Pennies - the steroids made me go bright pink, although I didn't get the rest of the wired feeling you describe.

RWU - sorry its not a good w/e for you and hope you'll feel better today - sending hugs.

I am trying to organise my next 4 sets of visitor/helpers between now and July for key periods - I'm so lucky to have a couple of freinds who have recently retired and can come to spend a few days, plus another good friend whose work is v flexible. I'm warning them all that best not to book any trains as things can change though, in this treatment.

KurriKurri · 07/03/2010 12:49

Pennies - yes GCSF made me very flushed - face and neck, and patches of red on torso. Also achy legs. - I think its in the long bones where bone marrow is made. the flushing goes after a couple of days IIRC.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today RWU, cough is horrible, and tiring

Sorry about the client Cakes, I know you were anticipating it, but a pain all the same.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Our team came second in the quiz last night, and I won a plant in the raffle good time had by all, and I met some of my friend's extended family - all lovely people.

sandripples · 07/03/2010 15:27

Well done in the quiz KK. Our prize was Easter eggs!

Pennies - have you really managed to go for a run? I am pleased as walked for an hour today - beautiful weather here in the NW - spring like and totally blue sky. Normally I'd be out in the garden on a day like this.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/03/2010 15:29

well done KK !
It's beautiful here-sunny and blue sky but very cold.

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 07/03/2010 17:21

GCSF and steroids made me all red too, and as KK says, very achy in the bones as well. It is all a bit crap, isn't it. Hope the coughing gets better for RWU, sore nethers and a cough are not good. Thank God for over the counter remedies and chick lit.

Weather fab here as well, and we got an evening off - dd asked to go to her Nan's for a sleepover (she gets to do whatever she likes....) It was nice, nothing major, just a takeaway curry, wine, and sleep - FAB! My Mum looked a little pale when I went over at midday first thing to fetch the little wotsit.

Glad all you ladies on the chemo seem to be standing up pretty well, well done!

MAS- am in awe if you manage to design a card online.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/03/2010 20:55

glad you had a nice evening off Cakes. Have managed to do the card - I hope -will see if online printers say it's ok...

btw - a sparrow hawk caught a pigeon in our garden early this evening - feathers everywhere..it was picking at it for quite a while.

Lordy what a day.

Had lunch with friends and then DH and I had the very sad duty to attend the thanksgiving service to commemorate my friend who died last week. It was a very difficult service, but some wonderful things were said about a wonderful lady and mum who never complained about her illness and fought an epic battle with it.

We were meant to go to an after party but I was feeling so low by then and wanted us to do stuff as a family and I thought a walk would be good for us, so we all went and got changed but I made the mistake of sitting on my bed and woke up two hours later feeling sick and achey as various drugs wore off and others kicked in.

Feel fluey and tired tonight. Def no running on the cards until this wears off!

RWU - I do hope you're feeling better.

KK - well done on the quiz. DH and I went to a quiz night last night too. We could have done much better I think its fair to say! Look at the three of us here on our quiz nights! Trivia-tastic.

KurriKurri · 07/03/2010 21:41

Sorry you've had a tough day Pennies, chemo plus an emotional occasion must have been exhausting. Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

I had a sparrowhawk take a collared dove once MAS - it carried it over the garden then dropped it. So I went to look and the poor thing was in a bad way - I had take it to the vet to get it put out of its misery.

Sorry - that wasn't a very jolly anecdote

reallywoundup · 07/03/2010 22:27

bleughhh, still feeling rough here! have had my head stuffed in the steamer all day, coughing seems to have gone from "just hacked up a whole lung" to the less severe "just bringing up bits of lung" (according to dh on the phone to sil half an hour ago) bedtime me thinks, hopefully will be human in the morning, we have a visitor for tea tomorrow, dd's first dinner date

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2010 09:01

hope you've woken up feeling a bit more chipper RWU
Dh cleared up the remains of poor pigeon - just feathers left.

sandripples · 08/03/2010 09:23

Hope lungs feeling a bit better RWU - sounds horrid.

Pennies - am slightly releived to read you fell asleep as had been wondering how you could keep doing so much compared to me. I am sticking with pottering and a daily walk of an hour max. for now. Much resting in between. Did get through yesterday without a sleep for 1st time since chemo. Have a feeling will get bored but not yet and in any case don't think can plan anything much (apart from arranging my visitors) until after next op.
However you had a sad day and I hope you're feeling OK.

The sparrow hawks round here at least have the decency to choose small birds which appear to die of fright instantly - well in the incidents I've witnessed anyway. Standing around picking at pigeons- yuk! Just hooligan sparrowhawks.

Cakesandale · 08/03/2010 13:28

Oo yuk to all the sparrowhawk activities (we have a few suspicious feathers in our garden today as well) and to all the lung activity at RWU's end.

Hope you are feeling better today RWU.

Well I am stunned at the physical activities of you chemo ladies. The IDEA of a reun Pennies (thank God your body took a hold of you on that one) and an hour's walk a day, SR?? Good grief, puts me to shame. I managed half an hour about twice a week if lucky, and I thought I was doing pretty well. I don't do that much now! No need to overdo it , you know!

Well done on the card MAS! Tecnotastic!

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/03/2010 15:03

I feel sad for the pigeon but I guess the sparrow hawk has to eat...
am also in awe of the activities of chemo ladies - I am positively static.
Am not sure if the online card worked - they would have probably emailed by now to complain about my terrible job but haven't -so fingers crossed.
Have suddenly got lots of commissions to do birthday cards -I have been marketing myself vigourously today -now panicking about getting it all done.

love to all x

Yay MAS! A work influx! Well done. You'll be fine!

Pennies · 09/03/2010 13:16

Oh god, I really hate my port.

So conscious of t. it's like having a golf ball on my chest. I can feel it when I reach up.

Does it always feel like this? I'm not sure I can take 18 months of it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2010 14:54

might it just be because it's all new Pennies, and that you'll get used to it ? it must be horrid though

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 09/03/2010 15:12

No personal experience of it Pennies, sorry. It does sound horrible, but you probably will get more used to it. I bet no-one else will be aware of it either, it just feels prominent to you. Like when you get a new filling in a tooth. That's not making light of it, but you know what I mean.

Sorry you feel like this. Be kind to yourself, all will be fine.

KurriKurri · 09/03/2010 15:48

Sorry Pennies, it sounds uncomfortable. I didn't have one, and my veins are a bit worn out now, but they are still useable. Perhaps you could ask about getting it removed once chemo is finished and you are onto herceptin which is much less rough on your veins.

Hope you're not feeling too bad otherwise, and that everyone else is coping. Are you any better today RWU?

I've just been to doc. Because I thought I had an eye infection, but he reckons allergy and has given me some drops. Went for a cream tea afterwards (me and DH, not me and the doc).

have finished knitted hoody for my dog - I'll try to take a photo later - if she'll sit still!

sandripples · 09/03/2010 16:53

Sorry Pennies - no experience of ports. 18 months sounds a long time to have it.

MY DS has just got a girlfriend, which is nice but now (in my low immunity week) she has got chicken pox!! He's agreed not to see her this week. How's that for bad luck.

My scalp feels a bit funny today so suspect hair is loosening ........

I felt grotty when I woke up today but went back to bed and then had quite a good day, with less nasuea than for a week. Have made a butternut squash curry for tea.

Cakesandale · 09/03/2010 17:35

Glad to hear you are feeling better sandripples, hope the chickenpox stays at bay. Just remember to keep taking your temperature and phone hopsital if in doubt.

Cream tea sounds nice KK - even if i did think you'd gone with the doc!

Hope port is settling Pennies....

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/03/2010 18:18

dog hoody -photos please !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 09/03/2010 19:01

I have just taken them MAS - Dh is putting them on the computer

KurriKurri · 09/03/2010 20:06

dog in her hoody

I realise that by dressing my dog in clothes,I am a mad old woman, but I don't care.

Cakesandale · 09/03/2010 21:05

Oh God KK that is gorgeous! (Dog AND hoody)

We once dressed our (now deceased) dog in reindeer antlers, but he was not as amenable to it as yours seems to be
