noddyholder · 06/07/2005 18:56

I would be careful about when you let them see him with the pump too. When I ws on dialysis I was v ill and ds never saw me but dp passed his driving test and ran into the dialysis ward with ds as he was so excited as we really needed to be mobile and ds was really upset when he saw the blood etc going around But when we explained what it was he calmed down but your 3 are so young it would be hard to explain If you can wait untilhe has made good improvement it may be better as it may upset you to see them upset IYKWIM I am praying for a good recovery for him

Miaou · 06/07/2005 19:00

Just posted on the other thread - at least you can move on now to the next stage of the process (recovery). Lets hope you find out soon how it all went.

misdee · 06/07/2005 20:17

It went better than expected. dh mum overheard the docs, apparently they werent expecting him to make it, as he is extremely ill and at the end end stages of heart failure. he only has one pump (think she said norvack), which is external, and quite noisey. you can see his skin vibrating. they have palced a pad under the pump to stop the skin underneath becoming sore. generally he is doing well.

misdee · 06/07/2005 20:21

they were talking to the other docs, dh mum wasnt meant to hear but she has amazing hearing. as its all open plan in the ITU, they'd have to be hiding for her not to hear lol

tamum · 06/07/2005 20:23

You're so brave, misdee. This new heart just has to come soon.

misdee · 06/07/2005 20:24

OP posts:
tamum · 06/07/2005 20:25

Oh blimey, I didn't realise it was as long as that. I am sorry.

misdee · 06/07/2005 20:30

he'll be in for quite a while. maybe with just the one pump he'll be allowed hoem for periods. but will be in minimum of 3months.
