of 2 in an East Lancs gym .

Mitts, have a good night tonight

bellavita · 27/02/2010 15:29

Vinny- buttery mash..

All fours Lizzy - sounds like you have really taken to the exercise.

Just read back through the thread a bit > they are truly delish, especially warm - one of Nigella's creations.

TrillianAstra · 27/02/2010 15:46

Bella - I think he wants you to be in the kitchen baking while wearing only your Jimmy Choos

Bread is rising, tomatoes are roasting, onions for lasagne are softening. DP's job was to knead the bread (I get bored) and to tidy.

I'm wearing a dress, but it's the sort of dress you could easily wear to go into town int he daytime, not a dressy-dress.

I like crosstrainers too Lizzy!

V impressed at Reality's long walk - how long will it take to do 60 miles?

OP posts:
bellavita · 27/02/2010 15:55

That made me chuckle Trills!

Has DP settled into his new job or is it still early days?

I hate crosstrainers - much prefer the treadmill.

BitOfFun · 27/02/2010 16:24

I am afraid I am baking a gooey chocolate fudge cake right now. I haven't baked in years...first I forgot the cocoa powder so had to add it in near the end. then I put both cake tins in the oven- went to clear the work surface and realized that the egg and cream mixture was still there . Cue rush to the oven and pouring the tins back into the mixing bowl . Good job I'd noticed before they had really started cooking really.

I hope it turns out ok. Icing to be made up next.

hellsbelles · 27/02/2010 16:30

oh Bella - it sounds like DH wants to spoil you because you deserve it - so just enjoy.

Reality - will sponsor you through work...I'm very impressed with 60 miles!! Incredible.

Mitts - sounds like a very cultured and enjoyable evening....are you a singer as well? I used to be in a choir many many years ago but I really was rubbish

TrillianAstra · 27/02/2010 16:45

Linkylinky for the cake recipe?

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 27/02/2010 16:51

Chocolate Fudge Cake

TrillianAstra · 27/02/2010 16:52

I have nearly all the ingredients for that. Not enough chocolate, of course.

Nigella does make fat cakes, doesn't she?

OP posts:
wastingaway · 27/02/2010 16:53

BoF, fingers crossed for your cake!

Yours too Bella.

I want a KitchenAid in my fantasy kitchen. They're about as big as my present kitchen but look lush.

Reality, I am v. impressed. Will sponsor shortly.

Iggi, ballet workouts are brilliant for arms. There's some DVDs available. I used to have the original New York ballet workout on video and it was good. The 2nd one is meant to be better though.
Wedding is sooooon!

I'm going to bake some daffodil-themed cupcakes now, it being St. David's day on Monday. I think.
