Aspartame has been given a 'posh' new name, but don't be fooled, this stuff is toxic.

I don't know how many other parents ban this stuff from their Dc's diet.
I don't let it pass my Dc's lips if I can help it.
The link makes some interesting reading.

TOXIC

Well, I found Lidl's cordial(no idea who makes it or what it's called, but it's with all the 'add water to it drink')doesn't have it in. Orange, blackcurrant and apple & blackcurrant flavours. Tesco Hi juice pinapple flavour(kids like it ) and there are a couple of the Robinsons flavours that are aspatame free too, but not most. HTH.

Answering the swine flu jab q? It hasn't been around long enough to know of the long term effects. Yes, I know it's based on the 'normal' flu jab which has been around, but the H1N1 has the squalene adjuvant in it and it's that that when I'd done a bit of reading up on on here and with my friend Google, made me bin the idea of it ~ not that I was keen in the first place. Please don't ask me for links as apparently, my links are not reliable . Google Squalene and check it out for yourself.

Thanks Solo, I will google squalene and ask my much cleverer dh to read findings.

For all those diet coke addicts ASDA do a sugar free aspartame free and unfortunately taste free coke. But its better than nothing!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 27/02/2010 18:46

Oh and Aldi's version of the dreaded fruit shoots dont contain any aspartame.

expatinscotland · 27/02/2010 20:43

FIL is an insulin-dependent diabetic and had to stop taking anything with aspartame because such products still spiked his blood sugar.

Heated · 27/02/2010 20:49

Nickelbabe, Sainsbury's own brand squash is aspartame free.

Is there any cola that is?

omg i have just read the label of my dd's fruit shoots she takes to school for lunch.... opps

bruffin · 28/02/2010 17:57

"you're right, Claire: i once stood in front of the display in Sainsbury's and checked every single bottle of cordial and not one had sugar rather than aspartame."

Most of the "high Juices" own brand and robinsons don't have artificial sweeteners in unless they are specifically labled low suger.

The only brand of "high Juice" squash that I have come across with aspartame in is M&S!

Nearly all of the more expensive cordials ie Rocks and Bottle Green and tesco finest ranges have no artificial sweeteners in either.

blimey.

it is about 3 years since i checked, though, because once i'd found that i refused to buy any.

but i will look agian, thank you all!

bruffin · 01/03/2010 14:48

You do need to look at more expensive products. I read somewhere the reason aspartame is used so much is that it costs 1/70th the price of proper sugar

solo · 01/03/2010 16:18

The Lidl's squash I bought recently was £1.08 for a fairly large bottle.

I forgot about Lidl we don't go there very often, but we did buy they apple and blackcurrent squash on saturday

bruffin · 01/03/2010 16:24

What I would like to get is a clear lemonade that doesn't have aspartame in to have with my Pimms in the summer

solo · 01/03/2010 16:25

My Ds say's it's quite nice...I don't drink it though, so cannot comment! but I think the price is competitive enough.

Thanks for the heads up.

Damn them for trying to sneak the bugger under the radar there. I've done my best to make sure dts don't knowingly ingest this crap in any way but if they start renaming the muck - should that even be allowed?

I was surprised to read the list of ingredients in Dioralyte recently and see aspartame...

solo · 08/03/2010 00:27

That's disgusting thisxgirl. I gave that to Ds recently ~ didn't even think of checking it.

I know! Me too, didn't realise until afterwards. NHS advice is distinctly NOT to offer drinks containing artificial sweeteners like aspartame.
