you're allowed to moan on here haggis - am so sorry you're having a wretched time.
Hope you are ok RWU -thinking of you lots.

On a trivial note - my cards arrived from the printer and look v good - hooray - though the type on the back is far too small- my mistake, but never mind.
Parent consultation evening today - lots of appointments all over the school -am bound to get lost -it's a silly system- I get very frazzled.

just to let everyone know, MIL sadly passed away at ten to seven this morning after a VERY long night with the entire family at her bedside. Her passing was peaceful. She is now free from pain and in a better place (wherever that may be!) x

sandripples · 11/03/2010 09:28

O RWU, thank-you for letting us know. I am so glad the passing was peaceful, and not drawn out any further. Sympathy and hugs to you and your DH and family.

Cakesandale · 11/03/2010 12:01

RIP RWU's mum in law. Blessings on her and all the family, glad it is over.

Sorry also to hear about the SEs Haggis, and this is a place where you CAN moan without apologising. Last one tomorrow! Yippee! (I had neutropenia as well, it is crap isn't it).

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2010 13:15

love to RWU and her family - am glad that MIL had a peaceful death and she will be in a better place.

KurriKurri · 11/03/2010 15:08

Thinking of all your family RWU, - I'm glad DMIl's passing was peaceful, with her family close by.

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit rough Haggis. I had neutropenia too (like you - slightly crap immune system to start with) - its a bugger isn't it? Hope you're feeling a bit better now. Getting towards the end now which is good - are you on to radiotherapy next?

I've just come back from 3 hours at the hosp. It took ages for my treatment to come up from the pharmacy as usual. They want me to have another echocardiogram in two weeks - not sure why - I said I've only just had one and she said hmmm - you've got to have another .

Anyway I'm off to a Breast Cancer care Lingerie evening at John lewis tonight - with buffet - I'll have to stop pronouncing it lin-ger-ee

reallywoundup · 11/03/2010 17:51

urghhh! spent the day with the family, but i've come back to spend time with the kids. i've done most of the organisational stuff, registered death, arranged undertaker, spoken to the minister (well he came round to see us all), sorted funeral date and time and booked the wake. i am shattered now though, once the kids are in bed, i'm having a bath and getting my head down, treatment was (obviously!) postponed today, but have to go tomorrow

DH is coping, but not very well iyswim, he needed lots of hugs and cuddles. Also had a meeting of the ex-wives club (i am number 3 ) having never met wife 1 it was very nerve wracking but she was ok and there weren't any fisticuffs

Sorry to hear that some of you are also bleughh at the moment, my brain hasn't got the capacity to remember who's doing what i'm afraid, but best wishes to you all

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2010 18:52

good luck tomorrow RWU and sympathies to poor dh.
3 wives though !!

wubblybubbly · 11/03/2010 20:15

Hello again everyone.

I've just had a quick read through the recent posts as I've been hiding for a while.

Pennies, I'm sorry to hear about your port. How are you getting on with it now?

RWU, so sorry to hear about your MIL.

Cakes, glad to hear your neck is feeling better.

Just wanted to let you all know I've had some good news today really. All scans etc have come back clear, so no spread beyond the lymph nodes.

The biopys hasn't shown and inflammatory cells, rather ductal, although they'll have a better idea after the mastectomy.

Consultant said either stage 2 or grade 2, not sure which, but it sounds a whole lot better than the initial diagnosis, so a big here tonight.

Cakesandale · 11/03/2010 20:43

Hi RWU

Glad it is getting sorted GO TO BED!!!
(THREE wives?? bloody hell)

Wubbly - good news! No spread! And whether it was stage 2 or grade 2, no matter, it is average, no more, no less, they have seen and dealt with much worse. (For the record mone was stage 2 and grade 2. I am average. sometimes that is nice)

I have good mews also, albeit far more superficial in nature.. I did my tax return in Jan and paid on time, no worries although I was alarmed at the amount I seemed to owe and didn't actually have it. Couldn't understand that as I hadn't been spending like a gay blade or anything - but borrowed it off DH 'cos you don't mess with HMRC. Was worried but had no time to get to bottom of it etc etc - anyway, got a letter today from HMRC. Hooray! Turns out I am a financial numpty!!! Paid several thousands more than I needed to! No idea how that has happened, but it is being sent back. Wa-hey!!!!!

Cakesandale · 11/03/2010 20:44

PS apologies for shit typing. Am tired.

KurriKurri · 11/03/2010 20:53

Good to hear from you Wubbly,- funnily enough I was thinking about you earlier today, and wondering how you were - great you have had some encouraging news.

Sounds like an exhausting day RWU especially the wives - good luck with chemo tomorrow(hopefully you are now fast asleep)

Just got back from my lingerie do. -quiche, vol au vents, bruschetta, and strawberry meringues. yum. Good talks and some skin care freebies(Sisley- v.posh)at the end. Oh and a tote bag - what more could you ask for?

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/03/2010 22:09

hope you are safely tucked up RWU
Wubbly -I was also thinking about you today - if it's any comfort I was average too ! so really that is 'good' news
And they think it's not ibc but ductal "?
Great news about your tax Cakes !! love the expression 'spending like a gay blade' !
KK - freebies sound fab - glad you had a good time.

Parents consultations fine though every single teacher said that ds is so quiet in class, never answers unless directly asked etc and also takes a long time to get started on his work, especially in art and maths. I think he just lives in his own little world much of the time. He is very shy and lacks the confidence to speak up in class even though he is bright and often knows the answers. He always hangs back and lets others go first..am slightly anxious about all this - he is happy at school but very much a loner, but thankfully seems not to be a target for bullying- he has a sweet nature and think that helps him.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 12/03/2010 11:11

MAS your ds always sounds so lovely. Some kids are like this I think, my dd is the opposite and has to be told to shut up and give someone else a turn , but there are kids like this in her year and their parents worry too.

One little lad never gets a part in the school play because he doesn't stick his hand up, so he always gets an instrument to play. Last time I said to him - well make sure you stick your hand up when they are giving out the really big drum - but his Mum said he never would, he'd just take whatever was left at the end.

But if your ds is happy, I think that is a good indication that he is fine. And with his sensitive nature and his music, your main worry is the girls that are going to be flocking to your door. let me know if you need a big stick to beat them off with!

I worry about dd as well - she is very chatty and friendly but little girls are really spiteful sometimes, and she has always had trouble standing up for herself. She just seems astonished that anyone would want to be horrible. I am delighted she has started going to Tae Kwon Do (we have changed from Karate as that was mahoosively expensive) I think she may start to handle herself a bit more assertively, especially if her kicking and punching are any indicator

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/03/2010 11:16

thanks Cakes - I don't worry for a while and then something catches up with us and I fret about him- but have just spoken to the SN lady at school and she will see him if he can get himself into school at 8.15 next week !
Your dd sounds a sweetie but I do agree that other girls can be nasty and spiteful. Good for her doing self defence !
I do think that ds is quite a steely boy underneath and if he was pushed to far by anyone they'd be quite shocked !

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 12/03/2010 11:39

In by 8.15 good grief!! Good luck with that!

I think other kids are quite good at spotting a steel spine - prob why he gets left alone

Cakesandale · 12/03/2010 12:19

ooh KK well done, you got an honourable mention in the weekly roundup. That makes you a sleb in my book...

reallywoundup · 12/03/2010 12:44

can i barge in and ask you ladies what you think of the following songs for a fairly non-religious crem ceremony, we aren't doing 'hymns' mainly because the minister can't sing for toffee

eva cassidy "somewhere over the rainbow" on the way in, Amazing grace (i have found a nice gospel ish version) for the commital, and apparently she wanted Katherine Jenkins "time to say goodbye" on the way out. I think thats a nice mix, and nothing that could possibly offend iyswim?

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/03/2010 12:46

sounds fine RWU -esp Amazing Grace

OP posts:
sandripples · 12/03/2010 13:55

Yes, sounds good RWU. I hope you're OK. The chemo today with all the other things going on must be tough. Hope you have time to rest today.

Delighted about your no spread, Wubbly. I was mighty relieved when told that a couple of weeks ago too.

How is Penny, the port, the SEs?

Cakes - what weekly round up do you mean?

KK lingerie sounds nice. I keep wondering when I can get to a good wig place. Have you got this sorted? I've been recommended a place in Beverley Yorks, but thats quite a long way and I don't feel like such a drive. Am getting NHS wig on next chemo day so if hair out before I'll manage with my scarf collection I guess.

MAS - does your DS have SN? Or is it simply his quiet nature? I agree its difficult sometimes for the less assertive children - my DD is highly intelligent but always assertive, indeed delights in being non-competitive. She has taken up activities recently which are good for her profile eg Aikido, climbing and circus skills! (Age 20)

I am a bit tired today and its colder so not walking toady, will watcvh a DVD and do a bit of housework. Feeling fairly normal though, 10 days after chemo, so will hopefully have a week and a half of this.

KurriKurri · 12/03/2010 14:01

Those sound lovely choices RWU - I'm sure no one could take exception to them.

Thanks Cakes - I will be signing autographs later - actually I'm not sure a mention for having the dullest imaginable mid life crisis really counts does it?.
