OK folks you know the drill, and if you dont pay attention:

We are a bunch of lovely ladies all shapes and size, here for chat, and moral support.

Some of it is healthy eating chat. WW, LL, food focus, south beach. Whatever ever the route, whatever the goal its all here.

Most of the time its just moral support and general chat... So dive in, post as much as you are able and have some fun...

So you were right then Shiney? No surprise I guess, how does she know?

I think it is lovely to contact a teacher, my old History teacher from High school added me as a friend a while back. He was lovely. He has 500+ friends, mostly ex-students I think

I always wanted to be a teacher, like in Dead Poets Society, all inspiring and wonderful. Then reality bit and I realised I had feck all patience and probably most students wouldn't want me to inspire them.

Not sure of technical stuff...
But just say that he taught you during x and x years, that you have always remembered him and that you hope he is well.

NormaSknockers · 19/02/2010 20:59

Shiney you do make me laugh Funny how I've never bumped into her before!

Dizzymare was she one with the prem twins (or something?) That's awful that she was a troll, how can anyone stoop so low?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 19/02/2010 21:00

Not Twatty Shiney... I think it would be a positive thing to do...

jetcat · 19/02/2010 21:01

shiney - i once wrote to a director of social services

He had been in that post for years, head of childrens services when i was in care in his local authority. He was lovely, came to all my case reviews etc, even though he didnt strictly have to, allowed me to continue with my social worker once the care order had officialy expired when i was 18, as he knew i had no family whatsoever.

Anyways, to cut a long story short, i heard he was retiring, and wrote to him to say that i wished him well, and how positive my time in care in his region was etc etc etc. and that it was mainly him and his team that had inspired me and here i was a social worker!
I was sure he wouldnt remember me, as this was nearly 20 years ago.

But, i was at work one day, when my team manager comes over to me and asks why the director of durham social services would be ringing and asking for me personally I think i upstaged her

He was lovely, and said he was so moved by my letter, so i would defo write to your teacher

DreamsInBinary · 19/02/2010 21:02

I think a letter/email would be wonderful Shiney, and that he would love it. Write the letter and post it to the niece?

Fanny - I am gobsmacked by the utter twatishness of your BIL. I hope you don't get dragged in too much.

I have just done 45 on the cross trainer and am torn bewtween feeling smug (exercise on a Friday night) and feeling stupid (first time I have used it since I bought it three weeks ago)

BitOfFun · 19/02/2010 21:02

Hurrah! I am back on- it took me SIX goes! I bet your teacher would love that, Shiney- do it!

Re the Guilt thing- nah, I just don't get it, I must be missing the gene. And I was raised a Catholic too. Perhaps it was a dodgy batch of baptismal water?

MitsubishiWarrioress · 19/02/2010 21:03

Right.. I'm going to bed. Didn't realise the bus journey to Manschester was quite so long, so up early.. I like travelling though..magazine, bag of snacks, loads of music...yayyy!!

goodnight all...I killed Archie by the way, with a bicycle pump in the closet....

BOF, it is seriously overrated, enjoy a guilt free existence (must clarify that I was only raised Catholic, have no leanings that way now, excepting school choices , moving on!).

DIB, get you, 45mins on the cross trainer is fab

DreamsInBinary · 19/02/2010 21:05

at DizzyMare

YanknCock · 19/02/2010 21:06

Shiney, I'm sure he'd love to hear from you. Now that we've moved oop north, DH got in touch with one of his teachers from secondary school and they go out for drinks every other month or so. I think DH was 15-16 and this guy was mid-20s when they were student/teacher, so now the age gap is less noticeable. DH is also in touch with another of his teachers on facebook and we will probably visit him someday.

Mitts, bet it's a lovely bus journey though, I loved the scenery when we went to Bakewell the other week.

Jet, how fab, what a lovely thing to do. Sazz is right, it means so much to get some praise, people are usually so quick to complain.

NormaSknockers · 19/02/2010 21:08

Am I the only person not watching watched East-fecking-enders?

DreamsInBinary · 19/02/2010 21:08
